Happening Now: Senate To Vote On Stopgap Funding Bill To Reopen Government

The Hill 11/4/2025

he Senate on Tuesday will take up another vote on a stopgap funding bill that could reopen the government after the lapse stretched into its fifth week.

Lawmakers in the upper chamber have already failed 13 times to reach the 60-vote threshold needed to advance the legislation, which would fund the government at previous levels until Nov. 21 โ€” though the House has floated extending that deadline. Senators on both sides of the aisle are feeling pressure to end the shutdown, poised to become the longest in U.S. history, but no deals have been made thus far.

President Trump has advocated for upending the filibuster rule, but Republican leaders have brushed off that suggestion.

The vote is expected to begin at 11:30 a.m. EST.

The Genetic Tango: Unraveling the DNA Dance

To comprehend the mental symptoms of inbreeding, we must first delve into the intricate world of genetics. At the heart of this genetic tango lies the concept of recessive gene expression. We all carry a mix of dominant and recessive genes, but in most cases, the dominant genes take center stage. However, when closely related individuals reproduce, the chances of both parents carrying the same recessive genes skyrocket.

This genetic roulette leads to increased homozygosity โ€“ a fancy term for having identical copies of genes. While this might sound harmless, itโ€™s anything but. Imagine a game of genetic Russian roulette, where the odds of pulling the trigger on detrimental traits increase with each spin. This is the reality of inbreeding.

The consequences of this genetic gamble manifest in what scientists call โ€œgenetic load.โ€ Itโ€™s as if our DNA carries a backpack filled with potential issues, and inbreeding makes that backpack heavier with each generation. This accumulation of genetic baggage can have profound effects on mental health, setting the stage for a range of cognitive, emotional, and developmental challenges.

no, they've spun their offspring roulette wheel way too many times, into sterility. Ergo, needing 'farms'.
