The public inquiry into the death of Dawn Sturgess concluded that Putin had ordered the 2018 Novichok attack by GRU agents on Sergei Skripal, a Russian defector and former GRU colonel, in Salisbury, Wiltshire, which eventually resulted in the death of Sturgess, who had no connection to Skripal or Russia.

“The Salisbury poisonings shocked the nation and today’s findings are a grave reminder of the Kremlin’s disregard for innocent lives,” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a statement. “Dawn’s needless death was a tragedy and will forever be a reminder of Russia’s reckless aggression. My thoughts are with her family and loved ones.”

He said the UK “will always stand up to Putin’s brutal regime” and “call out his murderous machine for what it is.”

Dr. Tracy Beth Hoeg, who had been a senior adviser to FDA leadership, has been appointed acting director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER).

Dr. Richard Pazdur, a longtime FDA official who was head of the center, is retiring, the FDA said this week. Pazdur was appointed in November, after the previous center director resigned after he was accused in a lawsuit of illegally targeting a company by saying its FDA-approved product has “significant toxicity.”

CDER regulates drugs available over-the-counter and via prescriptions, including generic drugs and sunscreens. The center has nearly 5,000 employees; the FDA employs about 18,000 people.

Hoeg has worked in the past with Dr. Vinay Prasad, who heads the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), which regulates vaccines and other biological products and has about 1,150 workers; and FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary, including on a 2022 paper that estimated COVID-19 vaccine mandates at universities resulted in more harm than benefit. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a Somali migrant in Minnesota who authorities say was convicted of welfare fraud in Canada and should not have been granted temporary status in the United States.

An immigration judge denied an asylum request from Abdul Dahir Ibrahim in 2004 because of a significant amount of fraud on his record, Fox News reported. However, Ibrahim was granted 10 years of temporary protected status, despite having an order of removal.

Ibrahim was seen in photos posing with Minnesota US House Rep Ilhan Omar, as well as Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

This comes amid ICE’s Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis, which began on December 1. 12 people have been arrested so far, including five other Somalis, two of whom have also been convicted of fraud. Among others arrested in the operation so far include child sex offenders, gang members, and domestic abusers.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in regards to the ongoing operation, "Sanctuary policies and politicians like Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey allowed these pedophiles, domestic terrorists, and gang members to roam the streets and terrorize Americans. In a landmark 2–1 ruling issued Dec. 5, the Court of Appeal found that the B.C. Supreme Court’s 2023 decision dismissing a case involving mineral rights on the territory of the Ehattesaht and Gitxaala First Nations should have taken the province’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) into account in issuing a verdict, saying DRIPA “incorporates UNDRIP” into B.C. law.

“The [B.C. Supreme Court] judge erred in adopting an unduly narrow approach to the legal effect of the Declaration Act and UNDRIP. Properly interpreted, the Declaration Act incorporates UNDRIP into the positive law of British Columbia with immediate legal effect,” Justice Gail Dickson wrote for the majority, with Justice Nitya Iyer concurring.

The decision came less than a day after the Alberta government tabled Bill 14, that, if passed, would have discontinued the court proceeding as part of measures aimed at reducing delays for citizen-initiated petitions.

Feasby said in his decision that the province’s move to potentially halt the court case amounted to silencing the court. He had been hearing arguments on the constitutionality of the APP’s question after Alberta’s chief electoral officer Gordon McClure in late July referred the question to the court.

“Contrary to the pending [Bill 14], this case cannot be discontinued, and the Court cannot be silenced because the case has been decided,” Feasby wrote. “These reasons are delivered despite the anticipated change to the law because reason giving is democratic.”

The APP’s proposed question asks Albertans: “Do you agree that the Province of Alberta shall become a sovereign country and cease to be a province in Canada?” Continue…
