🚨 IMPORTANT SIV UPDATE — PLEASE READ & SHARE 🚨
We’re coming up on a hard deadline that will impact thousands of Afghan allies still trying to reach safety.
The Afghan SIV program will stop accepting new applications on December 31, 2025, unless Congress steps in and extends the deadline. As of today, fewer than 7,800 SIVs remain. Once they’re gone, they’re gone—unless lawmakers authorize more.
As of November 12, 2025, Congress hasn’t passed anything to extend the deadline or increase visa numbers. That could change in 2026, but nothing is guaranteed.
Here’s what this means right now:
-
If you’re preparing a new COM application: You must submit it by December 31, 2025.
-
If you’re preparing a COM appeal: You still get your full 120 days from the date of your denial, even if that goes into 2026.
-
If your pending appeal is denied after December 31: You won’t be able to file a new application.
-
If you already have a pending COM application: It will keep moving after the deadline.
-
If you have COM approval: You must continue your case at a U.S. Embassy outside Afghanistan. SIVs will be issued until the remaining visas run out.
This is a critical moment. If you know someone affected, please share this with them. Lives and futures depend on getting accurate information fast.
