Kubrick was a clever dick, and loved to bury a multitude of motifs in things that can have different meanings. He's not just talking about the book's subjective meaning of 'shining', he's talking about brilliance, which is to say, how people can pick up on clues and esoteric knowledge.
Shining/Sunrise/Sunrays are featured throughout the film, and it has deep significance to Horus/Lucifer worship.
