Saw on the BlancoLirion channel that the UPS plane suffered two failed engines on take off.

Anon was on KC-10 (aerial tanker) military version of the MD-11 years ago. Both are tri-engined.

I seem to recall the crew saying they could take off max payload on one engine if they had too. Could be military tanker version only had that ability.

UPS flight was near max fuel load to get to Hawaii plus cargo. Poor bastards were doomed no matter what they did. Engine pylon was designed to self separate under certain conditions like uncontained compressor failure. Looks like the pylon was further damaged after engine separated.

Picrel not related but depicts another bad day in aviation. Pic is remarkable. Air crew plainly visible. Aircraft literally destroyed yet all four engines still turnin' and burnin' for a few more seconds.
