Nigeria rejects ‘unilateral’ US military intervention
3 Nov, 2025 09:30
The African state’s government has warned that any foreign troop deployment on its soil without consent would be “diplomatically inappropriate”
Nigeria has rejected any unilateral US military intervention in fighting Islamist insurgents, declaring that external help must come with full respect for the West African country’s sovereignty.
Daniel Bwala, the spokesperson for Nigeria’s president, made the remarks on Sunday after US President Donald Trump said he ordered the Pentagon to prepare for potential troop deployments or airstrikes in Nigeria.
Trump on Saturday cited “record numbers” of Christians being killed in Nigeria and designated it a ‘Country of Particular Concern’. He threatened to cut all aid to the country unless the Nigerian government intervenes.
“If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians!” Trump wrote on social media.
In a statement on Sunday, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson said it “would not be diplomatically appropriate for the US to take unilateral action without engagement and consent” from Abuja.
“Nigeria remains a sovereign nation, and while collaboration with international partners in addressing insecurity is welcome, any form of intervention must respect our sovereignty,” Bwala added.
Africa’s most populous nation has grappled for years with insurgency linked to groups such as Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province.
Last month, US Congressman Riley Moore wrote to Secretary of State Marco Rubio calling for “immediate action to address the systematic persecution and slaughter of Christians in Nigeria.”
He asked Washington to designate the African country a ‘Country of Particular Concern’, calling it “the deadliest place in the world to be a Christian.”
Moore claimed that more than 7,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria this year alone, with hundreds more kidnapped, tortured, or displaced by extremist groups.
Over 19,000 churches have been attacked and more than 50,000 people killed since 2009, he added.
Nigerian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa told RT that while the government understands Washington’s concern, “those that are being killed are not only Christians.”
“We are against the designation of Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern,’” he said, adding that Abuja is trying its “best to curtail the killing, not only stopping the killing of Christians, but stopping the killing” of Nigerians anywhere in the country.

US and China to reopen military hotlines – Hegseth
2 Nov, 2025 20:11
The US and China have agreed to reopen top-level military-to-military channels following a recent bilateral meeting of their top brass in Malaysia, according to War Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The communications are a key de-escalation mechanism that Beijing cut in 2022 after a formal visit to Taiwan, a self-governed region viewed by Beijing as an inseparable part of China, by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Late last year, under the administration of then-President Joe Biden, the two sides resumed military dialogue regarding the Indo-Pacific region, but broader channels remained severed.
Hegseth met with Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun at the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, just days after US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, sealed a trade deal that diffused weeks of tension amid a trade war flare-up.
“Admiral Dong and I… agreed that we should set up military-to-military channels to deconflict and deescalate any problems that arise,” Hegseth wrote on X on Sunday.
“We have more meetings on that coming soon,” he added.
However, just a day earlier, at the ASEAN meeting, Hegseth urged Beijing’s neighbors to strengthen their maritime forces to counter what he called “the threats we all face from China's aggression.”
He accused Beijing of “illegal activities” in the South China Sea, which Beijing claims as its sovereign waters, and which is the subject of a number of overlapping claims by its neighbors.
Dong hailed his talks with Hegseth as “successful,” in a statement cited by Xinhua news agency.
He also expressed hope that Washington will honor its commitment to not try to “contain” China or pursue conflict, as well as to take a clear stance against “Taiwan independence,” Xinhua cited.
While the US officially adheres to the One-China policy, it continues military cooperation with Taiwan and supplies the island with arms.

Ukraine strikes Russian fuel train and warehouse in occupied Luhansk with FP-2 drones
03/11/2025
Ukrainian special forces struck two logistics facilities used by Russian troops in occupied Luhansk Oblast overnight on 3 November, according to the Special Operations Forces (SSO).
The shared footage suggests that the SSO has used medium-range FP-2 drones, carrying 105 kg of explosives. Separately, Ukraine’s SBU security service released footage of its own drone strikes on Russian positions and logistics points in occupied territory, using the same FP-2s.
Amid the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, Ukraine has been using long-range drones for several years. These drones are capable of covering distances from several hundred to over 1,000 km.
Medium-range drones carrying significant payloads are a more recent development. Ukrainian SOF destroys Russian fuel site and warehouse near Luhansk
Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces said their units conducted strikes on two Russian military logistics targets in occupied Luhansk Oblast in the early hours of 3 November.
According to their statement, the operations aimed to disrupt supply lines supporting the Russian "Center" military grouping.
One of the strikes reportedly hit a fuel unloading point near the town of Dovzhansk approximately 150 km behind the lines. The SSO's footage shows a strike on a fuel train at the facility.
Another SOF strike reportedly destroyed a supply warehouse near the village of Rozkishne, Luhansk's southern suburb, around 90 km from the frontline.
The military didn't mention the type of the drones used in both strikes. However, the released footage shows a first-person view and interface consistent with FP-2 drones.
The FP-2 is a medium-range kamikaze drone capable of flying up to 200 km and carrying a 105 kg warhead. The drone features a first-person view camera, and videos of its strikes look similar to small FPV drone footage.
This drone type is known to be also used by Ukraine’s SBU, military intelligence agency HUR, and the Ukrainian Army's Unmanned Systems Forces.
Developed by Fire Point, the FP-2 is based on the company’s long-range FP-1 model, which can fly up to 1,400 km but carries a lighter payload.
The Ukrainian military stated that the successful strikes “created a fuel shortage and disrupted enemy logistics within the Russian ‘Center’ force grouping.”
SBU releases drone strike video from occupied territories
On the same day, Ukraine’s SBU security service released its own video footage showing drone attacks against Russian-used buildings in occupied territory. The agency did not specify the locations of the strikes.
According to the SBU, its Alpha unit carried out “a series of precise attacks” on Russian military positions and logistics infrastructure using FP-2 drones. The targeted sites included areas used for gathering vehicles and personnel involved in enemy logistics and troop distribution.
The SBU noted that the strikes were executed during the night and credited the drone’s explosive payload with ensuring the operation’s effectiveness. The agency emphasized that the targeted structures were critical to Russia’s operational planning and movement.

Ukraine military using video game-style reward system earning points killing Russians with drones
Monday 03 November 2025 09:45 EST
Ukraine’s military units are competing with each other by launching deadly drone attacks to earn points that can be used to buy more weapons.
The video game-style rewards system is proving to be very popular, Ukraine’s first deputy prime minister said, with hundreds of units participating.
Launched a year ago, it is now being expanded to reconnaissance, artillery and logistics operations, according to reports.
“It’s become truly popular among units,” deputy prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov told The Guardian.
“All the defence forces know about this and there’s competition for the points, for getting these drones, electronic warfare systems and other things to help them in warfighting.
“The more infantry you kill, the more drones you get to kill more infantry. This is becoming kind of a self-reinforcing cycle.”
Soldiers who launch successful strikes win points that can be exchanged to buy more weapons in an “Amazon-for-war” online shop called Brave1, including drones and autonomous vehicles.
At least 400 drone units are using the “Army of Drones Bonus System”, which killed or wounded 18,000 Russian soldiers in September, the newspaper reported.
This was double the number from last October, after Ukraine’s government doubled the rewards for killing Russian infantry from six to 12 points.
Drones and autonomous vehicles can be bought from the online marketplace with “e-points”, which are awarded to units for the verified destruction of enemy equipment or personnel.
A Kolibri 7 UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) was the cheapest drone that could be bought with points, going for 13,410 Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH), the equivalent of £242.87.
The most expensive, the MACUVA BpAK, was on sale for 41,506,466 UAH, or approximately £751,724.73.
Mr Fedorov said that the decision to apply a points-based system to Russian casualties was one of many ways Ukraine was trying to be “more effective”.
“We’re at war for four years in a row, and it is hard,” he said. “We’re just finding ways to be more effective. We’re thinking of this as just part of our everyday job.
There’s little to no emotional reflection here. It feels like just technical work.
“Because if you don’t stop the enemy, he will kill your servicemen and after the servicemen are dead, he’s going to come to a city and he’s going to conquer, raze and kill civilians.”
He warned that Russia appears to be developing its own gamified system, citing Ukrainian intelligence sources.
Drones have become a key weapon for both Kyiv and Moscow.
Russia has drastically increased its drone strikes this year; the summer saw an increase in frequency of intense overnight strikes in a move experts told The Independent was meant to induce panic in Ukraine’s population.
Kyiv faced a wave of 818 drones and missiles in an overnight attack on 7 September, one of the largest of the war so far.

Netanyahu won’t OK terrorists’ passage into Hamas-controlled area
Nov. 3, 2025
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ruled out on Monday the safe movement of some 200 Palestinian terrorists from the Yellow Zone in Gaza, under the control of the Israel Defense Forces, to the territory ruled by Hamas, Channel 12 News reported.
This came on the back of an earlier report that Israel green-lit their safe passage under the condition they lay down their arms.
“The IDF chief of staff’s position is that these terrorists should be eliminated. Allowing their passage unarmed—only in exchange for the fallen hostages held [in Gaza],” Channel 12 cited anonymous senior IDF officials as saying.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich responded to the initial report on X, calling the move “complete madness” and appealing to the premier to prevent it.
Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett also reacted to the news, saying that “IDF soldiers managed to capture dozens of terrorists in tunnels in the Rafah area.
Our dear soldiers are closing in on them. Their choice is to surrender or die. These are terrorists with blood on their hands.
“Some of them probably attacked Israel on Oct. 7, [2023]; others recently murdered three of our dear sons,” Bennett added, referring to IDF Master Sgt. (res.) Yona Efraim Feldbaum, Maj. Yaniv Kula and Staff Sgt. Itay Yavetz, who were killed in October in the southern Gaza Strip.
An Israeli security source told Channel 12 News on Monday that Israel has agreed to allow their passage “to protect the lives of our soldiers and to disarm [the terrorists] on their own ground. That way we’ll also be able to search for additional hostages.”
A second official said, “The moment they agree to lay down their weapons and to move unarmed, they are no longer classified as terrorists.”
Also on Monday, the IDF said that several terrorists were identified crossing the Yellow Line toward Israeli troops in the southern Strip.
The military “from the air and the ground eliminated the militants” to remove the threat they posed to the troops, the military said.
“IDF Southern Command forces are deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement framework and will continue to act to remove any immediate threat,” the army added.
On Sunday, Al Jazeera reported that Hamas via mediators had asked Jerusalem to permit the passage of hundreds of terrorists isolated in underground tunnels and other pockets in Gaza that are surrounded by Israeli forces.
According to the ceasefire terms, the IDF withdrew to a designated area that runs north, center and south through the Gaza Strip. Thus, some 53% of the Palestinian territory is in Israel’s control, where many terrorists are believed to still be in hiding.
The terrorist group later on Sunday handed over to Israel the bodies of three deceased hostages.
The IDF and the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed their identities on Monday morning. The remains were those of Col. Asaf Hamami, Capt. Omer Maxim Neutra and Sgt. Oz Daniel.
Terrorists still hold the bodies of eight hostages in the Gaza Strip.
They belong to six Israelis—Israeli-American dual national Staff Sgt. Itay Chen, Meny Godard, Lt. Hadar Goldin (whose remains were taken in 2014), Sgt. Maj. Ran Gvili, Dror Or and Israeli-Argentinean dual national Lior Rudaeff—Tanzanian agricultural intern Joshua Mollel and Thai agricultural worker Sudthisak Rinthalak.
Hamas is required to return all of the captives—living and deceased—as part of the U.S.-backed ceasefire agreement.

Netanyahu speaks out on Israel’s ‘most serious PR attack’
3 Nov, 2025 12:35
The leak of a video allegedly showing Israeli soldiers sexually abusing a Palestinian prisoner is the “most serious public relations attack against Israel,” Benjamin Netanyahu has said.
The footage, filmed at the Sde Teiman base near the Gaza border, showed soldiers leading a blindfolded detainee away and surrounding him with riot shields as they allegedly carried out the abuse.
Leaked to Israel’s Channel 12, it aired in August 2024 and caused an uproar.
The detainee was later treated for a ruptured bowel, severe anal and lung injuries, and broken ribs.
Five reservists were initially probed for rape, but their charges were later downgraded to “severe abuse,” according to a February indictment. All denied the charges, and the trial is ongoing.
The scandal reignited on Friday after the Israel Defense Force’s (IDF) top military lawyer, Maj. Gen. Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, admitted that she had approved the video’s release and resigned from her post.
At a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu decried the scandal, saying the leak “caused enormous reputational damage to Israel, to the IDF, and to our soldiers.”
“It is perhaps the most serious public relations attack Israel has experienced since its founding – I cannot recall one so concentrated and intense,” Netanyahu said, as cited by The Times of Israel, and called for “an independent and impartial inquiry.”
The leak followed the arrest of the reservists accused of abuse, which sparked right-wing riots demanding their release.
In her resignation letter, Tomer-Yerushalmi said she leaked the video amid pressure to halt the investigation into the incident, insisting her duty was to act on “reasonable suspicion of violence against a detainee.”
Multiple right-wing politicians, including Defense Minister Israel Katz, have since claimed the release of the footage from security cameras amounted to a “blood libel” against falsely accused soldiers, despite their indictments.
Last week, a criminal investigation was launched into the leak.
The case drew sharp criticism from a UN commission investigating Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, which said it “represented the tip of the iceberg.”
It noted that detainees at Sde Teiman and other Israeli detention sites were routinely shackled, beaten, and subjected to acts of sexual nature.
These and other findings earlier this year prompted the UN to accuse Israel of genocide against Palestinians.

British drone strike hits terrorists in Syria
November 3, 2025
A Royal Air Force remotely piloted aircraft conducted an airstrike near Aleppo on 4 September 2025, the Ministry of Defence confirmed.
The operation formed part of Operation Shader, the UK’s ongoing contribution to the global coalition against Daesh in Iraq and Syria.
According to the MoD, the drone’s crew identified a known Daesh terrorist entering a vehicle during a reconnaissance patrol.
After tracking the target and confirming that no civilians were at risk, the aircraft carried out a precision strike that destroyed the vehicle and killed the individual.
Operation Shader is the UK’s contribution to the international campaign against the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
The operation involves surveillance and air missions to support partner nations in maintaining regional security and preventing the group’s resurgence.
The strike was carried out by an RAF Reaper drone, which formally retired from service later in September 2025 after 18 years of operations.
First entering UK service in 2007, Reaper aircraft flew more than 173,000 hours in missions across Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.
The platform is now being replaced by the MQ-9B Protector RG Mk1, which offers longer endurance, improved sensors and weapons, and the ability to operate within civilian airspace.

Pakistan denies allowing US drone strikes from its soil
November 3, 2025 6:40 PM
Pakistan’s military has firmly rejected allegations by the Afghan Taliban that it allowed the United States to carry out drone attacks on Afghanistan from its territory.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry dismissed the claims as “completely false” during a media briefing at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday.
He emphasized that Pakistan maintains a clear and consistent policy of not permitting any country to use its soil for hostile actions against another state.
Lt Gen Chaudhry stated that Islamabad has no agreement with Washington that authorizes drone operations or strikes targeting Afghanistan.
He reiterated that Pakistan’s sovereignty remains non-negotiable and that no foreign force has been granted access to launch military activities from within the country.
The ISPR chief explained that Pakistan has made significant sacrifices in combating terrorism and will never allow its territory to be misused under any circumstances.
The military spokesperson also highlighted the importance of regional cooperation, urging all neighboring countries to work together to curb terrorism and avoid blame games.
He underlined that false accusations only strain relations and divert attention from the real challenges of peace and stability in the region.
Furthermore, Lt Gen Chaudhry called for responsible behavior from Afghanistan’s leadership to prevent the spread of misinformation that could harm bilateral ties.
In addition, the DG ISPR warned that India might attempt to stage a false flag operation through the maritime route to malign Pakistan.
He stressed that the security forces remain on high alert to counter any such provocation or fabricated narrative.
According to him, Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared to protect national interests and respond decisively to any external threat or aggression.
Lt Gen Chaudhry concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, mutual respect, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations.
He said that constructive dialogue, rather than baseless allegations, is the only way to ensure long-term stability and cooperation in South Asia.
The military’s firm stance reflects Islamabad’s ongoing efforts to maintain transparency, strengthen diplomatic engagement, and promote a peaceful regional environment.

U.S. Army Tests Autonomous Counter-Drone System for Armored Vehicles
Last updated: November 3, 2025
The U.S. Army is in the midst of testing a groundbreaking autonomous counter-drone system intended for implementation within Abrams main battle tanks and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs).
This initiative reflects a strategic response to the vulnerabilities these mechanized units face against inexpensive and agile drones, frequently deployed as aerial improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
In a recent update, Steven Simoni, President of Allen Control Systems, shared a photo depicting the company’s Bullfrog weapon station mounted on a Bradley during these trials.
According to him, the innovative system aims to restore tactical control to U.S. and allied ground forces encountering aerial threats.
The Bullfrog weapon station stands out for its capacity to support a 400-pound structure, equipped to hold an M240 machine gun chambered in the 7.62×51mm caliber.
The Bullfrog is powered by advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, computer vision, and proprietary control software, allowing it to adapt both legacy and modern weapon systems for accurate targeting.
It is specifically designed to engage small drones categorized as Class 1 to 3, with weights reaching up to 600 kilograms (around 1,320 pounds).
Moreover, the system is tailored to fit NATO-standard vehicles and features passive detection capabilities, achieving a remarkably low false-negative rate of under 2 percent.
The nature of this initiative—whether it constitutes a formal evaluation or a rapid prototyping project—remains somewhat ambiguous due to the absence of an official contract.
However, it highlights the growing threat presented by easily accessible unmanned aerial systems, particularly first-person view drones, which have proven increasingly adept at challenging even the most well-protected modern armored vehicles.
While existing protective measures such as the Trophy and Iron Fist systems offer substantial defense against anti-tank missiles and rocket-propelled grenades, they often fall short when it comes to effectively countering slow-moving, unpredictable drones with low signatures.
Additional weapon options, such as the Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station and locally mounted machine guns, necessitate a significant level of situational awareness from the gunner, thereby increasing the risk during engagements with these rapidly evolving aerial threats.
Furthermore, the advent of fiber-optic drones introduces additional complications, as standard electronic warfare and jamming techniques generally prove ineffective since control signals can be maintained through slender cables.
The Bullfrog system aspires to bridge this critical capability gap, providing an automated hard-kill solution to combat the growing proliferation of small drones on the battlefield.
This testing phase signifies a crucial advancement in enhancing vehicle defensive capabilities, ensuring that U.S. and allied ground forces are adequately prepared to face the enduring challenges posed by the rapid evolution of drone technology.

Drone Sightings Halt Flights At Major German Airports
03 November 2025
A string of drone incursions has led to repeated flight suspensions at Bremen, Berlin, and Munich airports, prompting security concerns and travel chaos across Germany.
Key Points
-
Suspend all flights at Bremen Airport on November 2, 2025, after spotting an unidentified drone near the airfield, causing nearly one hour of disruption.
-
Report multiple recent drone incidents at major German airports, including Berlin Brandenburg and Munich, leading to hundreds of flight delays and cancellations.
-
Highlight growing security concerns as German authorities enforce drone bans near airports and upgrade detection systems amid suspicions of organized foreign involvement.
Flights at Germany's Bremen Airport ground to a sudden halt on Sunday evening, November 2, 2025, after an unidentified drone was spotted hovering near the airfield.
According to police in Bremen, the drone appeared "in the immediate vicinity of the airport at around 7:30 p.m. (1830 GMT)," leading authorities to suspend all air traffic for nearly an hour.
The disruption was just the latest in a string of similar incidents that have plagued major German airports in recent weeks, raising pointed questions about aviation safety, national security, and the challenge of policing the skies.
The operator and origin of the drone remain a mystery. As police spokespersons told the press, "it was not clear who was piloting the drone."
The sighting triggered an immediate response: flights were halted, and the airport scrambled to ensure no aircraft would be at risk of collision. Operations resumed about an hour later, but the ripple effects were felt by travelers and airlines alike.
Local news outlet buten un binnen reported that a flight arriving from London was diverted to Hamburg, while a scheduled departure to London faced delays.
This wasn’t an isolated event. Just a few days earlier, on October 31, Berlin Brandenburg Airport—Germany's capital gateway—was forced to suspend flights for nearly two hours after another drone sighting.
And in early October, Munich Airport, the country’s second-largest, halted operations twice in as many days for similar reasons, affecting over 6,500 passengers and dozens of flights.
The Associated Press and AFP both noted that these repeated disruptions have caused hundreds of flights to be delayed or canceled across Germany, stranding travelers and throwing airline schedules into chaos.
The problem isn’t limited to Germany. Drones have been spotted over military bases, industrial sites, and critical infrastructure in a swath of European countries, including Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Poland, Romania, and Estonia, according to AFP and DPA.
In Denmark, for example, several airports experienced temporary closures in recent months due to drone incursions. The pattern is clear: Europe’s airspace is becoming increasingly vulnerable to unauthorized and potentially dangerous drone activity.
German authorities have responded with growing alarm. In 2025 alone, officials have issued repeated warnings about the escalating threat posed by drones, especially around airports and military sites.
Drones are strictly banned within a 1.5-kilometer radius of German airports, a rule designed to prevent precisely this kind of disruption.
Violating these restrictions isn’t just a minor infraction—it’s considered dangerous interference with civil aviation and can result in severe legal consequences.
But enforcing these rules is another matter entirely. The technology to detect and identify drones is advancing, but so are the capabilities of the drones themselves.
As a result, airports are racing to enhance their detection systems, hoping to prevent future groundings and protect passenger safety.
"The recurring drone incursions at German airports highlight a critical security gap," reported iNews, adding that the incidents "are no longer isolated events. They represent a systematic challenge requiring an immediate national response."
1/2
What’s behind this wave of drone activity? That question remains unanswered, but speculation is rife. The timing and locations of the incidents suggest something more organized than random hobbyists.
Berlin, a staunch supporter of Ukraine in its war with Russia, has hinted at possible foreign involvement, specifically pointing the finger at Moscow. Russian officials have consistently denied any connection to the drone flights.
Still, the geopolitical undertones are hard to ignore, especially as similar incidents have been reported near military installations and other sensitive sites across Europe.
For German authorities, the stakes are high. Each drone sighting not only disrupts travel but also exposes vulnerabilities in national security. A single drone, even a small one, poses a severe collision risk to aircraft during takeoff and landing.
Aviation safety protocols demand an immediate halt to all air traffic whenever a drone is detected in restricted airspace. Flights only resume after the area is declared clear, and thorough safety checks are completed.
As iNews explained, "A single drone poses a severe collision risk to aircraft during takeoff and landing. Aviation safety rules mandate an immediate halt to all traffic. Operations only resume after the airspace is confirmed clear."
The impact on travelers is far from trivial. Each hour-long suspension can cascade into missed connections, diverted flights, and logistical headaches for airlines.
In the Bremen incident, for example, a London-bound flight was unable to depart as scheduled, while an arriving flight from London had to be rerouted to Hamburg.
Multiply these disruptions across several airports and hundreds of flights, and the scale of the problem becomes clear.
Beyond the immediate chaos, there’s a sense of mounting frustration among officials and the public alike.
With the number of drone-related incidents on the rise, many are calling for more robust regulations, better technology, and stronger international cooperation to address the threat.
The German government, for its part, has signaled that it is taking the issue seriously, with ongoing police investigations at each incident site and efforts to upgrade airport security measures.
Other European countries are watching closely—and facing similar challenges. Norway and Belgium, among others, have reported drone overflights near critical infrastructure and military bases.
The broader European security community is now grappling with how to respond to what appears to be a coordinated, continent-wide phenomenon.
Despite the growing sophistication of drone detection systems, authorities admit that keeping up with the evolving threat is a constant game of cat and mouse.
Illegal drone flights near airports are treated with the utmost seriousness, but identifying and apprehending the operators remains a significant hurdle.
As police investigations continue, the hope is that enhanced surveillance and new counter-drone technologies will help close the security gap.
For now, travelers passing through Germany’s major airports are likely to face continued uncertainty.
The pattern of recent weeks—Bremen, Berlin Brandenburg, Munich—shows that no airport is immune. As the incidents pile up, the urgency for a comprehensive solution only grows.
With each new drone sighting, the message is clear: Europe’s skies are changing, and the rules of aviation safety will have to change with them.
Until then, passengers and authorities alike remain on high alert, hoping the next flight isn’t the one forced to land by an unseen intruder in the sky.

Lichens and drones reveal dinosaur bones
November 3, 2025
Vibrant orange-colored lichens are helping scientists discover dinosaur fossils in Canada, according to a study published in Current Biology.
An international team of paleontologists and remote sensing scientists have made an exciting discovery at UNESCO World Heritage Site Dinosaur Provincial Park, in Alberta.
They have found that certain lichen species preferentially colonize exposed dinosaur bones, creating distinctive spectral signatures that can be detected from 30 meters above ground using drones.
Dr. Brian Pickles, from the University of Reading (UK), and lead author of the paper, said, "This research highlights how modern organisms can help us to find ancient ones.
"It's remarkable to consider that these lichens, essentially miniature ecosystems, are founded upon the remains of dinosaurs that died over 75 million years ago.
Using drone technology to detect the spectral signatures of the lichens could potentially revolutionize how paleontologists search for fossils."
The team found that the two lichen species—Rusavskia elegans and Xanthomendoza trachyphylla—colonized as much as 50% of exposed fossil bones but less than 1% of surrounding rock fragments.
This likely occurs because dinosaur bones provide the alkaline, calcareous, and porous substrates these lichens favor.
Dr. Caleb Brown, from the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology (Canada), said, "This pattern of lichen growing preferentially on fossil bone has been noted for decades, but never quantified until now.
When first encountering high concentrations of exposed fossil bone-like bonebeds, it is often the 'meadow' of orange lichen that is noticed first, not the bones themselves."
Using Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (drones) with specialized sensors, the team successfully identified lichen-colonized fossils from aerial images with 2.5cm pixel resolution.
The lichens exhibit distinct spectral properties, showing lower reflectance in blue wavelengths and higher reflectance in infrared regions.
The method can offer significant advantages for paleontological prospecting, particularly in remote terrain where traditional ground surveys are challenging.
The approach could accelerate fossil discovery while reducing field costs and environmental impact.
The research builds on decades of anecdotal observations by paleontologists.
In 1980, paleontologist Darren H. Tanke speculated that the orange pigmentation of the lichen on Centrosaurus bones might be detectable by satellites—a prediction that seems closer than ever now that they can be found using airborne drone technology.
Dr. Derek Peddle, part of the remote sensing team from the University of Lethbridge (Canada), said, "This drone study lays the groundwork for mapping much larger areas using aircraft and satellites.
The new lichen indicators we've developed will help us find fossils across vast landscapes. It's exciting to combine our imaging technology with this international team's expertise to advance dinosaur discovery through remote sensing of lichen."
The team emphasizes that the method works well in semi-arid environments like the Canadian Badlands, where the specific lichen species thrive and bones remain exposed long enough for colonization.
They intend to explore the broader extent of this association in their future work.

Are they back? Mysterious brand reappears in a plantation in SC
03/11/2025 at 11:24 am
Are they back? Mysterious marks appeared in a wheat field on the morning of Monday (3), in Ipuaçu, in the west of Santa Catarina.
The new crop circle appeared on a property near the highway, right at the entrance to the municipality, and intrigues residents and researchers.
The design features a large circle as the main structure. Parallel to it, there is a braided line that runs along the entire side.
In the center of the formation, it is possible to observe a circle, a triangle and, at the exact point in the middle, a small central circle.
New crop circle in Ipuaçu
UFO researcher Luiz Prestes Junior explains that the first analyzes are being carried out with the collection of materials from the soil to validate if it is a real crop circle.
"What I can say is that because of the way in which the drawing was created and because of its complexity, it is a true crop circle", anticipates the ufologist.
Crop circle in Ipuaçu: why do they appear at this time of year?
The ufologist explains that we are officially within the period that crop circles appear, from mid-September to early November.
"During this period, the wheat harvest takes place, for example, it is when the stem is soft and it is possible to make the drawings.
The explanation is that the drawings appear at this time because it is the best time to build geometric figures that are identifiable", he adds.
For the ufologist, it is at this moment that maximum attention is needed in the analysis to validate whether the drawing is true or false.
According to UFO magazine, the first official record of a crop circle in Brazil took place in 2008, precisely in Ipuaçu. Since then, the phenomenon has been repeated year after year.
Some drawings have already been identified as human works, but others remain unexplained, fueling theories and leaving in the air the question that intrigues everyone: who or what would be behind these enigmatic signs?
History of crop circle sightings in Ipuaçu
The last record of crop circles occurred on October 14, 2024. Ufologist Luiz Prestes Junior explains that, after more than eight hours of travel, the team arrived in Ipuaçu to see the mysterious mark and talk to the people of the place.
In 2023, the mysterious brand emerged earlier, in September. However, the lack of alignment made it clear that the work was done by humans.
Luiz detailed that, in addition to the lack of alignment, the plants were out of standard and the stem was broken.
In October 2022, a perfect drawing impressed residents of the municipality.
Alcides Cores, researcher of paranormal phenomena and ufologist for UFO magazine, detailed that magnetic values were identified in the figure and in the vicinity, but with few significant changes.
Thus, according to the report, it is not possible to point out the real cause of the figure.
In November 2020, after two years without records, the crop circles returned to Ipuaçu.
The ufologist Ademar Jose Gevaerd was at the scene and said it was a figure composed of a circle of about 50 meters in diameter.
Within these circles were a triangle and three arches, formed by the bending of wheat plants, almost at ground level.
The first record of crop circles in Ipuaçu occurred on November 9, 2008, in the community of Toldo Velho, with circles of 19 meters in diameter located close to the asphalt.

Unearthed in Mexico: The Hand That Holds the Sphere Forbidden Relic Discovery
Nov 2, 2025
During an excavation in central Jalisco Mexico, a remarkable object was uncovered a carved hand presenting a sphere, accompanied by geometric tablets etched with symbols of the Eye, circuitry, and celestial alignments.
The level of craftsmanship, the material consistency, and the presence of ancient patination all suggest a technology and purpose far beyond what traditional archaeology can easily explain.
This piece, part of the expanding Forbidden Relics collection, may represent a direct symbolic or technological link between the Anunnaki mythos and pre-Columbian civilizations.
As testing continues (XRF, EDS, and SEM analyses), the deeper truth behind these designs is gradually revealing itself.
