Statistics show that at least 15 federal inmates have chosen to die by Canada’s state-sanctioned euthanasia since 2018 and 67 have asked to die by the procedure.

Statistics show that at least 15 federal inmates have chosen to die by Canada’s state-sanctioned euthanasia, or Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), since 2018.

According to an Order Paper response released recently, Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) confirmed that the inmates died before their sentences were complete.

Looking closer at the records, the first MAiD deaths came in 2018, when two inmates died. In 2019, 2020, and 2021, one inmate died each year. In 2022, four inmates died by assisted suicide, one in 2023, four in 2024 and one in 2025 to date.

The records do not reveal information on where in Canada the deaths occurred, the reasons or whether they were male or female.

Since MAiD was made legal, 67 federal inmates have asked to die by the procedure, with the numbers higher in the last two years.

The data also did not disclose whether the dead inmates were Track 1 or Track 2 MAiD deaths.

Track 1 MAiD deaths are in those who are ill already, and Track 2 are those whose natural death is not yet imminent. Continue…

He further asserted that Russia could be ready to use military force against NATO within five years, at a moment the Ukraine war shows no signs of stopping. The probe follows a Nov. 28 memo by Dr. Vinay Prasad, director of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), which revealed that COVID-19 vaccines were likely implicated in the deaths of at least 10 children.

The spokesperson did not provide details on which age groups will be covered or what criteria the FDA will use to determine which cases fall within the scope of the investigation.

Data published by the World Health Organization showed that more than 700 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the United States since December 2020.

Those conditions appeared after mold exposure this summer led to a “severe” flare-up of a chronic illness he has been battling since 2017, she said.

Specialists are continuing to work on determining the underlying cause of his illness and are considering a complex array of possibilities from neurological, to autoimmune, to a mixture of both.

Mikhaila said no answers have emerged thus far and he remains “very unwell.”

“I’m hopeful he will recover with time,” she said in a Dec. 9 video post. “When I posted the last video, I didn’t know if he would recover at all. It was really scary and I’m hopeful now, but it’s still early on.”

Flooding, falling rock and debris, and avalanche hazards have led to the closure of all major highways between British Columbia’s Lower Mainland and the Interior, the province says.

The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD), the third most populated district in B.C., has declared a local state of emergency and issued evacuation orders for eight properties in the Chilliwack River Valley due to the flooding.

“High water levels have prompted evacuation in the FVRD and road closures for all major highways to Lower Mainland,” DriveBC said in a Dec. 11 update at 1:41 p.m. ET.

“This situation is evolving and very dynamic. Please pay attention to any emergency messaging and traffic controls.”

DriveBC is warning drivers that other provincial roadways could be closed with “little or no notice.”

The FVRD says an “atmospheric river” is posing an existing or imminent threat to people and property in its “Electoral Area E.” An atmospheric river is a long, narrow band in the atmosphere that carries water vapour, like a river in the sky, often releasing this vapour as rain or snow when it makes landfall. RCMP say they’ve dismantled a major international drug trafficking network that was using Canada Post to send illegal substances to more than a dozen other countries.

Mounties say the investigation began after they became aware of a drug operation that was shipping illegal drugs to more than 12 countries through Canada Post.

Police say that those running the network were shipping drugs such as methamphetamine and cocaine to multiple countries around the world, including the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Sweden, France, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Austria, India, and Ireland. RCMP said the group was also shipping drugs to several provinces across Canada.

Investigators say the investigation included collaboration with the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

RCMP say they executed a search warrant at a Findlay Creek home in Ottawa on Oct. 22. During the search, officers seized nearly 1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine, 200 Hydromorphone pills, cocaine, and other substances, with a total approximate street value of $166,000.

“This operation underscores the RCMP’s commitment to combating organized crime, protecting Canadian communities, and working with international partners to stop the flow of harmful substances in and out of the country,” said Jonathan Ko, superintendent and officer in charge of Greater Toronto Integrated Operations. Member of Canadian Military Intelligence Unit Charged With Espionage

Military police have arrested a non-commissioned member of the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service for passing intelligence to a foreign entity. The foreign entity has not yet been identified.

Master Warrant Officer Matthew Robar was arrested on Dec. 10 and faces multiple charges, including for passing on information to a “Foreign Entity.”

The investigation, which began in 2024, was conducted jointly by the Canadian Forces Military Police and the RCMP. Authorities said the investigation “focused on the unauthorized disclosure of safeguarded information to a Foreign Entity.”

Robar faces eight charges, including violating section 17(1) of the Foreign Interference and Security of Information Act. The section makes it an offence to communicate “special operational information to a foreign entity or to a terrorist group if the person believes, or is reckless as to whether, the information is special operational information.”

The Foreign Interference and Security of Information Act has recently replaced the Security of Information Act, after the government in 2024 introduced new tools to combat foreign interference under Bill C-70. The move came during an ongoing public inquiry into foreign interference, launched following extensive media coverage based on intelligence leaks about China’s meddling in Canada’s affairs.
