It seems the Kremlin wants to show the world just how bad the situation is for Ukrainian forces along the frontlines in the east of the country, at a moment Russian infantry troops have already penetrated parts of the city of Pokrovsk.

On Wednesday in live televised remarks President Putin said that Russia is ready to let journalists into Ukraine's encirclement zone. Speaking from the Central Military Clinical Hospital in Moscow alongside Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, Putin declared that "In two places – in Kupyansk and Krasnoarmiysk [the Kremlin’s name for Pokrovsk] – the enemy has been blocked, in encirclement." He said of Western journalists, "let them see with their own eyes what’s going on."

This was offered as pushback against recent reports from Western media and NATO officials who have by and large downplayed or denied recent Russian gains. Also, the Ukrainian government has flatly rejected that the two cities are encircled, saying it's not true.

For example, below is US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker saying this week that Russia looks "very weak" currently. "At every single turn, the Russians are not showing from a position of strength - they actually look very weak right now," he claimed.

But Putin has made a rare overture, saying the Russian side is ready to stop fighting in this area near Pokrovsk for as long as media representatives are there.

Secret details of Israel’s mammoth deal with Google and Amazon revealed – media

The US tech giants cannot bar West Jerusalem from using its products even if it violates their terms of service, a consortium of outlets has reported

Israel has forced US tech giants Google and Amazon to violate their own legal obligations under a 2021 cloud services contract with West Jerusalem, according to a joint investigation by several news media outlets, including The Guardian.

The Jewish state’s contracts with US tech platforms have been under close scrutiny following widespread accusations, including from the UN, that its military response to the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack that killed over 1,200 people constitutes a genocide.

Known as Project Nimbus, the $1.2 billion deal reportedly bars the firms from restricting the Israeli government’s access to cloud services they provide, even if it violates their terms of use, the reports, carried by The Guardian along with +972 Magazine and Local Call, suggest.

The deal also reportedly requires the two companies to secretly notify West Jerusalem using a so-called “winking mechanism” should any foreign state or court seek access to Israeli data stored in the cloud.

The “wink” involves the US firm paying Israel an amount – between 1,000 and 9,999 shekels – that equates to the international dialing code of the request source each time they transfer its data to a foreign nation.

The scheme effectively allows the tech firms leak information on third party data requests, normally regraded as confidential.

Google and Amazon are also reportedly to face heavy financial penalties if they cut Israel off from their services. The Jewish state can “make use of any service” at will as long as it does not breach Israeli law, infringe on copyright or involve reselling the companies’ technology, according to the leaked text of the contact.

The clause is allegedly aimed at preventing a situation in which the US tech giants would be forced to break ties with Israel over pressure from employees, shareholders or activists.

Google employees increasingly protested against the company’s ties with the Israeli government amid the war in Gaza over the past years. In April 2024, the company fired nearly 30 such workers, accusing them of disrupting the work process. In July 2025, Google co-founder Sergey Brin accused the UN of being “transparently anti-Semitic” over a report accusing tech firms, including Alphabet, of profiting from the Gaza war.

China reveals outcome of key US trade talks

Beijing has agreed to ease rare earth export controls in exchange for lowered tariffs and restrictions from Washington

China has agreed to suspend its latest rare earth export controls in exchange for reciprocal US cuts on tariffs and restrictions, the Chinese Commerce Ministry said in a statement published on its website on Thursday. Beijing's earlier limits on the critical materials remain in place.

The agreement followed a face-to-face meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Donald Trump in South Korea, as well as economic and trade delegation talks in Kuala Lumpur.

“China will suspend the implementation of relevant export control measures announced on October 9 for one year, and will study and refine specific plans,” the ministry’s statement reads.

Beijing’s restrictions on rare earth mineral exports with dual military use were seen as a response to Washington’s curbs on advanced semiconductors and chipmaking equipment introduced beginning in late 2022, culminating in the Dutch government’s seizure of Chinese owned chipmaker NeXperia in September under US pressure.

China dominates in extraction and processing of rare earth minerals, which are critical for most modern technology from cellphones to missiles.

Under the deal, Washington has agreed to suspend its recent rule expanding export restrictions to any business at least 50% owned by any entity on its “entity list,” the Chinese ministry said.

The US will also suspend its investigation measures targeting Beijing’s maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding industries, and lower fentanyl-related and reciprocal tariffs.

Beijing will adjust its retaliatory measures in response, the statement added.

Trump praised a “great meeting” with Xi, and said that China had agreed to resume purchases of US soybeans and other agricultural products paused during the countries’ recent trade stand-off.

The new US-China deal appears to leave older trade restrictions in place.

Google Executive Admits Company Made 'Mistakes' While Handling Complaints Of Election Fraud

A Google executive said the company made “mistakes” while handling complaints of election fraud during a U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation hearing held Oct. 29.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who serves as the committee chairman, showed screenshots of a YouTube video that allegedly highlighted how former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Donald Trump both voiced concerns about election fraud and then asked Markham Erickson, who leads Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy Centers of Excellence, why the video was taken down.

“YouTube deleted it, blocked it and gave the creator a strike, a step toward deleting his entire channel,” Cruz said. ”Why would you remove a journalist’s record of the claims of election fraud from both democrats and republicans?”

The Epoch Times has been unable to confirm specifically which YouTube video, owned by Google’s parent company Alphabet, Inc., was being discussed during the hearing and has reached out to Cruz’s press office for a copy of the screenshots that were mentioned.

Erickson responded: “We have election policies and we’ve had election policies for a long time to ensure that the most important thing that citizens can do, which is to vote, they can find relevant and useful information on our platforms. Where to vote, for example. What time the …”

Cruz interrupted Erickson and reiterated that his question was regarding a blocked YouTube video that discussed claims of election fraud made by presidential candidates from both parties, not voting.

“Then YouTube reversed that decision and unblocked it and you can see on the right [side of the posterboard], instead you decided not to block it, but simply to demonetize it,” Cruz said. “It is Google’s testimony that you regret nothing. Is that right?”

Erickson said that after the states had certified the 2020 election, YouTube adopted a policy to take down content that claimed there was “widespread fraud, or errors or glitches.”

“When the chance of real-world harm had dissipated, we removed that policy,” Erickson said.

Nunn spoke to Ana, a 19-year-old prostitute who had begun selling her wares on Figueroa at 13. The Blade was never busier, Ana said, never younger. And never more violent.

“Ana had seen the Blade expand from three main intersections of Figueroa to more than three miles. She had met girls brought in from the East Coast and the Deep South, and there sometimes seemed to be four times as many minors as before — easy to spot by their over-the-top makeup and unsteady gait. The police helicopters Ana used to notice hovering overhead with search lights seemed to become infrequent. Eventually, she said, they disappeared completely.”

The 77th Street Division had long been plagued by Figueroa’s prostitution problem, according to Nunn.

“But in recent years, the officers had seen the magnitude of child sex trafficking explode.”

Nunn credits part of this explosion to the lockdowns, “when many girls were out of school and immersed in social media, where traffickers lurked.”

Emails Relayed to Candace Owens Casts Doubt on Official Reports of Charlie Kirk’s Hospitalization

And I have a medical file… we received a text at 2:08 p.m. saying that we’re not allowed to touch the medical file.”

Over 90 Per Cent of English Councils Will Be Housing Asylum Seekers by End of Year

Leaked British government documents reportedly revealed that more than nine in ten local councils in England will be housing alleged asylum seekers by the end of the year.

Internal estimates from the Home Office — the UK government department tasked with controlling immigration — have predicted that 92 per cent of authorities in England will be housing asylum-seeking migrants by the end of 2025, up from the current rate of 82 per cent, the Sunday Express reported.

It is set to come as the Labour government will attempt to transition away from the use of hotels to house asylum seekers, a scheme which was developed under the previous Conservative government during the Chinese coronavirus and which currently is accommodating over 32,000 migrants.

The programme has become increasingly unpopular following a raft of sexual assaults committed against local women and girls by hotel migrants, such as the attack on a 14-year-old girl in Epping over the summer by a 41-year-old Ethiopian illegal put up in the Bell Hotel at taxpayer expense.

Part of the plan to reduce reliance on hotels will be to use so-called ‘dispersal’ accommodations, or in other words, private homes rented by the government through contractors on a multi-year basis.

Such arrangements are considerably cheaper than using hotels; however, it is unclear if spreading often young male illegals more broadly throughout British communities will alleviate concerns of locals about the safety of women and girls.

IDF troops raid southern Lebanon town before dawn, kill municipal employee

Military says soldiers fired on suspect who ‘posed immediate threat’ during operation in Blida; Lebanese president tells his army to confront any Israeli incursion

Israeli troops raided a town in southern Lebanon overnight and killed a municipal worker who was sleeping in the municipality building, Lebanese state media said Thursday morning.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the incident, saying it had opened fire on a suspect during an operation to destroy Hezbollah infrastructure in the town of Blida.

Following the incident, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Thursday instructed the commander of the army to “confront any Israeli incursion” into southern Lebanon.

According to Lebanon’s official National News Agency, IDF troops entered Blida at around 1:30 a.m. with several military vehicles and stormed the town hall.

At the municipality building, the troops killed Ibrahim Salameh, an employee who had been sleeping there, the report said. The Israeli soldiers withdrew at around 4 a.m., and the Lebanese army later entered the town hall and recovered the municipal worker’s body, NNA added.

The IDF said that during the raid, troops identified a suspect in a building and began a “suspect arrest procedure.”

“Once an immediate threat to the soldiers was identified, [the troops] opened fire to remove the threat, and a hit was identified,” the IDF said.

A second rabbinic letter, arguing against Jewish rejections of Mamdani, enters the NYC mayor’s race

A second rabbinic letter about the New York City mayor’s race repudiating the first has drawn hundreds of signatures in the day since its launch.

Titled “Jews for a Shared Future,” the new letter rejects the argument that the frontrunner in the race is unacceptable because of his opposition to Israel and contends that Jews should see their safety in New York City and beyond as entwined with that of others.

“In response to Jewish concerns about the New York mayoral race, we recognize that candidate Zohran Mamdani’s support for Palestinian self-determination stems not from hate, but from his deep moral convictions,” the letter says. “Even though there are areas where we may disagree, we affirm that only genuine solidarity and relationship-building can create lasting security. That work has sustained us for generations wherever Jews have lived, and remains our only path forward.”

It also responds to attacks on Mamdani’s Muslim identity, saying, “Jewish safety cannot be built on Muslim vulnerability, nor can we combat hate against our community while turning away from hate against our neighbors.”

In the day since its launch, the letter has been signed by 740 Jews. Of them, 230 are rabbis, 40 located in or near New York City.

Some of the signatories have previously offered their public support for Mamdani, including Sharon Kleinbaum, who spoke at his rally in Queens on Sunday, but others have not. Although some do not work in traditional pulpits, many others do. Some are well known for their own anti-Zionist activism that puts their outlook on Israel in line with Mamdani’s, but others openly identify as Zionists.

In a sign of how complex the current political discourse is for politically liberal Jews, at least one retired rabbi signed both the “Shared Future” letter and the broadside it follows.

The first letter, denouncing Mamdani and the “normalization of anti-Zionism,” began circulating a week ago and has now topped 1,150 signatures, with hundreds of signatories in New York City. It has roiled Jewish communities across the country as congregants look for their rabbis on the list.
