The tech giant deleted the accounts of three prominent Palestinian human rights groups — a capitulation to Trump sanctions.
A documentary featuring mothers surviving Israel’s genocide in Gaza. A video investigation uncovering Israel’s role in the killing of a Palestinian American journalist. Another video revealing Israel’s destruction of Palestinian homes in the occupied West Bank.
YouTube surreptitiously deleted all these videos in early October by wiping the accounts that posted them from its website, along with their channels’ archives. The accounts belonged to three prominent Palestinian human rights groups: Al-Haq, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights.
The move came in response to a U.S. government campaign to stifle accountability for alleged Israeli war crimes against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
The Palestinian groups’ YouTube channels hosted hours of footage documenting and highlighting alleged Israeli government violations of international law in both Gaza and the West Bank, including the killing of Palestinian civilians.

US ‘may be working on plan to denuclearize’ with Russia and China – Trump
The claim comes after the American president ordered the start of preparations for nuclear testing
US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he may be working on a plan to denuclearize in tandem with Russia and China.
Last week, Trump ordered the Department of War to begin preparations for nuclear testing, claiming the US is “the only country that doesn’t test.”
In response, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov has suggested starting preparations for full-scale nuclear tests, while President Vladimir Putin has noted that Moscow has long said it would adhere to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, provided other members do not violate it.
Speaking at the American Business Forum in Miami, Trump stated: “We redid our nuclear – we’re the number one nuclear power, which I hate to admit, because it’s so horrible.”
“Russia’s second. China’s a distant third, but they’ll catch us within four or five years,” the US president added. “We’re maybe working on a plan to denuclearize, the three of us. We’ll see if that works.”
Trump has accused Russia and China of conducting “secret” nuclear tests, although both Moscow and Beijing have denied the allegations. IAEA chief Rafael Grossi has also said the watchdog has no indication that either country has detonated a nuclear device.
Following Trump’s statement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that Moscow is still awaiting further “clarifications from the American side” regarding the full implications of the US president’s remarks.

“Allegedly attempting to smuggle biological materials under the guise of ‘research’ is a serious crime that threatens America’s national and agricultural security,” Attorney General Pamela Bondi said
Three Chinese scholars from a University of Michigan lab have been charged in connection with smuggling biological materials into the U.S.
Those charged on Wednesday are Xu Bai, 28; Fengfan Zhang, 27; and Zhiyong Zhang, 30, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Michigan. Bai and F. Zhang were charged with conspiracy to smuggle biological materials into the U.S., and Z. Zhang was charged with making false statements to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.
The men had J-1 visas and were conducting research at the University of Michigan lab of Xianzhong Xu.
Both this year and last year, Bai and F. Zhang received multiple shipments containing concealed biological materials related to round worms, which had been sent from China to the U.S. by Chengxuan Han, a Chinese citizen, according to the criminal complaint.
Han was in a Ph.D. program from the College of Life Science and Technology in the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, and in June, traveled to the U.S. to work in the Xianzhong Xu lab, commonly referred to as the Shawn Xu laboratory.
Recently, Han pleaded no contest to three counts of smuggling and one count of false statements, was sentenced, and removed from the U.S.
The university started an internal investigation into the lab after Han’s arrest and removal from the U.S. The three defendants refused to attend a mandatory meeting or participate in the investigation, resulting in their firing, which made them eligible for removal by the Department of Homeland Security.
They all booked a flight for Oct. 16 from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City to China. During a CBP inspection after they attempted to board the flight, Z. Zhang allegedly made false statements about Han, and Bai and F. Zhang allegedly told CBP officers that they had received packages from Han, including after her arrest or removal from the U.S.
As a result, Bai, F. Zhang, and Z. Zhang were all arrested and charged.
“Allegedly attempting to smuggle biological materials under the guise of ‘research’ is a serious crime that threatens America’s national and agricultural security,” Attorney General Pamela Bondi said. “We will remain vigilant to threats like these from foreign nationals who would take advantage of America’s generosity to advance a malicious agenda.”

“Article 4 of the Convention calls on parties to cut mercury use by phasing out listed mercury-added products. But in 2010, as the treaty took shape, negotiators made a major exception. Thimerosal-containing vaccines were carved out in the regulation,” Kennedy said, referring to the mercury-based preservative used to prevent microbial growth in vaccines.
The treaty, which began to phase out mercury in cosmetics and lamps, opted to allow the substance to be used in products that are injected into vulnerable people, pregnant women, and babies, the health secretary said.
“We have to ask: why? Why do we hold a double standard for mercury? Why do we call it dangerous in batteries, in over-the-counter medications, and makeup, but acceptable in vaccines and dental fillings?” he asked.
Kennedy said thimerosal has never undergone proper safety testing in human beings. He said that hundreds of peer-reviewed studies have identified the substance as a potent neurotoxin, carcinogen, endocrine disruptor, and mutagen.
“Thimerosal’s own label requires it to be treated as a hazardous material and warns against ingestion. There is not a single study that proves it safe,” he said. “That’s why in July of this year, the United States closed the final chapter on the use of thimerosal as a vaccine preservative, something that should have happened years ago.”
According to a March 2024 safety data sheet on Thimerosal, the substance is “considered hazardous” under the 2012 Hazard Communication Standard from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The substance may cause damage to organs through repeated or prolonged exposure. If a person ingests thimerosal or comes into contact with it via skin, they must immediately get in touch with a poison center or doctor, according to the fact sheet.
Beginning in 1999, thimerosal was removed from many vaccines in the United States after certain studies suggested that exposure to mercury in early stages could negatively affect children.

The Israeli Knesset (parliament) approved a bill in preliminary reading on Tuesday that would grant the government greater control over the country’s media sector.
According to a Knesset statement, the draft law introduces “comprehensive reforms in the field of broadcast regulation,” most notably by creating a single new regulatory authority to replace both the Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Council and the Second Authority for Television and Radio.

404 potential victims and 93 perpetrators identified during EMPACT Joint Action Days conducted by 32 countries across Europe
Over the last weeks, law enforcement, border guards and labour and tax authorities across Europe joined forces to identify and tackle labour exploitation. This recent edition of the EMPACT Joint Action Days targeted trafficking in human beings for labour exploitation purposes, with a special emphasis on the agricultural sector, gastronomy, and temporary work agencies. In particular, the involved authorities also took measures against the exploitation of non-EU nationals and refugees. Led by France and the Netherlands, and carried out by authorities from 32 countries with support from Europol and the European Labour Authority (ELA), the action days resulted in the arrest of 54 individuals and identification of 404 potential victims of human trafficking.
Overall, the results of the action include:
22 296 officers from law enforcement and labour and tax authorities participating in the action;
194 995 entities checked (including 73 218 persons, 11 815 locations, 26 412 vehicles and 83 958 documents)
93 persons suspected of trafficking human beings identified (of which 92 for labour exploitation)
54 persons arrested for various crimes (of which 44 for labour exploitation)
404 potential victims of human trafficking identified (of which 393 potential victims of labour exploitation)
341 new investigations in various crimes launched (of which 43 in labour exploitation)
The objective of this recurrent action is for authorities to focus on the forms of labour exploitation most pertinent or widespread in their respective countries. Sheinbaum says US ‘won’t’ attack cartels on Mexican soil
MEXICO CITY: Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Tuesday downplayed the likelihood of US military action against cartels on Mexican soil, following a report that Washington is considering deploying troops south of the border.
“That won’t happen,” Sheinbaum told reporters in response to an NBC News report that President Donald Trump’s administration is planning ground operations against her country’s powerful cartels.
“Furthermore, we do not agree” with any intervention, the left-wing Sheinbaum added.
Trump has accused Mexico of not doing enough to halt the flow of drugs into the United States.
In addition to designating several Mexican cartels as “terrorist” organizations, he offered in April to send troops to Mexico to fight drug cartels, a proposal that Sheinbaum rejected.
During a meeting with Sheinbaum in September, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised her anti-drug efforts and vowed the US would respect Mexico’s sovereignty.
But on Monday, NBC reported that the Trump administration has begun training troops and intelligence officers for a potential mission on Mexican soil.
The report, which cited four unnamed current or former US officials, said however that the deployment was “not imminent” and that a final decision had not been made.
An operation inside Mexico would mark a dramatic escalation of Trump’s military campaign against Latin American drug traffickers.
US strikes on alleged drug boats in the Pacific and Caribbean in recent weeks have killed at least 65 people.
So far, most of the strikes have targeted Venezuelan vessels.
But last week, four boats were blown up near Mexico’s territorial waters, resulting in at least 14 deaths.
A Mexican search for one reported survivor proved fruitless.
