BBC are scared. I heard a newscast I think Mike Davis, that the UK doesn’t have strong long laws from protection from defamation. The US has better laws for the protection of the accused. I’m sure Trump knew that.
So in the UK the BBC (gov owned) will lose a defamation suit faster than the USThat is why they say they won’t pay, (perhaps the UK gov told them to include that). they seem to be protecting the UK gov, their owners, because when Trump sue’s the UK for defamation the gov may have to pay a lot more.
It’s a stupid move by the BBC, because the BBC is the only government owned news. They force every citizen to pay $175 a year to read it, like a tax.
They are the DS mouthpiece of the government. The UK and BBC know the government will have to pay Trump, that’s why they are fighting it. They are pretending they are not owned and told what to print by the government.
Seriously that was probably the dumbest statement they could make publicly. They should have said their sorry and include the other part in legal pleadings.
