Putin ‘most popular leader in the world’ – Tucker Carlson

The primary reason is that the Russian president puts his country’s interests first, according to the US journalist

Russian President Vladimir Putin is the most popular leader in the world, American journalist Tucker Carlson has claimed, in an interview with RTVI US.

Outside of Western Europe, Canada, and the “Anglo-sphere,” it is almost impossible to meet someone who doesn’t like Putin, Carlson told the network.

”He is the most popular leader in the world, by far,” Carlson said, noting that the primary reason for Putin’s global popularity is the fact that he has “put his own country’s interests above his own in a lot of ways.

In ways that Western leaders don’t.”

Asked if his perspective on Putin’s worldview had changed after an interview with him in February 2024, Carlson said that he was surprised to realize that the Russian president “actually likes the West.”

And that he probably likes it “way more than anyone who would potentially replace Putin.”

In his interview with RTVI US, Carlson also suggested that the US, Western Europe, and most of the industrialized world, are “in a decline phase” while Russia is experiencing a “spiritual revival” and is proving to be a prosperous country with “a sense of self-worth and a sense of purpose.”

He further proposed that this was one of the reasons the West “hates it so much” and wants to destroy it.

Carlson told Germany’s Bild, in July, that while Putin had been doing a “great job for Russia,” Western leaders were failing their people.

“Your country is going down, Russia is going up. You should be mad at your own leaders. You are mad at Putin instead,” he told the outlet.

Carlson went on to suggest that German officials were attacking Putin and Russia to distract the public from domestic economic and migration issues.

Pope Leo XIV gives British Crown perpetual honor and special chair at papal basilica

By Timothy Nerozzi October 17, 2025 12:29 pm

King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, are preparing for a state visit to the Vatican next week that will bring the British Crown and Holy See closer than they have been since the 16th century.

Charles and Camilla will meet with Pope Leo XIV on Thursday as part of a state visit to Vatican City. The two world leaders will dialogue on two levels — as heads of sovereign states and supreme authorities within their respective religious institutions.

They will pray together in the Sistine Chapel alongside Catholic and Anglican clergy — the first such ecumenical service of its kind in over 500 years and a breakthrough that a Buckingham Palace spokesperson described as “historic.”

“It will mark a significant moment in relations between the Catholic Church and Church of England, of which His Majesty is Supreme Governor, recognising the ecumenical work they have undertaken and reflecting the Jubilee year’s theme of walking together as ‘Pilgrims of Hope,'” the spokesperson said of the trip.

“It marks a historic moment in the journey of reconciliation between our Churches,” said Archbishop Flavio Pace, the secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity at the Vatican. “It celebrates how far we’ve come-and offers hope for the future.”

Pope Leo XIV will also be dusting off a long-dormant place of honor for the British royal within the diocese of Rome, though modified and qualified to reflect his status as supreme governor of the schismatic Church of England.

Following his visit to the Sistine Chapel and meeting with Pope Leo XIV, Charles will be escorted to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls — one of four major papal basilicas in Rome. It is the burial place of St. Paul, one of the founders of the Catholic Church alongside St. Peter.

The basilica is named for its extraterritorial status. It belongs to the Holy See but sits outside the ancient Aurelian Walls of Rome.

Papal basilicas have traditionally been associated with a royal patron. King Felipe VI of Spain is the protocanon of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, as were his predecessors. French President Emmanuel Macron is the honorary canon of the Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran, a role the presidency inherited from the French monarchy.

The Benedictine monastery attached to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls once enjoyed patronage from the British Crown, dating back to seventh-century Saxon kings who provided funds to Rome for the upkeep of St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s tombs.

This relationship was ultimately shattered by the English Reformation.

William Jefferson Blythe aka Bill Clinton

Clinton was bornWilliam Jefferson Blythe IIIon August 19, 1946, at Julia Chester Hospital in Hope, Arkansas.[4]

He is the son of William Jefferson Blythe Jr., a traveling salesman who died in an automobile accident three months before his birth, and Virginia Dell Cassidy (later Virginia Kelley).[5]

Blythe had initially survived the crash, but drowned in a drainage ditch. His parents married on September 4, 1943, but this union later proved bigamous, as Blythe was still married to his fourth wife.[6]

Virginia traveled to New Orleans to study nursing soon after Bill was born, leaving him in Hope with her parents Eldridge and Edith Cassidy, who owned and ran a small grocery store.[7]

At a time when the southern United States was racially segregated, Clinton's grandparents sold goods on credit to people of all races.[7][8][9][10][11]

In 1950, Bill's mother returned from nursing school and married Roger Clinton Sr., who co-owned an automobile dealership in Hot Springs, Arkansas, with his brother and Earl T. Ricks.[7]

The family moved to Hot Springs in 1950.[12]

Although he immediately assumed use of his stepfather's surname, it was not until Clinton turned 15[13] that he formally adopted the surname Clinton as a gesture toward him.[7]

Clinton has described his stepfather as a gambler and an alcoholic who regularly abused his family.

The physical abuse only ceased after a then-14-year-old Bill challenged his stepfather to "stand and face" him, though the verbal abuse continued.[14]

Bill would eventually forgive Roger Sr. for his abusive actions near the latter's death.[15][16]

William Jefferson Clinton (né Blythe; born August 19, 1946) is an American politician and lawyer who served as the 42nd president of the United States from 1993 to 2001.

A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the attorney general of Arkansas from 1977 to 1979 and as the governor of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981, and again from 1983 to 1992.

Clinton, whose policies reflected a centrist "Third Way" political philosophy, became known as a New Democrat.

Born and raised in Arkansas, Clinton graduated fromGeorgetown University in 1968, and later from Yale Law School, where he met his future wife, Hillary Rodham.

After graduating from law school, Clinton returned to Arkansas and won election as state attorney general, followed by two non-consecutive tenures as Arkansas governor.

As governor, he overhauled the state's education system and served as chairman of the National Governors Association.

Clinton was elected president in the 1992 election, defeating the incumbent Republican Party president George H. W. Bush, and the independent businessman Ross Perot.

He became the first president to be born in the Baby Boomer generation and the youngest to serve two full terms.

Georgetown has educated more U.S. diplomats than any other university, as well as a number of American politicians and civil servants.

Founding

In 1634, Jesuit settlers from England founded the Province of Maryland in colonial-era British America.[13]

In 1646, the defeat of the Royalists in the English Civil War led to stringent laws against Catholic education and the extradition of known Jesuits from the colony, including missionary Andrew White, and the destruction of their school at Calverton Manor.[5]

During most of the remainder of Maryland's colonial period, Jesuits conducted Catholic schools clandestinely.

Following the end of the American Revolutionary War, plans to establish a permanent Catholic institution for education in the United States were realized.[14]

At Benjamin Franklin's recommendation, Pope Pius VI appointed former Jesuit John Carroll the first head of the Catholic Church in the United States, even though the papal suppression of the Jesuit order was still in effect.

Carroll began meetings of local clergy in 1783 near Annapolis, where they orchestrated the development of a new university.[15]

On January 23, 1789, Carroll finalized the purchase of the property in Georgetown on which Dahlgren Quadrangle was later built.[16]

Future Congressman William Gaston was enrolled as the school's first student on November 22, 1791, and instruction began on January 2, 1792.[15]
