Faith or Freedom? Why Catholic Principles Outlast Liberal Ideologies

https://gatewayhispanic.com/2025/11/faith-freedom-why-catholic-principles-outlast-liberal-ideologies/

In an age obsessed with “freedom,” few stop to ask what it truly means to be free. Liberalism — the dominant ideology of the modern West — promises liberty, tolerance, and progress. Yet in practice, it often produces relativism, moral confusion, and the collapse of the very institutions that sustain freedom.

By contrast, Catholic social teaching (Vatican link) has long defended a vision of man as a moral being created by God, endowed with rights but also with duties. The tension between these two visions — liberal autonomy versus Catholic moral order — defines much of today's political and cultural struggle. Continue…

The New Garment of Fear: China Manufactures “Anti-Stab” Clothing and Exposes the Left's Failure to Ensure Public Safety (Videos)

These garments, which incorporate special fibers capable of resisting sharp objects such as knives or bayonets, are presented as a solution for travelers and citizens facing the growing sense of insecurity in urban environments.

However, their existence reveals an alarming symptom: the need for personal protection against risks that should be controlled by the legitimate authorities of the State.

The comments came amid reports that Rachel Reeves is planning to target the wealthy with a mansion tax in the Budget later this month.

He told the Guardian: ‘The UK economy under the current leadership is doomed.'

‘The UK badly needs growth, but the way to deliver growth is through selective tax cuts… you are not going to grow the UK economy by taxing wealth or taxing air travel.’

India Could Cancel Up To 20% Of Its Planned Renewable Power Capacity As Buyers Dwindle

India may cancel up to 20% of its planned renewable power capacity as developers struggle to secure buyers for their electricity, according to Bloomberg.

The power ministry reviewed 42 gigawatts of green projects without power purchase agreements and recommended shelving those unlikely to find offtakers, according to people familiar with the private discussions.

Canceling projects could ease pressure on an overstretched grid but would be a blow to India’s goal of doubling clean energy capacity to 500 gigawatts by 2030. Nearly 44 gigawatts auctioned by central agencies still lack contracts, partly because state utilities — already financially strained — are hesitant to buy intermittent renewable power unless paired with storage. Trump Regulator Making Sure The "Debanking" Era Officially Over

A top bank watchdog said he was making sure big banks have finally ditched those “oops, we just destroyed your business because we don't like your political beliefs" - er, debanking rather, policies. You remember those, right? We sure do. It happened around the same time Google, Paypal and Amazon all banned us due to our (correct) take on the origins of Covid-19 and because they didn't like our (correct) take on the BLM movement.

For those that missed it, a slew of banks under the Biden administration outright cancelled people's accounts and didn't allow them access to a bank account based on the industry they worked in, or many times their political views (surprise, none of them were Democrats).

Feds claim electric vehicles reduce healthcare costs

https://www.rebelnews.com/feds_claim_electric_vehicles_reduce_healthcare_costs

Despite optimistic forecasts, falling EV sales led auto executives to seek an end to the EV mandate, pausing interim 2026 targets.

The Department of Environment claims electric cars reduce medicare costs, but couldn't specify savings at the Commons environment committee yesterday, as reported by Blacklock’s.

Megan Nichols, assistant deputy environment minister, testified that electric vehicles offer health and cost benefits to Canadians by reducing air pollution and healthcare expenses.

Cabinet's Electric Vehicle Availability Standard is projected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 362 million tonnes over 25 years, according to Assistant Deputy Nichols, who did not provide health benefit estimates.

Conservative MP Carol Anstey expressed skepticism regarding the 2035 gas vehicle sales ban, citing unsold EVs at dealerships are "tying up investment capital" and jeopardizing dealer viability.

With over $98 billion in combined investments ($46 billion) and taxpayer handouts ($52 billion), 2023 EV sales reached only 11.7% (546,000 EVs), making next year's 20% sales target unrealistic. That excludes costs for EV charging stations and rebates.

Despite optimistic forecasts, plummeting EV sales show these projections were a "complete fantasy," leading auto executives to seek an end to the EV mandate.

On September 5, Prime Minister Mark Carney prefaced his focus on restructuring the Canadian auto sector. “The suspension of the EV mandate for 2026 is part of helping with that,” he told reporters. Continue…

Ottawa’s WHO funding skyrockets — from $43 million to over $200 million in a single year

https://www.rebelnews.com/ottawa_s_who_funding_skyrockets_from_43_million_to_over_200_million_in_a_single_year

Since 2020, the Liberal government has funneled nearly half a billion dollars to the World Health Organization while Canadian healthcare crumbles and patients are left seeking euthanasia.

Canadian taxpayers are footing a massive and growing bill for the World Health Organization (WHO), according to new figures quietly tabled in Parliament.

A response to Order Paper Question Q-328, filed by Global Affairs Canada and answered November 3, 2025, shows that Canada’s contributions to the WHO have exploded since the pandemic began.

2020: $43 million

2021: $206 million

2022: $122 million

2023: $107 million

2024: $102 million

2025: $83 million (projected)

That’s roughly $663 million in just six years, making the WHO one of the top recipients of Canadian foreign aid.

Officials did not specify what portion of that funding was tied to pandemic recovery, vaccine initiatives, or ongoing membership dues — only that the money was channeled through Canada’s International Assistance Envelope, a $7 billion fund overseen by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development.

The WHO windfall is part of a wider surge in Ottawa’s support for multilateral institutions:

World Bank: from $3 million in 2020 to $129 million in 2024;

UN core contributions: up from $50 million last year to $135 million;

UNRWA: despite a supposed “pause,” funding has increased to $52 million;

International Organization for Migration: up from $20 million in 2021 to $59 million today.

Buried in the same disclosure, Global Affairs acknowledged that aid distributed through these organizations reached countries under Canadian sanctions, including China ($32 million), Venezuela ($58 million), and Iran ($3.5 million).

The Carney government has defended these ballooning transfers as “global solidarity.”

Carney’s 'Major Projects Office' exists only on paper — one employee, no contracts, $20 million budget

https://www.rebelnews.com/carney_s_major_projects_office_exists_only_on_paper_one_employee_no_contracts_20_million_budget

Appointed in June, CEO Dawn Farrell runs an office with a single staffer, no permanent location, and nearly $20 million in taxpayer funding.

The Carney government’s much-touted Major Projects Office, born out of Bill C-5, is little more than a line item in the budget with one full-time employee, no contracts, and no permanent office space, according to a Privy Council Office response to Order Paper Question Q-312, released November 3, 2025.

As of September 16, 2025, the “office” consisted of one public servant, a senior adviser (EX-02 level), plus a Governor-in-Council–appointed Chief Executive Officer, Dawn Farrell, named to the role in June. That’s it.

Yet the Carney government has already allocated $19.8 million for fiscal 2025-26 to support the office’s operations, including:

$5.3 million in salaries,

$12.2 million in non-salary spending, and

$2.3 million in benefit, accommodation, and service costs.

The office is supposed to streamline federal approvals for energy and infrastructure projects but as of mid-September, it had no signed contracts, no square footage confirmed, and was still using temporary accommodations while searching for space in Calgary. The Major Projects Office doesn't even have an office.

In other words, Canadian taxpayers are footing a $20-million bill for an “office” with no office and an executive team that could hold a meeting in the back seat of a Prius.

It’s a perfect snapshot of the Carney era: bloated bureaucracy, glossy announcements, and nothing to show for it.

LCBO information request reveals 'egregious bureaucratic corruption'

https://www.rebelnews.com/lcbo_information_request_reveals_egregious_bureaucratic_corruption

The reported $80 million cost for pulled U.S. products is likely an underestimate.

In August, the CBC filed a Freedom of Information request with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) to understand the fate, size, and disposal plans for these U.S. alcohol products removed in March. The LCBO took 64 days to respond—34 days longer than the legal 30-day limit.

Approximately $80 million worth of products were removed from Ontario store shelves as "active retaliation" in the trade dispute. This action only harms consumers, as selling existing stock before ceasing reorders would be more logical.

Even with an agreement to close, selling existing inventory with clear notices ("when this bourbon is gone, it's gone") is more logical. The "liquor corruption bureaucracy of Ontario," a Crown corporation, acted egregiously.

As an Ontarian taxpayer, David views the LCBO as a stakeholder. He believes its sole purpose, funded by taxpayers, should be to regulate and tax liquor, not to warehouse and retail it.

The reported $80 million cost for pulled products is likely an underestimate. The retail value was likely closer to a billion dollars, considering the removal of thousands of bottles of wine, bourbon, and beer from hundreds of stores.

David says the lack of transparency, hidden under "cabinet confidence," is unacceptable as these taxpayer-funded products are expiring without disclosure of discards.

The LCBO, as estate executors, is financially responsible for these taxpayer-funded purchases, and the public deserves to know their fate. The Crown corporation has a history of under-reporting, admitting to $6 million in annual theft, while unions claimed it was closer to $77 million, suggesting a desire to make the government look good.

Gov't departments riddled with criminal misconduct, from immigration fraud to child porn

https://www.rebelnews.com/govt_departments_riddled_with_criminal_misconduct_from_immigration_fraud_to_child_porn

The rot inside Canada’s federal bureaucracy runs deep. A sprawling order paper question (Q-315) has exposed an alarming pattern of criminal and unethical behaviour among public servants — spanning everything from immigration fraud and sexual misconduct to child pornography and theft.

The revelations came through responses tabled by multiple departments, each quietly admitting to cases that would get private-sector employees fired or even jailed.

Instead, in many cases, the government handed out little more than wrist slaps or simple reassignments.

At Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, one employee was caught aiding immigration fraud, while another was implicated in illegal activity abroad; their “discipline” was a reassignment.

At Crown-Indigenous Relations, several serious allegations — including fraud and theft — remain “under investigation” or have yet to be examined at all.

The National Research Council, which is supposed to house some of Canada’s top scientists, reported incidents of child pornography and break and enter that were referred to police.

The Canada Border Services Agency handed out a five-day suspension to an employee who paid for sexual services, while another staffer with known criminal associates was given a written reprimand.

Shared Services Canada admitted that “fewer than 10” employees were working under fake names, all of whom somehow received security clearance.

Even the Privy Council Office, which serves as the prime minister’s own department, confirmed an employee was caught leaking classified information.

And at the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, two employees were caught using illegal drugs in the very office responsible for enforcing federal law.

Perhaps most troubling: across multiple departments, the most common outcome for thieves and fraudsters wasn’t termination or prosecution, it was simply that they “left the department.”

Over 1,000 expired visa holders filed asylum claims under Carney government

https://www.rebelnews.com/over_1_000_expired_visa_holders_filed_asylum_claims_under_carney_government

With 2.5 million temporary visas expiring in just seven months, Ottawa admits it doesn’t know how many people actually left or how many stayed to claim asylum.

Canada’s immigration system is bursting at the seams, and the Carney government appears to have lost track of who’s actually in the country.

According to Order Paper Question Q-326, answered on November 3, 2025, by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), more than 1,070 temporary residents whose visas had already expired filed asylum claims between January 1 and July 31, 2025.

During that same period, an astonishing 2,551,055 temporary resident visas expired — covering visitors, students, and foreign workers. That’s over 2.5 million people whose legal status lapsed in just seven months.

The Liberal government says there were about 7 million temporary resident visas currently valid as of August 1, 2025, along with another 11 million electronic travel authorizations (eTAs), for a combined total of nearly 18 million valid temporary entries, more people than Canada’s entire population west of Ontario.

But when it comes to how many expired visa holders actually left Canada, the government punts: that question was “redirected” to the Canada Border Services Agency, which hasn’t provided an answer.

In plain language: the government doesn’t know how many temporary residents overstayed, how many left, or how many are now living here under asylum claims.

Even more troubling, the department admitted the data isn’t centrally tracked and said a full accounting “would require a manual collection of information” that was “not feasible within the time allotted.”

Canada is now issuing millions of temporary permits a year — and with record numbers of expired visas, untracked departures, and expired permit holders claiming asylum, the country’s immigration controls appear to be collapsing under their own weight.

Ottawa spent $1.5M to find out who has air conditioning

https://www.rebelnews.com/ottawa_spent_1_5_million_to_find_out_who_has_air_conditioning

While Canadians sweat through a cost-of-living crisis, the federal government blew seven figures on a Statistics Canada survey to discover that most people own an air conditioner.

It sounds like a parody headline, but it’s right there in black and white. According to a newly tabled order paper response (Q-335), the federal government spent $1.5 million on a Statistics Canada project studying which households in Canada use air conditioning.

The 2025 report, titled “A Heated Discussion: Who Uses Air Conditioning in Canada,” found that 68% of Canadian households have some kind of cooling system — a four-point increase from 2021.

The survey also broke down results by income, province and whether people rent or own their homes.

Ontario topped the charts, with 83% of households reporting AC access, while British Columbia lagged behind at 45% — likely thanks to its milder climate and sky-high hydro rates.

But the real heat came from Ottawa’s own wallet.

Despite being asked for details, the Industry Department refused to provide a line-by-line accounting of how the $1.5 million was spent, dodging questions on vendor names, contracts or whether the study was outsourced.

Conservative MP Fired After Flirting With Liberal Floor-Crossing on Budget Day

https://www.rebelnews.com/conservative_mp_fired_after_flirting_with_liberal_floor_crossing_on_budget_day

The Liberal Party remains three seats short of a majority government.

In a political self-own, Nova Scotia MP Chris D’Entremont has been ousted from the Conservative caucus after publicly musing to Politico that he was “considering” crossing the floor to join Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal government—on the very same day the Liberals dropped a $78-billion deficit budget.

According to journalist Kate McKenna, the Conservative spokesperson first confirmed D’Entremont had been removed from caucus, before clarifying he had technically resigned following the remarks. Either way, his brief moment of political indecision ended with the door hitting him on the way out.

D’Entremont’s comments landed just hours after Politico published its bombshell story about his alleged flirtation with the Liberals, a move that would hand Carney’s government an even tighter grip on power until 2029. “What a day,” remarked journalist Jasmin Laine, capturing the mood of a Conservative base already furious over the idea of defection which would put the Liberals within two seats of majority. A treaty announced yesterday with the Kitsumkalum gives away massive amounts of money, land, and power without ANY surrender of the Kitsumkalum’s claims to ongoing aboriginal title

https://breaking-news.ca/a-treaty-announced-yesterday-with-the-kitsumkalum-gives-away-massive-amounts-of-money-land-and-power-without-any-surrender-of-the-kitsumkalums-claims-to-ongoing-aboriginal-title/

A treaty announced yesterday with the Kitsumkalum gives away massive amounts of money, land, and power without ANY surrender of the Kitsumkalum’s claims to ongoing aboriginal title. That means British Columbians pay dearly but the tribe can keep coming back for more.

And of course, BC’s NDP and Conservative parties are both celebrating the deal.

Only OneBC will fight to protect BC’s future.

What the Kitsumkalum treaty includes:

•$158 million in cash from taxpayers

•46,050 hectares of formerly Crown and privately-owned land – that’s 4x the size of the City of Vancouver

•Control over vast lands and resources, including all subsurface resources under the transferred lands, management control over public parks, the rights to allocate 50,000 million cubic metres per year of water, and much, much more.

There is no obligation to treat non-indigenous members fairly in the management of the transferred money, land, or power.

As I’ve been saying, Cowichan is only the beginning.

We need to immediately suspend all talks with indigenous tribes about transfers of money, land, or power. We need to immediately repeal the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA), which directs governments to voluntarily sacrifice provincial sovereignty and resources.

And, ultimately, we need to demand an amendment removing aboriginal title from the constitution, so that the property rights of all Canadians stand on a firm and equal footing.

These land, money, and power grabs in the name of reconciliation are an existential threat to the survival of our province. No matter how well-intended they may have been at first, it is simply not possible to go down this path without bankrupting citizens and shattering the province into dozens of disfunctional ethnostates. Join us as we fight for a future in which every citizen has an equal opportunity to prosper. One BC. One law for all.

If there are no bodies in mass graves then Canadians deserve an apology from our government & those in the First Nation community who lied to everyone and ran a PSYOPS.

Singh on Student Visa Charged with Trafficking Fentanyl in Regina, SK, Out on Bail: Who Let Them In?

https://breaking-news.ca/singh-on-student-visa-charged-with-trafficking-fentanyl-in-regina-sk-out-on-bail-who-let-them-in/

Arunpreet Singh, 23, is out on bail after being busted back in May 2024 with 10 pounds of fentanyl and other drugs worth over $1 million in Regina, Saskatchewan, while his two co-accused — both named Manev, with no surnames — remain in custody, courts have confirmed with us.

All three youngsters were in Canada on student visas, trafficking millions of lethal doses of fentanyl and other drugs for another 20-year-old Indian “student” with no surname, who calls himself “Robin,” and who was arrested shortly after the initial operation, busted with 13 additional pounds of fentanyl.

“Robin” pleaded guilty in December 2024 and was sentenced to eight years in prison. He is scheduled to be deported after serving his sentence, according to the prosecutor.

But the question arises: how was a now-convicted 20-year-old Indian “student” able to get his hands on millions of dollars’ worth of drugs and hire three other Indian “students,” one of whom is now out on bail nonetheless? Where are the real kingpins? And are Canadian police and prosecutors only allowed to go after the young Singhs, not the big Singhs — the ones with big turbans — accused of running the show? The Bank of Canada just said we can not replace the U.S as a trading partner…

https://breaking-news.ca/the-bank-of-canada-just-said-we-can-not-replace-the-u-s-as-a-trading-partner/

And the U.S no longer wants to negotiate with us because Carney and Ford sabotaged the relationship.

The post highlights a Bank of Canada official’s recent statement that Canada’s 75% trade reliance on the US cannot be quickly replaced by other partners, amid slashed 2025 growth forecasts to 1.2% due to US tariffs under President Trump.

It blames Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford for derailing US trade talks via a controversial anti-tariff ad aired during the World Series, which Trump cited as a reason to halt negotiations despite Carney’s pleas to pull it.

This reflects widespread Canadian frustration, with users rating the situation as severely damaging—potentially an economic “10/10” crisis—fueled by political missteps and calls for stronger US alignment to revive prosperity.

2025 Budget Slashes Foreign Aid by $2.7 Billion Over Next Four Years

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s first budget tabled on Nov. 4 forecasts $2.7 billion in cuts to foreign aid over the next four years.

The budget predicts $561 million in cost reductions next fiscal year for Global Affairs Canada (GAC), rising to $1.1 billion per year of projected savings within two years, saying that Canada’s foreign aid spending will return to pre-COVID levels and focus on “countries that need it the most.”

GAC’s budget for this fiscal year is an estimated $8.1 billion.

The government says it’s returning its funding allocation closer to pre-pandemic levels.

“There will be reductions in development funding to global health programming, where Canada’s contribution has grown disproportionately relative to other similar economies,” the budget reads. “Some bilateral development programs will also be refined and adjusted.”

The government has not said which programs or nations will experience funding cuts, but says efforts will also be made to see how Canadian “contributions can be leveraged further,” along with reducing financial help for some international financial institutions. Continue…

Chrysler is recalling more than 20,000 Jeep vehicles in Canada over concerns of a faulty battery that can catch on fire even when the vehicle is not running.

The recall applies to 20,753 Canadian plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, according to Transport Canada. The vehicles impacted include Jeep Wranglers from 2021 to 2025, and Grand Cherokees from 2022 to 2025. The auto manufacturer said the recall only affects 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models. The recall was issued in the United States as well, and included 320,065 vehicles.

The recall says the battery pack may have cells with separator damage that can cause the vehicle to catch fire, even while parked and turned off.

Chrysler, owned by Stellantis, has said it is aware of 19 fires in vehicles and one injury connected to the battery pack defect, which includes nine vehicles that had received software updates released to fix the problem. Continue…

The Liberal government’s 2025 budget is proposing to provide more than $81 billion over five years to build up the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), as Canada works towards meeting NATO’s defence spending target of 5 percent of GDP by 2035.

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne tabled the Carney government’s first budget on Nov. 4, projecting a $78.3 billion deficit this fiscal year and a debt-to-GDP ratio that is expected to climb before stabilizing in the years ahead.

Champagne said the budget’s “generational investments” have four key priorities, including housing, infrastructure, defence and security, and productivity and competitiveness.

The budget sets out $30 billion in capital spending on defence and security, which Champagne called “the largest defence investment in decades.”

“These investments will modernise our fleets, expand Arctic and maritime surveillance, bolster cyber and space capabilities, and create high-paying careers for Canadian workers across the country,” the budget document reads. Continue…

Carney Says MP d‘Entremont Joining Liberals Is ’Exceptionally Valuable’

https://www.theepochtimes.com/world/carney-says-mp-dentremont-joining-liberals-is-exceptionally-valuable-5940538?ea_src=ca-frontpage&ea_med=medium-1

Prime Minister Mark Carney welcomed former Tory MP Chris d'Entremont in joining the Liberal caucus at an event they both attended in Ottawa.

“Chris’s decision to join the government caucus at this crucial moment for our country is exceptionally valuable, important,” Carney said during a Nov. 5 press conference related to his recently tabled budget.

D'Entremont, a Nova Scotia MP first elected in 2019, announced on Nov. 4 he was resigning from the Conservative caucus.

The move has brought the minority Liberals within two seats of a majority government, now having 170 MPs in the House of Commons.

This addition to the Liberal caucus could help them pass their budget tabled on Nov. 4, which would avoid an early election. The Conservatives and the Bloc Québécois have signalled their opposition to the budget, while the NDP said it will take time to review it. Continue…
