Humans need incentives to do things. Back in the day you'd need more soldiers for your tribe, so children were cherished. Same way employees of a company should get stock options since they'd work harder, their company's stock increases, employee gets rewarded. Positive feedback loops / momentum.
If momentum is reversing that means there is a parasitic infection.
