The whole thing is hilarious. Talked about this at a meeting today. One of the guys had a 3D printer and made the same gun, using the best grade of plastic he could get, and made it completely solid.

 

He said he got 3 shots from it and then it went kaput - blew the barrel off on the 4th shot. Had the gun in his desk drawer under the 3D printer.

 

KEKKITY - the whole thing is REEEEEdiculous

this whole plastic gun/metal detector thing is crap - plastic rounds don't work

look up zip gun - easier

3D plastic printers are crap for anything but models

metal printers are half a million for a little one, and have questionable metallurgy

I have used it for some very specific projects anon. It is advancing, but there are sever strength issues with the metallurgy being fused in layers. For plastics, it works, but no quantity compared to inj molding costs. It's a prototyping thing at best, no matter the field, from my 10 years of screwing with it.
