Corporate insiders are selling near record highs. 655 major U.S. companies have gone bankrupt this year, the worst in 15 years.

655 US large companies have gone bankrupt year-to-date, the highest number in 15 years.

This has already surpassed all previous full-year totals since 2011, except for 2024.

Since 2022, bankruptcies have risen nearly +100%.

This comes as 68 companies filed in October, 66 in September, and 76 in August, the highest monthly reading in at least 6 years.

Industrials have seen the highest number of bankruptcies in 2025, at 98, followed by consumer discretionary and healthcare, at 80 and 45, respectively.

Green card-holding Mexican mayor of Kansas town voted illegally in US elections

Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach’s office filed charges in Comanche County last week.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed more voting records of Jose “Joe” Ceballos-Armendariz, 54, an alien from Mexico, who committed several felonies when he illegally voted in numerous elections in the United States—a felony. The Attorney General of Kansas is prosecuting him for three counts of voting without being qualified and three counts of election perjury.

This is not the first time Ceballos-Armendariz broke our nation’s laws. In 1995, he was convicted of battery.

Ceballos-Armendariz was granted a green card in 1990. He applied for U.S. citizenship in February 2025.

“This alien committed a felony by voting in American elections. If convicted, he will be placed in removal proceedings. President Trump and Secretary Noem gave states access to the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program to ensure only Americans vote in American elections,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “The SAVE program is a critical tool for state and local governments to safeguard the integrity of elections across the country. Our elections belong to American citizens, not foreign citizens.”

Police mental health unit under the spotlight after the deaths of 10 people

The officer in charge of training NSW Police recruits in responding to mental health crises was found, and cleared, of police misconduct in a fatal mental illness response.

The ABC has uncovered the unit had just three officers tasked with training the entire 16,000 police force before it was rebranded.

It comes as video shows police telling Collin Burling's partner "you're gonna be next" after the Waterloo man died in custody during a mental health episode earlier this year.

Matthew Hanlon, an inspector at the time, was appointed to helm the Mental Health Intervention Team (MHIT) despite a police watchdog report making adverse findings about his role in a fatal mental health response.

The now chief inspector was found by the Police Integrity Commission to have committed police misconduct in the 2009 death of Adam Salter in Sydney.

Mr Salter was shot dead by police while wielding a knife during a mental health episode in Lakemba where police mistakenly fired a pistol instead of a taser.

The commission in 2013 found the then-Inspector Hanlon filed a situation report containing false information provided to him by his colleagues who responded to the incident and killed Mr Salter.

"The commission is of the opinion Matthew Hanlon engaged in police misconduct by not making a record, or causing a record to be made, of who had supplied him with the items of information that he included in the situation report prepared by him," the final report said.

Chief Inspector Hanlon was never charged with any offences but four of his police colleagues were tried, and cleared, in the District Court for lying to the integrity commission.

NSW Police in a statement said a subsequent internal Professional Standards investigation cleared Chief Inspector Hanlon of any wrongdoing.

The ABC understands that about 18 months after being cleared in 2013, he was appointed to lead the MHIT.
