Not only is the search illegal, but the US Supreme Court was VERY clear that the “freedom of individuals verbally to oppose or challenge police action without thereby risking arrest is one of the principal characteristics by which we distinguish a free nation from a police state.” Challenging a cops unlawful actions CAN NOT BE criminalized as interference/obstruction in the United States. Free speech can not be criminalized in the United States.

If it were a traffic stop as the cop claims, this would be unlawfully extending the stop. Detaining people to find and run a serial without a warrant is an unlawful detainment and a warrantless search, no matter them calling it a traffic stop or what their lawless courts claim.

Domestic Enemy to the Constitution of the United States unlawfully tells citizen journalist peacefully protesting to stop recording multiple times, unlawfully tries to ID him, asks if he has a permit for a constitutionally protected activity, and then decides to unlawfully detain and "pat him down" when he clearly did not believe he was armed and dangerous.
