They have been on a journey to reduce/eliminate fuels with hi-energy density for the past 3 decades at least. Home heating oil “going bad” after a year or so. Pump gas going bad (and absorbing water” after a couple months. Shipping fuel requiring a lower energy density are just 3 of the many schemes that They put into place to reduce energy density of common fuels. In New York, they found out that they cannot “water down” natural gas. So they tried banning it entirely in new home builds.
