Venezuela's Maduro Seeks 'Face-to-Face Talks' With Trump Officials

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro made clear early this week that he'd be willing to hold "face-to-face" talks with US officials and warned President Trump against starting a war with his country.

"In the United States, whoever wants to talk with Venezuela will talk, face to face, without any problem," Maduro said on his weekly TV program, comments that came after Trump suggested that his administration "may" be holding talks with the Venezuelan government.

But Trump also told reporters on Monday that he wouldn’t rule out sending troops into Venezuela, and the major US military buildup in the Caribbean continues. Maduro said that if Trump ordered military strikes on Venezuela, it would be the "biggest mistake of his life."

Maduro suggested that political factions within the US are trying to hurt Trump before the 2026 congressional elections by pressuring him on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and pushing him to go to war with Venezuela. "They want President Trump to attack Venezuela militarily, which would be the end of his political leadership and his name," the Venezuelan leader said, according to the Miami Herald.

Maduro has previously focused his criticism on Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has been leading the push toward war with Venezuela.

"Mr. President Donald Trump, you have to be careful because Marco Rubio wants your hands stained with blood, with South American blood, Caribbean blood, Venezuelan blood," Maduro told reporters when the US began its bombing campaign against alleged drug boats in the region.

Following the first US strikes on boats in the region, Maduro sent a letter to Trump urging for diplomacy and stating his readiness to talk with Trump’s special envoy, Ric Grennel, who met directly with the Venezuelan leader back in January.

Despite the US push toward war, Venezuela has still been cooperating on deportation flights from the US. Between March and mid-October, the US conducted 40 removal flights to Caracas, deporting about 8,000 Venezuelan nationals.

Here’s Why The Feds Are Targeting Charlotte With Immigration Raids

Federal immigration authorities have descended upon their next target for mass deportation raids: Charlotte, North Carolina, a city the Trump administration says has been operating as a sanctuary for illegal immigrants.

While Charlotte isn’t a well-known sanctuary like New York or Los Angeles, the Trump administration laments that its leaders have failed to hand over hundreds of illegal immigrant criminals to ICE.

The Department of Homeland Security said there’s roughly 1,400 illegal immigrant criminals sitting in Charlotte’s jails that local authorities are refusing to turn over to federal authorities.

“North Carolina sanctuary politicians are protecting the nearly 1,400 criminal illegal aliens in Charlotte’s jails by REFUSING to turn them over to ICE, ultimately releasing these monsters into North Carolina’s neighborhoods,” DHS wrote on X Monday.

In March, ICE arrested six illegal immigrant criminals who had been released by the Mecklenburg Sheriff’s Office, which ignored federal detainers, according to the agency.

After the operation, there were still 18 other targets “at large who also had detainers that were not honored,” ICE said at the time, adding that they’ve “been unable to locate those individuals, and they remain at large and pose a potential danger to the community.”

Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden cut a partnership with ICE in 2018 that allowed federal agents to enter the jails and take illegal immigrant inmates into custody. Since then, he’s required ICE to provide warrants signed by a judge in order to take in detainees set to be released, according to the Washington Examiner.

McFadden defended that he’s “cooperating” with the law by not honoring detainer requests without judicial warrants, he told the news outlet.

Meanwhile, ICE accused McFadden of adopting a “selective approach” that’s putting public safety at risk.

“While the Sheriff asserts an understanding of what a detainer is and is not, the reality is that declining to cooperate with ICE undermines public safety,” ICE spokesman Lindsay Williams told the Washington Examiner.

“By refusing to notify ICE prior to the release of these individuals, the Sheriff knowingly allows potentially dangerous individuals to evade federal immigration enforcement and to be released back into the community,” Williams added.

The Trump administration deployed Border Patrol agents to Charlotte over the weekend as part of an operation dubbed “Charlotte’s Web,” which has already yielded more than 130 arrests of illegal immigrants with criminal records ranging from aggravated assault to felony larceny, according to DHS.

Protesters have responded by organizing demonstrations to push federal agents out of the city.

North Carolina Democrat Governor Josh Stein condemned the federal operation in a video statement.

“We’ve seen masked, heavily armed agents in paramilitary garb driving unmarked cars, targeting American citizens based on their skin color, racially profiling, and picking up random people in parking lots and off of our sidewalks,” Stein said.

Some locals have also cowered in the presence of the feds.

Roughly 27,000 students were absent from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools on Monday, which was nearly three times the number of absences from one week earlier, according to The Charlotte Observer.

Some local businesses have also shut their doors, fearing that their customers or employees will be targets of the raids.

“I’m not going to risk my customers,” Manolo’s Bakery owner Manolo Betancur told WCNC of his decision to close his business. “Safety is more important than any money, any profits or any economic system.”

Ukrainian energy minister dismissed as corruption fallout expands

Parliament voted to fire Svetlana Grinchuk shortly after approving the dismissal of the justice minister

The Ukrainian parliament has voted to dismiss Energy Minister Svetlana Grinchuk, marking the second high-level ouster in a single day as the government struggles to contain a growing corruption scandal linked to a close ally of Vladimir Zelensky.

Lawmakers approved Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko’s request to fire Grinchuk on Wednesday, shortly after voting to dismiss Justice Minister German Galushchenko. Galushchenko previously served as energy minister before handing the post to his then-deputy Grinchuk during a cabinet reshuffle earlier this year. Both dismissals received unanimous approval from MPs who voted.

The officials were drawn into an alleged kickback network operating inside the state-run nuclear energy company Energoatom. Businessman Timur Mindich, a longtime associate of Zelensky, was charged last week by the Western-backed National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), which claims he and accomplices extracted at least $100 million from contractors.

The broader graft probe has implicated additional senior figures, including former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and former Deputy Prime Minister Aleksey Chernyshov. Zelensky is also facing mounting calls to remove his chief of staff, Andrey Yermak, whom observers and critical officials see as the political linchpin of the alleged criminal network.

Opposition parties have moved to capitalize on the turmoil, pushing for the dismissal of the entire Sviridenko cabinet and demanding the formation of a coalition-backed government.

Zelensky’s Servant of the People party, which won a commanding majority in 2019, has shown signs of internal fragmentation in recent weeks. His earlier attempt to curb NABU’s independence – a move reversed after Western backlash – and the unfolding scandal have reportedly shaken MPs’ loyalty to the Zelensky team.

Trump: Everything was a new scam. Green, green, green. Look, I'm all for the environmental everything. I'm all for climate change. You know, they have a new word, climate change. It used to be global warming. It's global warming! Well, that didn't work because it started coming down. They did the global cooling thing, then they just said, “We can't keep up with this. It's too much. So, we'll go, perfect words: climate change!”

They're covered. If it rains, if it snows, if it's warm, it's climate change is destroying the world! Remember? The world was supposed to have been gone two years ago. They gave us 12 years, Howard, to live, right? 12 years, but that was 14 years ago. The world was going to burn up. But it got actually much cooler.

These people. It's a little conspiracy out there. We have to investigate them immediately. They probably are being investigated.

Australian super funds in showdown for Israel war crimes investments as member meetings loom

Industry fund giants Hesta and Vision Super have cut ties with Israel, standing out among Australia’s large investors for compliance though earning vicious attacks in the Zionist media.

Hesta and Vision Super have weathered an hysterical spate of attacks by Rupert Murdoch’s The Australian in recent weeks, accused of dishonesty, “cosmic stupidity”, being “nut-jobs”, “possibly in breach of the law” and failing to understand the “despicable” Hamas.

All this for simply doing the right thing. Their exit from investments associated with war crimes and the genocide in Palestine comes as Australia’s $4.2 trillion superannuation heads into its annual meetings season with members next week.

Despite the pearl-clutching in the pro-Israel media, HESTA and Vision Super actually stand out in Australia’s investment community for adhering to their own human rights policies. It is their duty.

While other large funds including Australian Super and have refused to adhere to their own obligations under the UNGP (United Nations Guiding Principles on Human Rights), in September, HESTA, the fund for health and community services workers, divested from several Tel Aviv Stock Exchange listed banks and from bonds issued by the State of Israel.

The decision followed months of sustained pressure from members, including a petition with more than 3,300 signatures urging the fund to

stop using our superannuation to fund genocide

A HESTA spokesperson said the move was driven by risk mitigation.

“To protect member returns, a couple of months ago we exited holdings in several banks listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and bonds issued by the State of Israel due to an assessment of higher risk.”

Vision Super followed in late October, dumping its Israeli stocks and bonds, citing the United Nations finding that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza as a critical factor in their decision and the requirement under international law that governments and corporations undertake due diligence to ensure they are not complicit.

The divestment decision follows a two year campaign by Australian Services Union for Palestine.

Nvidia posts $31.9B profit and pours billions into its own customers and the questions are growing

“Nvidia reported fiscal third-quarter earnings and revenue that topped Wall Street expectations on Wednesday and provided stronger-than-expected sales guidance for the fourth quarter.

Shares of the AI chipmaker rose more than 4% in extended trading.

Here’s how the company did, compared with estimates from analysts polled by LSEG:

Earnings per share: $1.30 adjusted vs. $1.25 estimated

Revenue: $57.01 billion vs. $54.92 billion estimated

Nvidia said it expects about $65 billion in sales in the current quarter, versus $61.66 billion expected by analysts.

The company said net income in the quarter rose 65% to $31.91 billion, or $1.30 per share, from $19.31 billion, or 78 cents per share, in the year-ago period.”

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/11/19/nvidia-nvda-earnings-report-q3-2026.html

That $31.91 billion jump lands harder than anything else here. Numbers that size push everything out of the way and everybody pretends it’s normal because they have to, but it never is.

“Nvidia’s Profit Jumps 65% to $31.9 Billion. Is It Enough for Wall Street?

The company, which makes the computer chips essential to the artificial intelligence boom, also said revenue in its recent quarter rose to $57 billion… In recent months, Nvidia has worried investors because it is making investments in some of the customers that buy its chips. The deals have raised questions about whether Nvidia is paying itself. For example, it announced it would invest $100 billion in OpenAI, which makes ChatGPT. The start-up receives that money as it buys or leases Nvidia’s chips.

On Tuesday, it announced a similar deal with another A.I. company: Nvidia will invest $10 billion in Anthropic, which will purchase $30 billion in A.I. computing backed by Nvidia chips. Goldman Sachs has estimated that Nvidia will make about 15 percent of its sales next year from what critics call circular deals.

“The fundamentals for the company are still intact, but you have these clouds that keep popping up,” said Daniel Morgan, a senior portfolio manager at Synovus, a bank.”

Judge Boasberg Revives Criminal Contempt Proceedings Against Trump Over Alien Enemies Act Deportations

A federal judge said Wednesday he plans to revive long-stalled criminal contempt proceedings against Trump administration officials who authorized deportation flights to land in El Salvador in March even after the judge ordered them to turn the planes around.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, whose initial contempt proceedings were stymied for seven months by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, said he had the green light to resume after the appellate court lifted the hold on his case last week.

“Justice requires me to move promptly on this,” Boasberg said during a hearing on a lawsuit brought on behalf of men deported under President Donald Trump’s unprecedented peacetime invocation of the Alien Enemies Act. “I will be going forward with it.”

The move by Boasberg, the chief federal district court judge in Washington, reopens one of the most fraught chapters of Trump’s second term: the president’s extraordinary invocation of wartime powers to summarily deport 137 Venezuelans to a notorious anti-terrorism prison in El Salvador. Trump labeled the men members of Tren de Aragua, a violent transnational gang, which his administration labeled a terrorist organization.
