Malcolm Tanner, a self-described entrepreneur with a sizable social media following, is recruiting his followers to move to oil-rich Loving County in West Texas.
“If you want to get a home, and stop paying rent, your mortgage, or even the taxes on it, we’re going to build y’all a home. Right here. For free,” he said in a mid-July Facebook reel viewed nearly 2 million times.
A settlement of RVs and tents has popped up outside of Mentone. New residents are moving in, registering to vote and planning to sweep local elections in 2026.
