Epstein’s private calendar reveals planned meetings with Obama admin official, CIA chief

Jeffrey Epstein’s newly-revealed private calendar showed scheduled meetings with the current CIA director, a college president and attorney who served in the Obama administration, according to a report published Sunday.

New documents, which belonged to the rich convicted pedophile and were obtained by The Wall Street Journal, showed planned meetings with a slew of prominent individuals, including now-CIA Director William Burns, Bard College president Leon Botstein, Obama White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler and professor Noam Chomsky.

All the scheduled meetings were slated to take place after Epstein was jailed in 2008 on charges of solicitation, including soliciting a minor. WSJ could not prove each scheduled meeting actually took place, and the documents did not reveal the purpose for the meetings.

A spokesperson for Burns, who has taken the CIA’s helm since 2021 under the Biden administration, said the nation’s spy chief met with Epstein a decade ago when he was trying to leave the government.

"Director Burns recalls being introduced by a mutual friend in Washington, DC, and then met with him once briefly in New York City, about a decade ago as the Director was preparing to leave government service," CIA spokeswoman Tammy Kupperman Thorp said in comment provided to Fox News Digital.

"The Director did not know anything about him, other than he was introduced as an expert in the financial services sector and offered general advice on transition to the private sector. The Director does not recall any further contact, including receiving a ride to the airport. They had no relationship."

Ruemmler had dozens of meetings with Epstein following her work for the Obama administration and before taking the reins as Goldman Sachs' top lawyer in 2020, according to WSJ. The documents show Epstein was planning on Ruemmler joining him for a trip to Paris in 2015 and another visit to his private island in the Caribbean in 2017.

A Goldman Sachs rep told the outlet that Ruemmler had a working relationship with Epstein when she was employed at law firm Latham & Watkins LLP, but did not travel with Epstein. The spokesperson said Epstein introduced Ruemmler to potential legal clients, such as Bill Gates.

"Many of Ms. Ruemmler's contacts related to a potential representation involving the Gates Foundation, a representation of the Edmond de Rothschild bank, and other business opportunities," a Goldman Sachs spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Sunday.

"I regret ever knowing Jeffrey Epstein," Ruemmler said, according to WSJ.

The Journal reported that the majority of people they spoke to said they met with Epstein for donations or to make powerful connections. Botstein, who has served as Bard College’s president since 1975, said he met with Epstein to try to get him to donate to the liberal arts school.

"I was an unsuccessful fundraiser and actually the object of a little bit of sadism on his part in dangling philanthropic support," Botstein told the outlet. "That was my relationship with him."

Other prominent figures on the documents included:

Ariane de Rothschild, chief executive of the Swiss private bank Edmond de Rothschild Group; Joshua Cooper Ramo, who at the time served on the boards of Starbucks Corp. and FedEx Corp; former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak; Harvard University professor Martin Nowak; and anthropologist Helen Fisher.

A federal judge’s decision to block President Donald Trump’s plan to deploy the Oregon National Guard in Portland has set up a high-profile clash over executive power, federalism, and limits on the use of military force in domestic affairs.

The ruling from U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut,who was appointed by President Trump in 2019, weighed not only on the legality of sending federalized troops into a U.S. city amid protests, but also on the broader constitutional relationship between the White House, Congress, and the states.

Since the order, multiple MAGA members have come out against the decision, with White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller calling the move a "legal insurrection" in a post on X.

"The President is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, not an Oregon judge. Portland and Oregon law enforcement, at the direction of local leaders, have refused to aid ICE officers facing relentless terrorist assault and threats to life," Miller continued in his post.

Immergut’s order followed a growing legal and political battle over Trump's use of federal and military responses in Democratic-led cities, highlighting recurring tensions between local autonomy and assertions of presidential authority to restore what Trump described as “law and order.”

The Justice Department, representing the administration, appealed the ruling to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals late Saturday.

“President Trump exercised his lawful authority to protect federal assets and personnel in Portland following violent riots and attacks on law enforcement — we expect to be vindicated by a higher court,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said, according to Reuters.

Questions about the appropriate balance of civil and military power, as well as the president’s ability to override state officials, remain central as both sides head toward further legal proceedings.

The case follows recent court rulings restricting similar deployments to Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., raising the stakes for how future administrations may use federal force domestically.

US First Lady Melania Trump “likes” Russian President Vladimir Putin, but is disappointed over the continuation of the Ukraine conflict, President Donald Trump has said. Moscow is willing to negotiate but has maintained that any talks must address the root causes of the conflict.

Since assuming office this year, Trump has said he respects both Russia and Putin and wants to find a diplomatic solution to the conflict. In recent weeks, however, he has increasingly expressed frustration over a lack of progress in the peace process and has threatened Moscow with more sanctions.

In Tuesday’s episode of Pod Force One, the US president said: “We know Putin and she [Melania] likes him,” adding that he “got along with him very well.”

While Trump has insisted that his wife simply wants to see an end to the bloodshed, the outlet pointed to her influence as a possible factor behind his shifting stance on the Ukraine conflict.

Melania, 55, was born in Soviet-era Slovenia – now a staunch supporter of Kiev, the outlet pointed out, adding that her deep interest in the conflict reflects that background.

US lawmaker Don Bacon echoed that view in an interview this month, saying the first lady could deserve credit for Trump’s apparent turn against Russia.

“His position on Ukraine has clearly evolved,” Bacon said, noting that he wouldn’t be surprised if Melania played a “quiet but important part in that.”
