The Foundation:
The premise of the series is that the mathematician Hari Seldon spent his life developing a branch of mathematics known as psychohistory, a concept of mathematical sociology. Interpretation: Q team plugs current data into the system, which then shows where the plan needs a slight nudge. They then make a post to influence the wave in the correct direction to restore chronology. This is why everything hasn't been exactly perfect to the minute.
