GM anons. I wanted to chime in on the FBI burn bags. Capstone records are permanent and should NEVER have been placed in burn bags unless they were deliberately trying to hide something. The ONLY acceptable explanation would be if the papers were copies and the originals, either digital or analog, were already properly catalogued in their RIMS systems for proper retention. The subject matter of the burn bags (Maralago raid, etc.) supports my suspicions that NARA’s former Chief Records Officer not only aided the raid but is assisting in the coverup. Before/during the raid, he worked at NARA, but switched to head the DOJ records branch very shortly afterwards (FBI is under DOJ jurisdiction).

They were deliberately working around Federal Records Act and FOIA laws with the use of aliases. The records would not be identified as permanent (Capstone) records and would not be scrutinized as heavily when eligible for destruction at 7 years (email) or 3-5 years typically for “working papers” (includes notes, drafts, etc.). They figured the records would only be found if someone knew to look for the aliases and they’re right except we got lucky when they investigated the SCIFs.
