After seeing that the military is assigning 600 attorneys to process the immigration cases it made me think of Judge John Roll. I believe he was assassinated for drawing attention to the problem of the Immigration caseloads being overwhelming.

Judge Roll was bent on acquiring resources because the District of Arizona had the third highest criminal caseload in the nation due to a surge in illegal immigration and drug smuggling across the U.S.-Mexico border. At the time of his death, Judge Roll had been working hard for several years to obtain additional judgeships for his court and his successor, Chief District Judge Roslyn O. Silver, carried out his plan to declare a judicial emergency to avoid dismissal of criminal cases under the federal Speedy Trial Act.
