Why not just deliver a varying basket of fruit, vegetables, and uncooked grains and beans, along with a printout of suggested preparation ideas? Offer the option to pick up some cheese and meat at a drop spot.

1) The current link between "jobs" and "healthcare" completely undermines the basic "capitalist" idea that workers are free agents making "economic" decisions. In our current actual system, they are very often simply desperately trying to preserve their "healthcare" and are effectively indentured servants.
2) A vast portion of the population (not just illegals, but we are morally obligated to provide them with some degree of emergency service if needed prior to deportation) have no "jobs", but they still need healthcare. This creates a dichotomy where some assiduously avoid it, and some seek to "take advantage" of seemingly free options. This isn't good for anyone, as we should be encouraging and guiding everyone towards better health without professional assistance.
3) People have naturally different attidudes towards seeing medical professionals. Some like it, some don't. The "healthcare system" should accomodate all ranges. If you want to try to "do it yourself" you should only be paying for the extremes when you need help, not the regular assistance for those who demand that.
