NASA’s 2025 Astronaut Candidates: Shaping Artemis Exploration

Nov 24, 2025

When NASA’s 2025 astronaut candidates arrived at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston this fall, they stepped into history, sharing a common mission to master the skills and teamwork that define NASA’s next era of exploration.

Selected from a pool of more than 8,000 applicants, the new class represents a range of backgrounds — military test pilots, engineers, a physician, and a scientist — but all were inspired by moments in their lives that set them on a path to space.

They will spend nearly two years in training before becoming eligible for missions to low Earth orbit, the Moon, and eventually, Mars.

When they graduate, they will join NASA’s active astronaut corps, advancing science aboard the International Space Station and supporting Artemis missions that will carry human exploration farther than ever before.

During the class announcement at Johnson on Sept. 22, 2025, Center Director Vanessa Wyche celebrated the moment as a milestone for exploration.

“Today is an exciting day for our nation and for all of humanity as we introduce NASA’s 2025 astronaut candidates — the next generation who will help us explore the Moon, Mars, and beyond,” Wyche said.

“Each one of these candidates brings unique experiences and perspectives that reflect the diversity of America and the spirit of exploration that defines NASA.”

Behind their new blue flight suits are years of preparation and stories as multifaceted as the missions they will one day support.

Different Roads to the Same Horizon

Some of the candidates built their careers in the air, where precision, communication, and teamwork were part of every mission. Former U.S. Navy pilot and test pilot Rebecca Lawler says that is exactly what drew her to NASA.

“All of these people are coming from different disciplines and levels of expertise, and you’re all working together to get science to fly,” she said. “That’s what excites me most — bringing those experiences together as a team.”

Imelda Muller, an anesthesiologist and former U.S. Navy undersea medical officer, said her experience supporting experimental diving teams taught her how people from different backgrounds can come together under one mission, something she sees echoed at NASA.

Muller remembers looking up at the night sky as a kid, able to see almost every star on a clear night.

Her grandfather worked on the Apollo program and used to share stories with her, and she says the mix of stargazing and imagining those missions inspired her dream of becoming an astronaut.

Anna Menon, a biomedical engineer and former flight controller, has seen the human side of spaceflight from the ground and from space.

She supported astronaut health aboard the space station from the Mission Control Center in Houston and served as a mission specialist and medical officer aboard SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn mission.

"As more people venture into space, we have this incredible opportunity to learn how the human body changes in microgravity. That knowledge will help keep crews healthy as we go farther than ever before."

Anna Menon

NASA Astronaut Candidate

A Houston native, she discovered her passion for exploration in the fourth grade during a field trip to Johnson. “That experience lit a fire in me to want to be part of the space industry,” she said.

The Language of Human Spaceflight

For the test pilots — including Adam Fuhrmann, Cameron Jones, Ben Bailey, and Erin Overcash — flight testing taught adaptability, composure, and the discipline to make quick decisions when it matters most.

As Fuhrmann put it, it is about knowing when to lead and when to listen.

"In flight test, nothing happens alone. We work with incredible engineers and professionals to plan and execute complex missions. That teamwork translates perfectly to human spaceflight."

Adam Fuhrmann

NASA Astronaut Candidate

Every astronaut candidate will spend nearly two years learning spacecraft systems, practicing spacewalks in the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory, flying T-38 jets, and studying geology, robotics, and survival training.

As U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer and helicopter test pilot Ben Bailey said, it is not one skill that matters most — it is the combination.

“Each one is exciting on its own — flying, language training, spacewalks — but getting to do them all together, as a crew, that’s the best part,” Bailey said.

During the event, current astronauts welcomed the new class and shared advice drawn from their own journeys in human spaceflight.

“Thankfully, you will have some of the most talented, passionate instructors and an incredibly dedicated team here at NASA,” said NASA astronaut Chris Williams.

“Some of the most special moments will come as you find how much you get to learn from each other.”

From the International Space Station, NASA astronaut Zena Cardman encouraged the candidates to “learn everything you can, get to know each other, and enjoy the ride.”

NASA astronaut Jonny Kim followed with a reminder every explorer carries forward: “The people sitting beside you now will become lifelong friends.”

Explorers of the Golden Age

From geologist Lauren Edgar, who worked on the Curiosity Mars Rover and the Artemis III science team, to engineers like Yuri Kubo, who completed seven NASA internships, and Katherine Spies, who designed and tested flight systems that make exploration possible, each brings a layer of expertise to the agency’s future on the Moon and beyond.

"I’ve always loved figuring out how things work and finding ways to make them better. That’s what drew me to engineering, and it’s what keeps me excited about exploration"

Yuri Kubo

NASA Astronaut Candidate

At the announcement ceremony, NASA Flight Operations Director Norm Knight said, “Every lesson learned aboard station has paved the way for where we’re headed next – to the Moon, this time to stay, and on to Mars.

We have a group of individuals who are not only exceptional, but who will be inspirational for the United States of America and for our planet.”

Together, the astronaut candidates reflect the spirit of Artemis — curiosity, courage, and continuous learning as humanity prepares for its next giant leap.

Emergency space mission accomplished

Updated: 2025-11-25 23:53

The unmanned Shenzhou XXII spacecraft arrived at the Tiangong space station on Tuesday afternoon, delivering crew provisions and mission payloads to the orbiting outpost.

This marked the first emergency-response flight mission in the history of the nation's manned space program.

A Long March 2F rocket, carrying the spacecraft, lifted off at 12:11 pm from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China, according to the China Manned Space Agency.

About 10 minutes after the launch, the spaceship separated from the rocket and entered its designated orbit. After flying for about three-and-a-half hours on an elaborately designed trajectory, the vessel docked with the front port of the Tianhe core module of the space station.

The Shenzhou XXII spacecraft was originally scheduled to transport the mission's crew to Tiangong in April 2026. However, China's space authorities had to rearrange plans following an unexpected situation.

The Shenzhou XX vessel, which was meant to bring that mission's astronauts back to Earth on Nov 5, was deemed unfit to fly after tiny cracks were discovered on the viewport window of its return capsule — damage suspected to be caused by the impact of space debris.

As the Shenzhou XX crew used the Shenzhou XXI vessel for their return journey on Nov 14, Tiangong was left without a flight-worthy crew ship for 11 days, a safety risk that the arrival of the Shenzhou XXII vessel removed.

Shenzhou XXII carries a full cargo load, including packaged premade meals, fresh fruits and vegetables, medicines, equipment needed for Tiangong's operations and tools to fix the damage on the Shenzhou XX vessel, the agency said. Shenzhou XX will continue to remain docked at the space station and serve as a platform for tests and experiments, it added.

The three Shenzhou XX astronauts, who returned safely to Earth nine days later than their planned landing, represented China's 15th manned spaceflight and the ninth group of residents aboard Tiangong.

The crew spent 204 days in orbit, setting a record for the longest in-orbit stay by Chinese astronauts.

Orbiting Earth at an altitude of about 400 kilometers, Tiangong is currently the only operational space station independently run by a single nation.

Blue Ring to Become First Fully Commercial Space Domain Awareness Mission in GEO with Optimum Technologies’ Sensor

Nov 24, 2025

Blue Origin announced today an agreement with Optimum Technologies (OpTech) to integrate its next-generation Caracal optical payload onboard the first mission of Blue Ring, the highly maneuverable multi-mission spacecraft for payload delivery, hosting, and infrastructure services.

Blue Ring's first mission is expected to launch in 2026 with initial injection into Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO) and additional services performed in Geostationary Orbit (GEO).

The Blue Ring vehicle will demonstrate its ability to simultaneously support the GEO tracking and custody mission as well as space object characterization, leveraging dynamic maneuverability to support high-resolution characterization.

OpTech's Caracal sensor is designed to provide actionable insights on resident space objects and orbital activity and includes onboard image storage, object detection algorithms, and passive thermal control.

The payload is designed to operate flexibly across dynamic orbits over a year-long mission profile. Caracal will fly with Scout Space’s Owl sensor, along with internally developed payloads, all demonstrating Blue Ring as the ideal platform for supporting future GEO space domain awareness missions.

"We’re looking forward to integrating Caracal onboard Blue Ring’s first mission and utilizing our vehicle to advance our customers’ critical missions,” said Paul Ebertz, senior vice president of Blue Origin’s In-Space Systems business unit.

“Blue Ring is paving the way for future commercial constellations to provide persistent object tracking and characterization in GEO, which is essential to maintaining American leadership in space.”

Blue Ring is a multi-mission, multi-destination vehicle providing full-service payload delivery, hosting, and end-to-end mission operations.

The vehicle’s architecture promotes mission-unique adaptation to meet a variety of customer and internal mission needs in GEO, Cislunar, Mars, and beyond.

Our spacecraft has industry-leading capabilities, including a nominal Delta-V of at least 3,000m/s (with a max of 4,000m/s) enabled by electric and chemical propulsion systems.

The spacecraft is capable of supporting up to 4,000kg of payload capacity across 13 ESPA ports, and has powerful onboard edge computing and processing capabilities enabling flexible mission design.

The effort represents a follow-on to OpTech’s contract awarded in 2024 to develop Caracal for the U.S. Space Force’s Tactically Responsive Space program, which is currently in hardware build with scheduled space vehicle integration and assembly in spring 2026. Caracal's telescope and imaging components for the VICTUS SURGO mission will achieve “flight qualified” status after assembly and testing.

“This is an important step forward,” said Tim Rumford, executive vice president at OpTech.

“By leveraging the already matured hardware and architecture, we’re able to rapidly field a low-cost, intelligent optical system on Blue Ring, extending mission value and new capabilities into GEO.”

Photographer captures eerie red halo hovering over the Italian Alps in rare 'elve' sighting

November 25, 2025

For a split second over northern Italy, the night sky erupted with a colossal glowing red ring. One photographer was in the right place at the right time.

Valter Binotto captured the eerie flash above the foothills of the Italian Alps from his home in the small town of Possagno on Nov. 17.

The strange red ring is an "elve," a rare and almost impossibly fast form of upper atmospheric lightning that most people will never see.

Elves are rapidly expanding disk-shaped flashes that can grow up to 300 miles (480 kilometers) across and last for less than a thousandth of a second, according to NOAA.

They occur high above thunderstorms when a powerful electromagnetic pulse shoots upward into the ionosphere, the same ionized region of Earth's upper atmosphere where auroras form.

Binotto had originally set out to try and photograph sprites, brief electrical discharges above thunderstorms that occur in the upper atmosphere, so he focused on a thunderstorm that had fewer clouds.

"I didn't capture any sprites, but fortunately, I managed to capture this Elve!" Binotto told Space.com in an email. He used a Sony A7S with a 20 mm f/1.8 lens at ISO 51,200. The photo is a frame taken from a video recorded at 25 fps.

"The ELVE was generated by a powerful negative lightning strike in a storm in Vernazza about 300 km south of me," Binotto told Spaceweather.com.

One bolt reached an extraordinary -303 kilo-ampères (the minus sign indicates the lightning's polarity, not that the current was less than zero), producing an intense electromagnetic pulse (EMP) that lit up the ionosphere.

For comparison, normal lightning typically carries just 10 to 30 kilo-ampères of current. This elve hovered about 100 miles (160 km) above Earth's surface and spanned roughly 200 miles (320 km) in diameter, according to Spaceweather.com.

This isn't the first time Binotto has photographed the eerie phenomenon. He captured an even more dramatic elve on March 23, 2023, also from his home in Possagno.

The image shows the structure in even more remarkable detail as the red halo expanded across the sky.

Kennedy Center Says FIFA is Paying $7.4 Million to Rent the Space

Nov 25, 2025

The Kennedy Center has finally revealed that FIFA, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, will pay $7.4 million to rent the space.

According to a statement to the Associated Press, Roma Daravi, the Kennedy Center’s vice president of public relation, said FIFA is donating $2.4 million to the Kennedy Center and is giving “sponsorship opportunities separate from their commitments for an additional $5 million.”

This is the first time that the figures are reported following an investigation that was opened by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, which showed that FIFA did not pay.

According to documents obtained by OperaWire, the Kennedy Center would lose $5,038,444, including a rescheduling fee for the National Symphony Orchestra of $1.9 million and $250,000 in other rescheduled events.

The facility is set to be used by FIFA from Nov. 24 through Dec. 12.

Executive Director of the Kennedy Center Richard Grenell responded to the investigation, denying the report, stating that FIFA was paying millions of dollars, and noted that they raised $117 million in fundraising.

In an interview with Fox News, Grenell suggested that ticket sales were up and that they were doing common-sense programming.

He suggested that President Trump saved the performing arts building and noted that the center should place a monument of Trump inside the center.

Grenell also noted that he was being extremely transparent and was happy to open up the books.

OperaWire has requested financial statements and will update this article as soon as we have obtained them.

Space Force awards secret contracts for Trump’s Golden Dome

Tue, 25 November 2025 at 6:48 am GMT-8

U.S. Space Force has awarded multiple small contracts to companies to help develop prototypes for a crucial but unproven technology that will be used in President Donald Trump’s “Golden Dome” defense system, according to a report.

The contracts, each under $9 million, are to develop space-based interceptors – a weapons system that would rely on a series of low-orbiting satellites that could track down an incoming intercontinental ballistic missile and intercept it before it strikes.

Space Force did not provide any details about which companies the contracts were awarded to. Because the contracts are for a relatively small amount, the agency is not required to disclose detailed information, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

In a statement, obtained by Bloomberg, Space Force said the contractors weren’t disclosed because they are “protected by enhanced security measures.”

“The selection process was robust and thorough,” Space Force said in the statement, adding that it is looking to “lead a fast-paced effort in partnership with industry to develop, demonstrate and deliver prototype interceptors.”

The Independent has asked Space Force for comment.

The announcement appears to be one of the first major steps from the Pentagon as it seeks to develop Trump’s “Golden Dome.”

In May, Trump announced his plans for a “Golden Dome,” claiming it would be a “cutting-edge” operation missile defense system to protect the U.S. from missile attacks.

The “Golden Dome” appeared to take a page from Israel’s “Iron Dome” – a similar air defense system that operates only from the ground, as well as former President Ronald Reagan’s proposed “Star Wars” program.

“We have certain areas of missiles and certain missile defense, but there's no system,” Trump told reporters in May. “We just have some very capable weapons that hopefully we never have to use, but we have some very capable weapons now,”

Trump estimated the “Golden Dome” would be fully operational by January 2029.

However, experts have cautioned about the military’s ability to implement space-based interceptors. Doing so would be extremely costly and experimental because it would require launching hundreds of weapons into space.

“Despite decades of support from influential policymakers, the resources required to deploy space-based interceptors would be better spent on other layers of US missile defense,” Thomas G. Roberts, an adjunct fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, wrote in a 2018 article for the Bulletin of the Atomic Sciences.

In addition to the awarded contracts, Space Force also plans to ask for proposals related to space-based interceptors' ability to conduct kinetic midcourse missile defense, according to a recently posted pre-solicitation.

Kinetic missile defense is the act of using energy from an object in motion to intercept another object. Midcourse interceptions utilize the strategy of intercepting long-range missiles in the middle of their course, making them easier to target.

However, the downside to a kinetic midcourse missile defense system is that it may be unable to distinguish a missile from other debris.

The upcoming request for proposals will be posted in early December.

Drones crash in Romania, Moldova as Russia bombards Ukraine

November 25, 2025 11:20 am

Drones crashed in both Romania and Moldova on Tuesday, with Bucharest deploying four fighter jets after a night of massive Russian air strikes in neighbouring Ukraine.

NATO member Romania and its neighbour, Moldova, have repeatedly seen violations of their airspaces, including drone fragments falling onto their soil, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Moldovan police said a village was evacuated after drone fragments fell on a house in the Cuhurestii de Jos region of the Floresti district, which adjoins Ukraine.

“The police technical explosives unit is on its way to the scene. People have been evacuated and the area cordoned off,” they said.

In total, Moldova detected six drones crossing its airspace without authorisation, the ministry of defence said in a post on Facebook.

The foreign ministry said it would summon the Russian ambassador on Wednesday over “the serious violation” of Moldova’s airspace.

In Romania, authorities found a crashed drone in Vaslui in the east of the country near the border with Moldova, defence minister Ionut Mosteanu told reporters.

“Either they lost control of it or it ran out of fuel since it had been flying for some time… It is a drone that, according to initial assessments, did not carry any explosive payload,” he added.

Romania’s defence ministry earlier said the first drone “crossed the national airspace” from Vylkove in Ukraine to the Chilia Veche area in Tulcea county in the country’s east.

“Two German Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft were scrambled from Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base to monitor the situation,” it said.

Two F16 planes were subsequently sent and a second drone incursion was then detected in the eastern Galati region, the defence ministry added.

US General Chris Donahue, on a visit to Romania, said NATO members were developing their capabilities to shoot down drones.

“We’re in the final stages… to make sure that this capability can be employed as quickly as possible,” he told reporters at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base near the Black Sea.

Last week, Romania already scrambled several fighter jets over a drone incursion, while Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador over it.

Netanyahu meets separately with Katz and Zamir in effort to defuse public feud

November 25, 2025 6:39 pm

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met separately on Tuesday with Defense Minister Israel Katz and with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir in an effort to de-escalate a public spat between the two top security officials.

Katz and Zamir traded barbs on Monday after the former ordered a re-investigation of the military’s external review of its earlier internal probes into the failures surrounding the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack.

Zamir also accused Katz of political interference and harming the military’s preparedness by freezing senior promotions — which the defense minister must approve — for 30 days.

While reports on Monday said Netanyahu had intended to summon both Zamir and Katz for a meeting, he eventually opted to first meet Katz alone, and then sit down alone with Zamir.

Tuesday’s reports said that a three-way meeting was unlikely to be held over the matter, with some speculating that Katz may have refused to attend such a meeting.

Some outlets reported that in the meetings, Netanyahu demanded that Katz and Zamir lower the public flames and get their spat off national news headlines.

Katz has been fighting a months-long, escalating campaign against Zamir over senior IDF appointments by selectively promoting officers and denying the appointments of others with whom he apparently does not see eye to eye.

Some military officials have warned that Katz is attempting to politicize the army by taking control of senior appointments.

In his statement on Monday, Zamir argued that the report prepared by Maj. Gen. (res.) Sami Turgeman and other former senior officers regarding October 7 “was defined from the outset for the chief of staff’s use, to examine the quality of investigations and integrative lessons-learned processes in the IDF, and not for political use.”

He defended the report and called Katz’s decision to re-investigate its findings “puzzling.” He said Turgeman’s team “heard more than hundreds of testimonies, conducted in-depth examinations, and carried out a professional process.”

“An alternative 30-day review by the defense establishment comptroller, with no disrespect to him, is irrelevant,” Zamir said, after Katz announced that Defense Establishment Comptroller Brig. Gen. (res.) Yair Volansky would submit a review of Turgeman’s report within a month.

“The IDF is the only body in the country that thoroughly investigated its own failures and took responsibility for them,” Zamir continued, in an apparent jab at political leaders, including Netanyahu, who have largely refused to take responsibility for the failures surrounding October 7.

“If any further review is required to complete the picture, it must take the form of an external, objective and independent committee” that will look into topics including “the interface between the military and political echelons,” he said.

The chief of staff said Katz’s decision to freeze promotions in the IDF for 30 days “harms the IDF’s capability and its readiness process for upcoming challenges.”

Katz had announced his decision a day after Zamir dismissed several senior officers and censured others for their roles in the October 7 failures, based on Turgeman’s probe, which found the IDF’s own investigations into its failures inadequate or unacceptable.

“I appreciate the chief of staff, who knows well that he is subordinate to the prime minister, the defense minister and the government of Israel,” Katz said in a statement on Monday responding to Zamir. “I do not intend to argue through the media.”

“The defense establishment comptroller will submit his conclusions within 30 days, and only afterward will I formulate my decisions on the appointments, as required by my role and authority,” Katz added.

Since he became defense minister in late 2024, Katz has canceled the appointments of several senior officers chosen by Zamir and his predecessor, Herzi Halevi. Some of the promotion hold-ups were met with puzzlement in the military.

Katz also delayed the promotion of dozens of colonels and brigadier generals for weeks, claiming that they had been made by Zamir without consultation.

He also has yet to rule on the appointments for three major general roles, with the officers currently staffing them nearing the end of their tenures.

Typically, senior appointments, aside from those of top generals, are brought to the defense minister for approval following internal IDF meetings on the matter. Katz has falsely claimed that, by law, he is responsible for senior promotions in the military.

Katz publicly slammed the military chief in August for announcing a list of senior appointments, claiming Zamir had done so without consulting him.

At the end of the month, the two announced that they had reached an understanding on the army’s appointment process, though the feud resurfaced this week.

Japan scrambles jets to intercept Chinese spy drone

Nov 25, 2025

Japan scrambled fighter jets on Monday after a Chinese high-altitude surveillance drone passed between Yonaguni Island and Taiwan, prompting a response from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s (JASDF) Southwest Air Defense sector.

According to the official statement from the Joint Staff Office of Japan’s Ministry of Defense, “On Monday, November 24, a presumed Chinese unmanned aircraft was confirmed to have passed between Yonaguni Island and Taiwan, and in response, fighter aircraft from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s Southwest Air Defense Force were scrambled to respond.”

The map released with the announcement shows the flight path of the aircraft traveling northward through the channel between Taiwan and Japan’s westernmost island, Yonaguni.

The aircraft is labeled as a “presumed Chinese unmanned aircraft,” and the plotted trajectory depicts its movement toward the Philippine Sea.

The JASDF fighters were deployed from units assigned to Japan’s Southwest Air Defense, which is responsible for monitoring and responding to airspace activity around Okinawa, the Sakishima Islands, and the first island chain stretching from Kyushu to Taiwan.

The ministry did not specify the type of fighters scrambled or provide additional operational details.

Tensions between Japan and China have increased in recent months.

Tokyo continues to report frequent interceptions involving Chinese military aircraft operating near its airspace, including drones, bombers and patrol aircraft.

The flight observed on November 24 follows a pattern of increased unmanned aircraft activity near Japan.

The Joint Staff Office notes that the drone was identified as “presumed Chinese,” but did not release additional information on its model, altitude or mission.

Japan routinely releases flight-path information following incursions by foreign aircraft to document activity and maintain transparency regarding its air-defense posture.

Cambodia Denounces Thai Media Claims of Military Drone Base Along Border

November 25, 2025

Cambodian military officials have strongly rejected recent reports from Thai journalists and media outlets citing sources from Thailand’s 2nd Army Area, which alleged that Cambodian forces had used casino buildings along the border as bases for drone operations targeting Thai positions.

A senior Cambodian military official clarified that the Thai media coverage was entirely misleading and deliberately intended to create confusion while shifting blame onto Cambodia without accountability. The official stressed that it is Thai forces who regularly deploy drones along the border.

“Today, Thai media even boasted about multiple drone strikes, clearly demonstrating an intent to threaten the peace and safety of local Cambodian communities,” the official added.

RAF flight diversion followed seven drone sightings, confirms MoD

25th November 2025, 17:18

The MoD has confirmed the decision to divert an RAF Flight to Faro was taken following seven sightings of drones while the plane was holding in Gibraltar.

On Saturday GBC reported the sighting of a drone with the MOD confirming there had been another six sightings by the runway.

Drones are an increasing issue around airspace. Just last month, sightings prevented two commercial flights from taking off at Gibraltar Airport.

However, this appears to be the first time the issue has resulted in the diversion of an RAF aircraft.

GBC has asked the MoD about the action taken and anti-drone measures at the runway.

IonQ Invests in Heven AeroTech to Bring Quantum Tech to Hydrogen Drone Platforms

November 25, 2025, 11:10 am

IonQ has announced a partnership with Heven AeroTech that includes an investment aimed at adapting the IonQ quantum technologies for use on Heven’s long-range, hydrogen-powered drones built for defense and national security missions.

What IonQ Quantum Capabilities Will Be Integrated Into Heven’s Drones?

Under the agreement, Heven will work to integrate a set of IonQ capabilities — including quantum networking, quantum sensing, quantum computing and quantum security — into its autonomous aerial systems, according to a press release published Monday.

The collaboration is intended to support future missions, particularly in environments where GPS access is denied.

Areas of joint development may include secure airborne links built using quantum networking, quantum-assisted flight routing and data fusion, and quantum-based sensing for alternative navigation and timing.

“IonQ’s quantum technologies are a natural fit for our hydrogen-powered aerial platforms,” said Heven AeroTech CEO Ben Levinson.

“This partnership enables us to push the boundaries of endurance, autonomy, and security in ways previously thought impossible.

Together, we’re building a new generation of uncrewed systems that can thrive in contested environments and deliver critical capabilities for the missions that matter most.”

In line with the partnership, Jordan Shapiro, president and general manager of IonQ’s quantum networking, sensing and security business, will join the board of directors at Heven AeroTech.

Heven, founded in 2019 and based in Virginia, offers drones built for extended endurance operations. Its Z1 drone is designed for multi-hour, long-distance missions using hydrogen fuel cell propulsion.

Catholic filmmaker investigates UFO mysteries at the Vatican

November 25, 2025

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — A widely discussed new documentary about UFOs, “Age of Disclosure,” includes an allegation from a former CIA official that the Vatican holds evidence of the existence of non-human intelligence — and he does not mean angels.

Such claims have prompted Catholic filmmaker Sam Sorich to make his own documentary, which he says will investigate the allegation and articulate a Catholic response to the controversy now drawing the attention of U.S. lawmakers.

“It’s a wild claim,” Sorich said.

“A film like ‘Age of Disclosure’ is going to have a massive cultural impact, and the Catholic response should happen at every level,” Sorich said.

“I’m going to lay out the claims, the facts,” he said, explaining that the allegation would serve as his hook for exploring — along with credentialed theologians and church experts — what it would mean for believers if it turned out to be true.

As detailed by former intelligence official David Grusch in 2023 congressional testimony, the allegation holds that Pope Pius XII knew of a UFO that crashed near Milan in 1933.

Grusch said the pope later backchanneled information about the craft to the U.S. government, which took possession of it after World War II, according to those who believe the story.

Catholic News Service followed Sorich’s team Oct. 31 as they filmed a scene in which Jesse Michels, a popular podcaster-researcher, was given a guided tour of a fascist-era military bunker in San Oreste, Italy, where the technology behind the alleged craft was said to have been studied.

“There was a well-known connection between this place and the Vatican,” Gregory Paolucci, founder of the Bunker Soratte museum and mayor of San Oreste, told the filmmakers in a segment filmed in front of a large, early-1940s photograph of Pope Pius XII that is part of the bunker’s display.

Paolucci said he was also given a World War II–era Swiss Guard jacket by a member of the Italian intelligence services when he began his work to establish the museum.

“We know the connection is real” between the bunker and the Vatican, Paolucci said, but he has never been able to confirm whether any of those connections relate to the alleged UFO and Pope Pius supposedly passing information about it to the U.S. government.

Sorich approached the Vatican Observatory but was denied interviews.

In a Nov. 25 email to Catholic News Service, former Vatican Observatory director Jesuit Brother Guy Consolmagno said the observatory’s policy during his tenure — and still, as far as he knows — was to avoid the topic of UFOs in the media.

“The subject of UFOs — or whatever they are calling them now — is a very touchy one. Most everything done about them is tainted badly by the charlatans who have poisoned the topic, and having a few reliable voices isn’t enough to stem the tide,” Brother Consolmagno said.

“Sadly, having been burned in the past, we’ve made the decision at the Vatican Observatory to simply avoid talking about the topic at all,” he said. “We simply can’t afford to be associated with it.”

Sorich also contacted several professors at pontifical universities in Rome for interviews but was told the UFO topic was not serious. One told him that “to talk with an astrophysicist about UFOs is like talking to a zoologist about unicorns and dragons,” he said.

Another lead Sorich pursued was a series of meetings — previously reported in the Italian press with headlines such as “Holy See Opens to UFOs” and “The Extraterrestrial Lands in the Vatican” — in which priests and theologians reportedly discussed UFOs at the Church of St. Anne inside the Vatican walls.

Sorich learned that the UFO-themed meetings were simply part of a broader series of “Cultural Wednesdays” at the parish and had been organized by the late Pier Vincenzo Giudici, former deputy director of Vatican Radio, and his wife, Nadia, both citizens of Vatican City State.

Nadia Giudici told CNS that the range of subjects covered over the program’s 33 years — from Egyptology and Christian archaeology to Russian poetry and Irish music — far outweighed the occasional UFO talk. She plans to schedule another UFO-themed talk next year.

For Sorich, the Italy shoot yielded intriguing hints but no evidence that could verify the alleged Vatican backchannel. He is weighing a follow-up trip to continue investigating.

Sorich’s production company, Glass Darkly Films, was born out of his long experience in Catholic media, having worked in video production for both Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation in Toronto and for Spirit Juice Studios in Chicago.

He has worked for years to create projects that bring Catholic creatives together, such as 8BEATS, a nationwide collaborative film anthology project on the Beatitudes.

His most recent film, on the life and thought of René Girard, the French Catholic philosopher, was purchased by Peter Thiel and has registered more than 130,000 views on YouTube, Sorich said.

One of the investors in Sorich’s film on UFOs and Catholicism, expected to be released in late 2026, is ChurchPOP founder and cryptocurrency executive Brantly Millegan.

“It’s imperative for the church to draw from her tradition to respond; this is why we have a living Magisterium,” Millegan told CNS.

“Catholics should know that the church’s tradition has more to say on the subject than they may suspect,” Millegan said. “Sam is doing the church a great service by investigating this.”

Sorich told CNS that, in addition to theologians and experts, he has interviewed Catholics who have reported UFO sightings or other paranormal events that do not fit neatly into classic angel-or-demon categories. Among them, he said, are an Italian priest, seminary professors and well-known figures in Catholic media.

In one segment filmed for the documentary in early November, former military chaplain Father Matthew Gray said he was told by highly credentialed people he trusted in the military that the U.S. government has recovered crashed UFOs.

Sorich’s film marks the first time many of them have spoken publicly about their experiences.

“There’s a stigma around the discussion of UFOs,” Sorich said of people’s reluctance to appear on camera. “(People think) experiencers must be crazy and it’s not worthy of scientific investigation because it’s obviously false.”

Sorich, who teaches filmmaking at John Paul the Great Catholic University in San Diego, said he sees his work on UFOs as part of the listening and dialogue with contemporary culture that the church is calling for.

“UFO people are on the margins,” Sorich said. “They’ve been told that they’re crazy.” “That has nothing to do with how you’re supposed to treat them, and love them and give them respect,” he said.

US Military Reportedly 'Used Nuclear Blasts on UFOs' in 1950s to Capture High-Tech Weapons

25 November 2025, 4:56 PM GMT

A filmmaker has claimed that the US military secretly detonated nuclear weapons in the 1950s with the intention of disabling unidentified flying objects and using 'alien' technology.

Director Dan Farah, who interviewed high-level government and military insiders over four years, says these nuclear tests were not only for traditional weapons development but also to bring down alien craft.

No physical evidence has been presented, but it stirred up conversation on UFO secrecy and competition for advanced technology for military weapons.

Nuclear Tests Were Allegedly Used as 'Traps'

According to the Daily Mail, Farah shared the explosive claims during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience.

The Director said anonymous sources involved in alleged retrieval programmes told him nuclear detonations were used as a strategic weapon against UFOs.

Farah explained that he was told atomic blasts could create disturbances that would destabilise UFO propulsion systems. He described this as a 'ripple effect', which he said military sources believed made alien craft vulnerable.

He told Rogan that insiders viewed the tactic as a way to 'shoot fish in a barrel', suggesting that high-altitude nuclear tests were intentionally positioned to bring alien craft down.

He stressed that this approach carried risks, warning that one misread explosion could have triggered unintended conflict.

Farah said his sources believed the US risked not only being mistaken for initiating nuclear war but also provoking technologically superior beings.

The Documentary Behind the Claims

Farah's new documentary outlines what he describes as an 80‑year global cover‑up involving multiple governments.

The film features interviews with former officials, including members of Congress, who speak about alleged retrieval programmes, though none offer physical proof.

According to Farah, nuclear detonations underwater and in the upper atmosphere were linked to increased UFO sightings.

He argues that these tests, which occurred as part of Cold War weapons development, had a secondary purpose, triggering crashes that would allow militaries to seize alien materials.

The US Department of Energy previously reported that 1,054 nuclear tests took place between 1945 and 1992. Several occurred in the Nevada desert, and others over the Pacific Ocean.

Farah claims these locations were chosen because they were known hotspots for UFO activity.

Government Responds to Nuking Alien Claims

US government agencies maintain there is no confirmed evidence of extraterrestrial craft.

The Pentagon has repeatedly stated that investigations into unidentified aerial phenomena have 'no verifiable proof' of recovered alien technology.

Farah acknowledges that secrecy makes documentation difficult to obtain. However, he insists that the consistency of accounts from former intelligence officials suggests a coordinated effort to keep such programmes hidden.

He points to comments made by elected officials such as Congressman Tim Burchett, who has publicly discussed alleged underwater UFO bases.

Burchett has not provided evidence, but Farah argues that the willingness of lawmakers to raise such ideas signals growing concern within government circles.

Farah claims it's not just the US in a race to get alien tech. Russia and China are also locked in what some officials called a new Cold War. But this time, it's focused on reverse-engineering alien technology rather than building nuclear arsenals.

According to the filmmaker, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and current political leaders have expressed fears that foreign powers could already be ahead.

Farah says Senator Marco Rubio spoke with 'visible anxiety' about China potentially surpassing the US in exploiting recovered materials.

Farah says members of the Trump administration have urged current Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard to investigate the allegations raised in his documentary.

He believes the pressure may lead to further disclosures, though officials have not commented.

UFO Spotted Over Ranikot Fort? ZEMTV’s Omer Ahmed Shares Shocking Footage

25 November, 2025 12:32

Sindh, Pakistan – A routine paramotor flight over the historic and enigmatic Ranikot Fort in Sindh took an unexpected turn when Omer Ahmed, a content creator behind the YouTube channel ZEMTV, claims to have spotted a mysterious unidentified flying object (UFO).

In a video uploaded to his channel, Ahmed describes the incident: “On November 1st, 2025, during a paramotor flight over Ranikot Fort, I encountered something I cannot explain.

I think this is a UFO spotted in this area. What started as a normal training flight turned into a mystery when a high-speed object zoomed past me—not once, but twice.”

The video shows Ahmed maneuvering his paramotor as an unidentified object rapidly passes through the frame.

He emphasizes that the object was neither a bird nor a drone. “Ye parinda nahi tha, aur na he koi drone! 😱” he states in the video.

Ahmed claims to have analyzed the footage frame by frame, revealing movements and speeds that, according to him, challenge the known laws of physics. The sighting, he notes, raises questions about the nature of the object and its origin.

Ranikot Fort, often referred to as the “Great Wall of Sindh,” is known for its vast expanse and mysterious surroundings.

The location, combined with Ahmed’s account, has sparked intrigue among local communities and online UFO enthusiasts.

While skeptics suggest that the phenomenon could be attributed to optical illusions, reflections, or camera artifacts, Ahmed stands by his claim, encouraging viewers to scrutinize the footage themselves.

The video has already garnered significant attention online, with thousands of views and discussions surrounding the possibility of extraterrestrial activity in the region.

Experts in aerodynamics and aviation have yet to comment, but the video has ignited a fresh wave of curiosity about unexplained aerial phenomena in Pakistan.

Omer Ahmed’s report serves as a reminder of how ordinary activities, like paramotor flights, can unexpectedly intersect with the unknown, leaving witnesses and viewers alike questioning what lies beyond our current understanding of the skies.

Illinois Driver Spots UFO Frightening Wildlife

November 24, 2025

An Illinois man was left scratching his head when he spotted a UFO hovering over a forest and seemingly causing frightened animals to flee the area.

The curious case, detailed to the National UFO Reporting Center, occurred earlier this month as the bewildered witness was en route to pick up his daughter from work.

Along the way, he "noticed a large number of deer and raccoons on the road running away" from a nearby forested area.

To the driver's astonishment, as he continued along the road, he gazed over to see what could have caused the commotion and observed "a golden orb approximately 500 feet above the woods moving in a rapid almost yoyo-like circular motion."

Needing to get his daughter, the witness continued on his journey and, upon passing through the same area again on the way home, noted that the UFO was gone and "the animals were returning to the woods."

Looking back on the "utterly bizarre" sighting, the man noted that the object did not cast any illumination downward and stayed silently in one position in the sky while moving "in a circular loitering position like a holding pattern."

What do you think the motorist saw that fateful night? Was it an otherworldly visitor, a mischievous drone, or something else entirely? Weigh in with your thoughts at the C2C Facebook page.

Inside the Pentagon’s Review of Christopher Mellon’s Alleged UFO Crash Retrieval Text

November 24, 2025

A newly released set of Defense Department documents reveals how the Pentagon handled former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Christopher Mellon’s request to publish a message he said referenced an alleged effort to exploit “recovered off-world technology.”

The records also reveal that Mellon’s first attempt to submit the material was returned to him after a DOPSR employee deemed his three-page mailed package a “security threat,” a detail he did not disclose in his public article.

The documents, sent to The Black Vault under FOIA case 24-F-1134, include Mellon’s original submission to the Defense Office of Prepublication and Security Review (DOPSR), internal emails, coordination records, and the March 1, 2024 approval that cleared him to release the message.

The 17 pages released by the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) document DOPSR’s handling of Mellon’s submission from January through March 2024.

The records show repeated delays, escalating internal pressure, and direct involvement from the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), which was tasked with coordinating on the review.

Mellon’s Submission: A Message Alleging Access to a Recovery Program

The FOIA file begins with Mellon’s January 19, 2024, email to DOPSR, in which he submitted the text message screenshot he later published publicly.

Mellon wrote that he was seeking confirmation “to confirm it is not classified,” and noted that a submission mailed earlier had been returned “because some employee deemed it a security threat.”

In that letter, Mellon explained that the message was sent to him “some years ago” by a former DoD employee alleging they were “being read into a program involving the exploitation of recovered off-world technology”.

Mellon also indicated he had “redacted the name of the alleged ‘gatekeeper’” and emphasized that he respected the confidentiality of the source.

He informed DOPSR that his intent in releasing the material was to show “why I have taken such extraordinary claims seriously,” but also adding that he did “not have a position on the validity of the allegations” as he hears “credible claims, but also credible denials.”

Internal Confusion, Delays, and Pressure

The released emails show that by late February 2024, DOPSR was struggling to obtain required reviews from AARO and the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (I&S).

On February 20, a DOPSR official wrote: “These cases need to be completed ASAP. Not only is DOPSR under a lot of pressure from [ redacted ], but [ redacted ] has complained publicly about how long reviews are taking and DOPSR is now receiving emails from ‘concerned citizens’ all around the world (including Norway) about the matter.”

It goes on to state that, “Further delay is simply not ok.”

The delays also appear to reflect procedural issues.

One email states that DOPSR staff were “attempting to assign down for USI review” because the system “isn’t currently cooperating,” while other messages note that AARO responses were “not there” from CATMS, the DoD’s coordination tracking system.

AARO and I&S Ultimately Approve the Release

Despite the coordination issues, both reviewing authorities ultimately issued “NO OBJECTION” determinations.

The released SD Form 403 shows the official worksheet signed on March 1, 2024. AARO’s confirmation, according to a memorandum for the record included in the FOIA release, states that “AARO response coordinated with his leadership and is for AARO.” I&S also returned a “NO OBJECTION as Received” notice on February 9, 2024.

The approval stamp, dated March 1, 2024, appears on the version later published by Mellon in April 2024, when Mellon published the message and an accompanying explanation.

In it, he emphasized that he received the text years earlier from “a senior government official” who he said “had plausible access and was high-ranking,” and whose claim of access to a crash retrieval program was why he believed at least some allegations merited attention.

He also acknowledged that the sender later told him they were denied access to the alleged program and had not seen any recovered craft.

The newly released FOIA documents do not validate or contradict Mellon’s claims or the claims within the Signal messages.

Instead, they reveal the internal pathway through which the Pentagon processed and ultimately approved his request to release the material.

While the content of the message Mellon sought to publish had already been public since April 2024, this FOIA release marks the first time the government’s internal handling of his submission has been documented.

🚨 JIM CAVIEZEL JUST DROPPED A NUCLEAR TRUTH BOMB

Actor Jim Caviezel has again said the quiet part out loud — and this time he laid out the darkest allegations yet:

According to Caviezel:

• Adrenochrome is a real chemical compound — listed under NIH

• He claims it is “10x more potent than heroin” and used by elites

• He says the demand is so organised that it cannot exist without intelligence-agency involvement

• He alleges there are multiple Epstein-style islands, not just one

• And that some networks tied to trafficking, organ harvesting, and cartel violence are far bigger than the public has been told

He didn’t stop there.

Caviezel pointed to:

Mexico’s 110,000 missing people

Cartels with military-grade weapons

Bio-labs receiving high-value “materials”

Intelligence agencies looking the other way

High-level protection for traffickers who should be in prison

And then the bombshell:

“Epstein Island isn’t the only sex island out there.”

For years the media laughed this stuff off as conspiracy.

Then Epstein was arrested.

Then the flight logs came out.

Then the VIPs scrambled for cover.

Caviezel is calling out what many already suspect:

There is a global network.

It crosses borders.

It overlaps with intelligence, cartels, NGOs, and political elites.

And the cover-up is deeper than anyone imagined.

This is not about Hollywood.

This is not about one island.

This is about an entire system rotten to the core — and terrified of being exposed.

The truth ALWAYS leaks.

And the dam is cracking.

Brace yourself.

Donald Trump's AI Mission Will Force UFO Disclosure Soon

November 25, 2025

Military whistleblowers and a new AI project from President Donald Trump are pointing to the same conclusion — we might finally learn the truth about UFOs and provide disclosure.

On the Megyn Kelly Show, journalist Walter Kirn shared something striking. He said David Grusch told him that aliens do not care about us the way we care about them.

Kirn also revealed that Trump knows far more about UFOs than he has let on, and might be ready to tell the public what he knows.

The timing of these disclosures coincides with Trump’s November 24th executive order establishing the Genesis Mission, a Department of Energy initiative that Energy Secretary Chris Wright compared to the Manhattan Project during a Fox News interview.

The program will deploy artificial intelligence and the nation’s supercomputers to tackle 20 major scientific challenges, with advocacy groups already pushing for UAP research to be included among them.

This push gains significance given that, according to intelligence sources, UFO secrecy has historically been maintained through Department of Energy classifications rather than Pentagon channels, making the DOE’s involvement particularly noteworthy.

Grusch, who testified before Congress about recovered non-human craft, recently told Fox News anchor Bret Baier that members of the current administration are “very well aware of this reality.”

He specifically noted that Trump has assembled what he calls an “A-team cabinet” that understands these sensitive transparency issues, including Vice President J.D. Vance and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, both of whom have publicly expressed interest in the subject.

When asked directly about UFOs on the Joe Rogan podcast, Trump revealed he had been told “a lot” about the subject, contradicting his previous skepticism.

The Genesis Mission’s infrastructure appears ideally suited for analyzing exotic materials that whistleblowers claim require computational power beyond current public capabilities.

The initiative will provide AI agents capable of exploring design spaces, evaluating experimental outcomes, and automating workflows — precisely the tools needed for reverse-engineering advanced technology.

Additionally, according to reporting from Italian newsletter L’Espresso, a classified program called Project Preserve Destiny may already be transferring special access programs from Pentagon control directly to the White House, involving six levels of secrecy with some sections so compartmentalized that even the president cannot access them.

Secretary Wright acknowledged that future AI systems will require “five Hoover Dams worth of electricity” to power single facilities, a challenge that recovered craft technology could potentially solve if these vehicles possess the revolutionary power sources necessary for traversing vast distances.

As Kirn observed, after decades of pop culture preparation, the public may be more ready for disclosure than officials assume, with nearly two-thirds of Americans already believing in extraterrestrial life according to Pew Research Center data.

Whether through official announcements or scientific breakthroughs attributed to AI, the convergence of these initiatives suggests the next few years could fundamentally alter our understanding of humanity’s place in the universe.
