Zelensky's Closest, Most-Powerful Aide Resigns After Office Raided By Anti-Corruption Agents

Zelensky's chief of staff, Andrii Yermak, has submitted his resignation - the highest level official to fall amid the massive graft probe which has brought rare international embarrassment on the Zelensky government.

As a reminder, Andrew Korybko recently opined that Yermak's removal could prompt some progress in peace talks:

He’s Zelensky’s powerbroker so his downfall could undo the already shaky alliance between the armed forces, the oligarchs, the secret police, and parliament that keeps Zelensky in power, thus pressuring him into peace, especially if his warmongering grey cardinal is no longer pushing him to keep fighting.

Earlier The Associated Post reported Friday: "Anti-corruption units have raided the home, and reportedly also the office, of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, Andrii Yermak." Zelensky now says he will hold consultations on replacing Yermak.

This is a huge and very high level development in the country's ongoing graft investigation scandal as Yermak is essentially the closest one can get to Zelensky, given the top presidential aide was made by Zelensky chief negotiator in talks with the United States. Some speculate this appointment was made precisely to protect Yermak from criminal charges.

Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies, NABU and SAP, confirmed they had officially sanctioned searches at the office of President Zelensky's top aide, again emphasizing the probe has extended all the way to the top. Could this be the beginning of the end for Zelensky himself?

The $100 million energy sector corruption scandal has already embroiled and resulted in the dismissals of several top ministers and officials.

Revealed: The CIA's Pentecostal Psyop In Latin America To Crush Liberation Theology

As Catholics in Latin America began resisting US colonialism, the Central Intelligence Agency infiltrated Pentecostal missionary work to subvert the movement.

The surge of Protestant missionaries and charismatic revivals across South America didn’t happen in a vacuum; it unfolded within a Cold War landscape where the United States actively sought religious movements that could blunt the rise of Catholic liberation theology.

If you look closely at the historical record, declassified CIA cables, State Department memos, USAID contracts, congressional hearings, and the work of historians like Greg Grandin, Stephen Rabe, David Stoll, Martin-Baró, and Linda Rabben, the answer is no longer a dramatic conspiracy theory. It’s simply what happened. Not in the sense that every missionary was a covert agent. But because U.S. intelligence and diplomatic officials, from the 1950s through the 1980s, intentionally used Protestant missions as one tool in a broad counterinsurgency strategy designed to weaken liberation theology and preserve U.S.-aligned capitalist order in Latin America.

Before I expound I should let the reader know that I am no stranger to the world of Christian missions. I grew up the son of a Pentecostal pastor and went to school to get two degrees in church history. During college and seminary, I led and participated in mission trips to Fiji, the Philippines, and El Salvador. I worked at Oral Roberts University coordinating student missions trips across Latin America, Africa, and Asia. My intentions were completely sincere. Everyone around me believed we were spreading the gospel. What I didn’t understand at the time, what most missionaries never understand, is that the infrastructure we were plugged into had been shaped for decades by the Cold War, and that evangelical missions, especially the charismatic and Pentecostal branches, had been intentionally cultivated and supported by U.S. political and intelligence structures as an ideological counterweight to the very Christian movements the poor in Latin America were building for themselves.

To see why, you have to understand liberation theology. In the 1960s and 70s, Catholic priests, nuns, and laypeople across Latin America began reading the Bible with the poor in small base communities, and their work was shaped by theologians who helped give this movement its intellectual clarity. Gustavo Gutierrez in Peru, whose book A Theology of Liberation named the movement, argued that faith without a commitment to justice was empty. Leonardo Boff and Clodovis Boff in Brazil taught that the Gospel required solidarity with the poor and resistance to the structures that kept them poor. In El Salvador, thinkers like Jon Sobrino and Ignacio Ellacuria described the oppressed as the “crucified people,” showing that Christian faith was tested in the concrete suffering of those pushed to the margins.

Assistant Capitol Police chief accused by Rep. Massie of thwarting congressional J6 pipe-bomb investigation retires

Ashan M. Benedict blocked two USCP officers tied to DNC bomb discovery from testifying before U.S. House panel, Rep. Thomas Massie charges.

Ashan M. Benedict, the assistant U.S. Capitol Police chief who a congressman alleges prevented two special agents involved in the discovery of a pipe bomb at the Democratic National Committee building from testifying before a U.S. House panel, has retired from the department, Blaze News has learned.

Rumors of Benedict’s retirement came one day after Blaze News published an investigation showing unexplained activity by the Capitol Police officers who discovered that bomb, who were overseen by Benedict. The announcement surprised some at the Capitol Police because his contract with the department was set to expire at the end of the month, on Dec. 1. Benedict came to the Capitol Police on Dec. 4, 2023, as assistant chief for protective and intelligence operations, which includes counter-surveillance teams. He later became assistant chief for standards and training operations.

‘They never looked for a third or fourth or fifth pipe bomb.’

Before he joined the USCP, Benedict was the DNC pipe-bomb incident commander for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. In that post, he oversaw ATF’s response to the J6 pipe-bomb threat.

Capitol Police Chief Michael Sullivan distributed a bulletin Monday, Nov. 24, announcing Benedict’s retirement after less than two years with the USCP. Word had already circulated around the department on the Wednesday before that Benedict was leaving, two sources told Blaze News.

Word of Benedict’s retirement started percolating a day after Blaze News published an investigation showing the two USCP counter-surveillance agents who discovered the DNC bomb on Jan. 6, 2021, seemingly acting in a suspicious manner. The cops parked their car that afternoon and walked straight past a pipe bomb to another location, which Blaze News’ investigation discovered that the pipe-bomb suspect visited the night before. Then the officers returned to the DNC building, where one of them discovered the device.

Israel's other front: Inside the IDF's battle to win world's toughest information war

IDF Spokesperson for Int’l Media Lt.-Col. Nadav Shoshani reveals to ‘Magazine’ art of handling the media and public during two years of unprecedented war

‘The number one problem is that there are people who hate us. And the second thing is that people don’t know what’s happening or are missing the information,” said Lt.-Col. Nadav Shoshani, the IDF’s international spokesperson, who had been Israel’s face to international media for the past year and a half.

He noted that when it comes to the haters, the IDF can’t do much; but when it comes to those who are misinformed, Israel can bring them the correct information. “In Gaza City, I brought senior reporters or people who have millions of followers. I did briefings about why we are doing [what we are doing],” he said.

Israel has faced a complex, multi-front war over the past two years. One of the fronts has been the information war. The IDF has various spokespeople who have handled this front. These include Shoshani and his predecessor, Lt. Col. Richard Hecht, who was the international spokesperson when the conflict began. I sat down with Shoshani to learn about how he handled the war and what lessons have been learned.

“This has been a long and hard war and in many cases, our successes are the cases you don’t hear about,” he said. What he meant is that there were cases in the war where Israel had to respond to accusations, such as when Hamas falsely claimed that Israel struck the Ahli Hospital in Gaza City on October 17, 2023, soon after the Oct. 7 massacre.

There are also cases where Israel was able to be preemptive in the information war. “Every day we wake up, and it’s crisis management mode. You hear sometimes about various crises. Hamas wakes up and thinks how it can cause a crisis.”

Israel is thus often on the back foot in a sense, forced to respond to a plethora of lies regarding its conduct in Gaza. The Jewish state also faces a complex challenge because of how it has to handle public relations in the war. The officer noted that when the IDF conducts an operation, the spokespeople will come in after the battle.

Hamas will send in its information warriors first, in the sense that the terrorist group has a plan to make Israel look bad, and then sees how it can execute that plan. “Hamas wakes up and thinks how it can carry out a PR war against us.”

Israel faces an uphill battle. “Hamas doesn’t play fair. It isn’t held to a standard, but news outlets use the info it provides.” He said, “As the saying goes, ‘A lie makes its way halfway around the world before the truth puts its pants on’ – and our job is to put on our pants faster and be preemptive. We look at it as an operation.”

Billboards Urging National Guardsmen to Refuse Orders from Trump Admin Sprout Up Around Country

A left-wing group is putting up billboards in high-crime cities where President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard, telling military service members that is not what they “signed up for” and encouraging them to refuse “unlawful orders.”

Win Without War, a self-described “diverse network of activists and national organizations working for progressive foreign policy,” launched its billboard campaign in September in Washington, DC, before expanding to Chicago, Memphis, and the military bases Ft. Bragg and Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

One of the billboards asks, “Did you go airborne just to pull security for ICE?” before directing people to a website called NotWhatYouSignedUpFor.org.

Israel deploys AI system to monitor soldiers’ social media, block war crimes evidence

The Israeli military has launched a major AI project, known as Morpheus, to prevent its forces from posting evidence of war crimes on social media.

The new system has been basically designed to prevent military forces from unintentionally disclosing sensitive information to the enemy on their social media, the ‘Zionism Observer’ said in a post on its X account.

AI-driven Morpheus will monitor social media accounts of Israeli forces and determine if any videos, texts, or images they post breach information security protocols.

It has been operating in a pilot phase with 45,000 personnel over the past few months, resulting in thousands of instances in which troops have had to remove information from their networks.

The launch of Morpheus underscores Israel’s growing concern over the legal risks posed by soldiers’ online activity, which could be used as evidence in international courts.

Earlier this month, the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) submitted a criminal complaint to the Czech Republic’s Supreme Public Prosecutor’s Office concerning an Israeli soldier’s involvement in the Gaza genocide.

The HRF said the complaint, filed in Prague by attorney Jan Taubl, follows an extensive report detailing Noam Tsuriely’s participation in war crimes, crimes against humanity, acts of genocide, and the public celebration of Israel’s devastating war against Palestinians in his musical performances.

UN Torture Monitor Calls on Israel to Review Reports of 'Organized and Widespread Torture' Against Palestinians

'Tangible threat to our lives': Border Policemen claim self-defense in West Bank killing

Three Border Policemen, who were questioned over their involvement in the killing of two seemingly unarmed Palestinian suspects earlier this week, said Israeli forces had opened fire in an act of self-defense.

The three undercover combat officers are under investigation by the Justice Ministry's unit that investigates police misconduct, after footage circulated of the incident. They were questioned on suspicion of killing and opening fire against orders.

"We felt an immediate and tangible threat to our lives," they said in their interrogation. According to their testimony, Israeli forces fired after the two suspects had refused to strip naked after their arrest, then put their hands in their pockets. One of them tried to escape back into the building, they said.

In footage published by Egyptian news channel Al-Ghad, two Palestinians were seen leaving a building in Jenin's Jabal Abu Dahia neighborhood on Thursday, with their hands raised in the air. After the officers took control, they are seen ordering them to lie on the ground at the entrance to the building.

In the video, one of the Palestinians can be seen entering the building, before an officer shoots them to death at close range. It is unclear from the footage whether the Palestinian did this of his own accord or was ordered to do so.

According to several sources, the three are experienced and relatively veteran combat soldiers in the unit. One is around 25 years old, while the other two are around 30, with dozens of military operations under their belt.

The officers are barred from contacting those involved with the case.
