In a development that is not entirely surprising, European leaders are claiming that Washington is looking to "betray" Ukraine and President Zelensky during potential formal peace negotiations with Russia. "There is a possibility that the United States will abandon Ukraine on territorial questions without providing clarity on security guarantees," French President Emmanuel Macron reportedly said according to a "leaked" phone call record with other European leaders.

Likely this was an intentional leak and bit of strong signaling to the Trump administration, as Europe has not been on board with the US President's proposed peace plan from the start. "There is a possibility that the US will betray Ukraine on the issue of territory without clarity on security guarantees," Macron continued. He laid his view that there was "a great danger" for Zelensky. However, Macron's office has subsequently sought to clarify that "The president did not use those words."

The leaked transcript of the call between European leaders strategizing about how to protect the Zelensky government and Kiev's interests was published Thursday by the German magazine Der Spiegel.

Also reportedly on the line engaged in the conversation were German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and of course Zelensky as well.

Merz had in the dialogue agreed that Zelensky should be "extremely careful in the coming days" and warned the Ukrainian leader that "they are playing games with you and with us."

Finland's President Stubb followed with, "We must not leave Ukraine and Volodymyr alone with these people" - after NATO Secretary General Rutte chimed in: "I agree with Alexander. We must protect Volodymyr." The underlying assumption seems to be that Zelensky is in a weak position and is being bullied by the more powerful US officials who have leverage.

Ex-Pornhub Owner Interested In Purchasing Lukoil Assets

Austrian businessman Bernd Bergmair, former majority owner of Pornhub, has approached the U.S. Treasury about buying assets of Russian oil major Lukoil after the Trump administration sanctioned the company.

"Obviously Lukoil International GmbH would be a great investment and anybody would be fortunate to have the privilege of owning those assets,” Bergmair told Reuters.

"I don’t comment on potential investments as a matter of course," he added.

Last month, U.S. Treasury issued the greenlight for companies to begin talks with Lukoil for its foreign assets, with U.S. oil and gas giants Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) and Chevron (NYSE:CVX) have already expressed interest. Exxon is in talks with Iraq’s Oil Ministry to buy Lukoil’s 75% stake in the West Qurna 2 oilfield, one of the country’s largest. Iraq's oil ministry has invited several U.S. oil companies to enter negotiations over the West Qurna 2 takeover through a competitive bidding process. West Qurna-2 oilfield produces more than 400,000 bpd of crude. The Iraqi government has taken over operations at West Qurna 2, including paying staff salaries directly.

Previously, Lukoil reached a preliminary agreement with Gunvor to buy its international assets. However, the giant commodity trader pulled the $22-billion bid after the U.S. Treasury Department expressed dissatisfaction with the deal, calling Gunvor a Russian “puppet”.

“President Trump has been clear that the war must end immediately. As long as Putin continues the senseless killings, the Kremlin’s puppet, Gunvor, will never get a license to operate and profit,” the U.S. Treasury said in a post on X.

Unfortunately, the latest round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine have been unfruitful after the Kremlin failed to agree to Trump’s 19-point peace plan. Some of the critical amendments in the new plan include no handover of the Donbas region to Russia for free, no automatic veto on Ukraine joining NATO in the future and provision of Article 5-style protection for Ukraine, meaning the U.S. would be bound to intervene if Russia invades in the future. A proposal for full amnesty for war crimes that was part of the first plan has also been removed.

Ukraine has doubled down on attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, including the latest attack on a shadow fleet vessel in African waters.

Ukraine building military factory in NATO state

The facility in Denmark is being built by Fire Point, which is reportedly under investigation over potential links to a corruption scandal

Fire Point, the Ukrainian defense contractor behind the long-range Flamingo cruise missile, has broken ground on a military facility in Denmark, despite allegations linking the firm to a graft scandal in Ukraine’s energy sector, according to media reports.

Construction began on Monday with a ceremony in the southern Danish town of Vojens near Skrydstrup Air Base. According to DR.dk, the facility will produce fuel for drones and missiles and is the first known Ukrainian-owned military factory on NATO soil. The Danish authorities have reportedly bypassed more than 20 laws and regulations to fast-track approval, with production expected to begin next autumn.

The Danish Defense Ministry later confirmed that the project has moved to the next phase. Industry Minister Morten Bodskov said Denmark plans to host several Ukrainian defense companies in the near future, following agreements reached earlier this year.

This comes after months of corruption allegations against Fire Point. Established in 2021, the company has rapidly become one of Kiev’s key arms suppliers, which raised concerns of political interference.

Ukrainian media also claims that the company is under investigation for bribing officials, inflating prices, and misreporting deliveries. Several outlets have linked Fire Point to a major corruption scandal involving Timur Mindich – a former associate of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky – who is accused of running a $100 million kickback scheme in the energy sector, with reports suggesting he or an associate could partially own the company.

DOJ Indictment Alleges ChatGPT Aided Violent Stalker.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) alleges in an indictment filed on Tuesday that ChatGPT encouraged Brett Michael Dadig, a man accused of harassing over a dozen women across five states, to persist in his stalking behavior. ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, reportedly acted as a “best friend,” entertaining his rants against women and advising him to ignore criticism.

Dadig, 31, was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of cyberstalking, interstate stalking, and interstate threats. According to the DOJ, Dadig used digital communications and social media to harass and intimidate his victims, causing them fear and emotional distress. Troy Rivetti, First Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, stated, “Dadig stalked and harassed more than 10 women by weaponizing modern technology and crossing state lines, and through a relentless course of conduct, he caused his victims to fear for their safety and suffer substantial emotional distress.”

The indictment revealed that Dadig hosted a podcast where he expressed vitriolic views against women, often using slurs and even issuing threats. On his show, he discussed how ChatGPT served as his “therapist” and “best friend,” encouraging him to continue creating content that generated “haters,” which he equated with relevance and monetization.

The chatbot reportedly told him that “God’s plan for him was to build a ‘platform’ and to ‘stand out when most people water themselves down.’”Dadig allegedly used ChatGPT to ask questions about women, including where he might meet a future wife. The chatbot suggested he frequent gyms and athletic communities, advice he followed to the detriment of his victims. In one instance, he stalked a woman at her Pilates studio, sending unsolicited explicit photos and harassing her to the point she had to relocate and reduce her working hours. In another case, he confronted a woman in a parking lot, groped her, and put his hands around her neck.

The case underscores growing concerns about the potential dangers of AI chatbots, including their role in enabling harmful behavior and their ability to gather and share sensitive information. Reports suggest that other AI platforms, such as Elon Musk’s Grok, have been used to doxx individuals, providing personal details such as addresses, phone numbers, and family information.

The FBI Wants The Ability To Surveil Americans With Biometric AI Drones

The agency is seeking information on drones with AI facial recognition abilities and more.

In yet another escalation of the march toward technocratic dystopia, the FBI is seeking to acquire AI surveillance drones with facial recognition capabilities. The Intercept reported that last week, the agency published a “Request for Information” regarding “artificial intelligence solutions for UAS,” or unmanned aerial systems.

The document announces that “The Government would like to know which firms can provide” artificial intelligence and machine learning “solutions” for UAS platforms. The document lists desired features of such technology, including “Object detection: Vehicles, Vessels, People, Animals, Firearms,” “License plate recognition,” and “facial recognition,” among other capabilities.

Federal law enforcement agencies have conducted aerial surveillance on the domestic population before, especially during protests. Local law enforcement agencies are adopting drones, as well. However, the FBI’s new request for information on UAS capabilities aligns with a broader effort to integrate artificial intelligence and biometrics into government tools and operations.

Constructing the AI digital prison

The Trump administration has accelerated previous efforts to expand the use of AI from the Pentagon and CIA to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). These developments often go hand in hand with surveillance. A contract inked during Trump’s first administration launched the construction of AI surveillance towers along the border during Biden’s administration. Earlier this year, Palantir earned a contract with ICE to build an “Immigration OS” AI surveillance system. The CIA-backed company has extensive reach in the halls of power—for example, it partnered with the CDC to build a data collection system during COVID.

The news of the FBI’s interest in AI surveillance drones came around the same time as a recent announcement from DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, who touted a billion-dollar expansion of TSA “screening technology.” DHS is also currently pushing to advance the congressionally required biometric entry/exit system for foreign visitors that Trump sought to complete in his first term. In another advancement of biometrics, the TSA may soon offer biometric scanning for those who still don’t have a REAL ID— identification that meets federal security standards.

Some Americans seem comfortable with such tools being used against “illegals” (citing the flimsy logic that people don’t have rights unless the government deems them worthy via citizenship status). But surveillance tools are unsurprisingly used beyond immigration enforcement as federal agencies expand their reach.

Meta Starts Kicking Australian Children Off Instagram and Facebook Ahead of Social Media Ban

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta on Thursday began deactivating Instagram and Facebook accounts of Australian users under the age of 16 ahead of next week’s social media ban.

Australia passed a new law in 2024 that forces major social media platforms to block anyone under the age of 16 from accessing their services under penalty of hefty multi-million dollar fines for the platforms. The law will go into effect on Wednesday, December 10.

As Breitbart News reported in November, Meta began notifying Australian users aged 13-15 that their accounts would soon be shut down by the company in compliance with the country’s new law.

Both Guardian and the BBC reported that the company began the account deactivation process on Thursday ahead of next week’s deadline.

“While we are working hard to remove all users who we understand to be under the age of 16 by 10 December, compliance with the law will be an ongoing and multilayered process,” a Meta spokesperson told the Guardian.

“If you’re under 16, you can still preserve and download your digital history across Instagram, Threads, and Facebook,” the spokesperson explained. “Before you turn 16, we will notify you that you will soon be allowed to regain access to these platforms, and your content will be restored exactly as you left it.”

Netanyahu taps his military secretary, Roman Gofman, as next Mossad director

Considered close to the prime minister, Gofman reportedly selected over 2 candidates suggested by outgoing spy chief David Barnea, who will leave the position in June

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday tapped his military secretary Maj. Gen. Roman Gofman as the next Mossad director.

The current chief of the spy agency, David Barnea, will end his five-year term in June 2026. According to Channel 12, Netanyahu’s selection of Gofman — a Mossad outsider — means that he passed over the two candidates suggested by Barnea.

The appointment was submitted to the Advisory Committee for Senior Appointments for review.

Gofman’s appointment is not expected to face much opposition, unlike the more controversial appointment of former IDF general David Zini to lead the Shin Bet domestic security agency, which faced weeks of court petitions and appeals. Zini was eventually sworn in to the post in October.

Born in Belarus, Gofman moved to Israel in 1990 at age 14. During his military career, he rose through the IDF Armored Corps, becoming a division commander before moving out of combat roles.

U.S. Businesses Are Going Bankrupt At An Absolutely Blistering Pace

Why is the number of business bankruptcies in the United States rising so rapidly? It isn’t because the economy is doing well. Every day there are more news stories about businesses that have failed, and this is clearly reflected in the numbers that I am about to share with you. We haven’t seen anything like this since the Great Recession, and if our economic troubles continue to accelerate during the months ahead 2026 is going to be a very messy year.

Earlier today I came across an article which explained that the number of small businesses that are filing for Subchapter V bankruptcy has set a brand new record high in 2025…

A six-year-old federal program designed to help the smallest American businesses cut debt and get a fresh start has set a record for the number of cases filed, court data show.

More than 2,200 people and small firms filed bankruptcy this year under the so-called Subchapter V rules, which make it cheaper and faster to win relief from creditors, according to data provider Epiq Bankruptcy Analytics.

“Creditors are just breathing down their necks,” said Carol Fox, a court-approved trustee who oversees more than two dozen cases filed in Southern Florida.

This is really bad news.

Small businesses are traditionally the primary engine for job growth in this country.

So the fact that so many of them are going belly up is not a good sign at all.

Meanwhile, large businesses are going bankrupt at a very alarming pace as well.

In fact, through the first seven months of this year the number of corporate bankruptcies in the United States was at the highest level that we have seen since the early days of the pandemic…

The U.S. saw a sharp increase in corporate bankruptcy filings in July, according to a recent report, reaching a post-COVID peak and placing 2025 on track to surpass last year’s total.

S&P Global Market Intelligence, the research and data arm of the credit-rating agency, found that filings by large public and private companies rose to 71 last month from 66 in June, marking the highest monthly tally since July 2020. So far in 2025, meanwhile, the total of 446 bankruptcy filings is the highest for this seven-month stretch since 2010.

When large numbers of businesses fail, hiring slows down and we typically see large scale layoffs all over the nation.

And that is precisely what is happening.

Kaine, Paul, Schumer, & Schiff file War Powers Resolution “to block the use of the U.S. Armed Forces Against Venezuela

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Rand Paul (R-KY), Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-NY), and U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) filed a War Powers Resolution to block the use of the U.S. Armed Forces to engage in hostilities within or against Venezuela unless authorized by Congress. President Donald Trump said yesterday that there would be strikes on land “very soon.” The War Powers Resolution is privileged, and may be called up for a vote on the Senate floor in 10 days.

“Although President Trump campaigned on no more wars, he and his Administration are unilaterally moving us closer to one with Venezuela—and they are doing so without providing critical information to the American people about the campaign’s overall strategy, its legal rationale, and the potential fallout from a prolonged conflict, which includes increased migration to our border. The Administration claims that military action is needed to address the real scourge of drugs in our communities, but at the same time, pardons convicted narcotraffickers, slashes funding for substance use and drug court programs, and chooses against interdicting these alleged drug boats that would allow us to find and prosecute the kingpins responsible for trafficking drugs,” said Kaine, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere. “We should not be risking the lives of our nation’s servicemembers to engage in military action within Venezuela without a robust debate in Congress. This is why the Framers gave the power to declare war to Congress, not the President.”

“The American people do not want to be dragged into endless war with Venezuela without public debate or a vote,” said Paul. “We ought to defend what the Constitution demands: deliberation before war.”

“Since the founding of our Republic, the Constitution has vested one power clearly and exclusively in Congress: the power to declare war. Let’s be clear: Congress has not declared war on Venezuela,” said Leader Schumer. “There is nothing ‘America-first’ about sending U.S. troops into danger for a mission the administration cannot justify, cannot explain, and has no legal authority to launch. The American people do not want to be dragged into a needless, open-ended war. If the White House moves ahead with strikes on Venezuelan territory, the Senate will act immediately to stop an illegal war and defend our constitutional powers.”

“President Trump’s pledge yesterday to begin strikes on Venezuelan territory ‘very soon’ should be the loudest alarm bell yet for our colleagues in Congress and our entire nation,” said Schiff. “We are being dragged into a war with Venezuela without legal basis or congressional authorization, and the Senate must be prepared to stop an illegal war that would needlessly place at risk thousands of American servicemembers. Americans do not want endless war.”

Kaine, Paul, and Schiff previously introduced a bipartisan resolution to prevent the use of military force within or against Venezuela, but it did not receive enough Republican votes to pass. Kaine and Schiff also introduced a similar measure focused on repeated strikes in the southern Caribbean Sea that the Trump Administration has carried out without congressional authorization, killing dozens of unknown individuals. The legislation did not gain enough Republican support to pass.

The barrier will be comprised of a paved patrol road, a “natural obstacle” adjacent to the road, as well as ditches and embankments where necessary, the army has said.

The land belongs to residents of the Palestinian city of Tubas and the town of Tammun, and 85 percent of it is privately owned, according to veteran civil rights activist Dror Etkes,

Israel launches strikes on Hezbollah targets day after direct talks with Lebanon

IDF says it struck weapons depots after issuing evacuation warnings for several villages in south Lebanon; countries still said slated to hold second meeting on economic cooperation

The Israel Defense Forces carried out a wave of airstrikes against what it said were Hezbollah weapons depots in southern Lebanon on Thursday, just one day after Israeli officials held their first direct meeting with counterparts from the Lebanese government in decades.

While Lebanon may have hoped that engaging in the contacts would help dissuade Israel from continuing such strikes in southern Lebanon, Jerusalem has shown no indication that it is prepared to hold back amid its frustration with the pace of Beirut’s efforts to disarm Hezbollah.

The strikes were carried out after the IDF issued evacuation warnings for residents of the southern Lebanon villages of Jbaa, Mahrouna, Mjadel, and Baraachit.

The IDF said the weapon depots were placed “in the heart of the civilian population,” and they “constituted a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.”

“This is yet another example of Hezbollah’s cynical use of Lebanese civilians as human shields, and continued operations from within civilian areas,” the military added.

Proposing Senator Moreno was born in Bogota, Colombia, and emigrated to the United States with his family as a child. At 18, he became a citizen and renounced his Colombian citizenship.

Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno, a Republican born in Colombia, has introduced a new bill that would outlaw dual citizenship for Americans, his office announced late on Tuesday.

Through the introduction of the Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025, any person simultaneously holding US citizenship and a citizenship of another country would be required to renounce their citizenship, or that of the United States, within one year.

If a person failed to renounce their foreign citizenship, this would be treated as a voluntary resignation of US citizenship under Section 349(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1481(a). With that, any voluntary acquisition of a foreign citizenship after the bill was put in place would trigger immediate loss of US citizenship.

Proposing Sen. Moreno was born in Bogota, Colombia, and emigrated to the United States with his family as a child. At 18, he became a citizen and renounced his Colombian citizenship. “It was an honor to pledge an oath of allegiance to the United States of America and only to the United States of America,” Moreno said in a statement. “Being an American citizen is an honor and a privilege − and if you want to be an American, it’s all or nothing.”

Moreno’s office issued a statement that the bill would ensure “sole and exclusive allegiance” to the US, noting his belief that American citizenship was an ”honor and a privilege” which should not be shared with other nations.

This would not only impact American and naturalized citizens living stateside; it would also impact those living abroad. Though the US government did not provide clear data on the exact number of Americans with dual citizenship, other experts have placed the number of US nationals with dual citizenship around the world somewhere between 3% and 10%.

However, eligibility and possession are two different stories. The number of those currently holding dual citizenship is not precisely known, but a larger number is believed to be eligible to hold additional citizenship through descent from other nations.

For Israeli-Americans and American-Israelis, this could mean a battle ahead. The Israeli government does not provide official data on the percentage of Israelis who hold dual citizenship, but some estimates do exist.

Between 2023 to 2024, immigration from the United States to Israel, creating dual citizenship, rose from around 3,000 to 3,200, according to data presented by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) and Nefesh B’Nefesh, an organization supporting aliyah (immigration to Israel). NBN said that the year would end with as many as 4,000 moving from the US. The busiest month for immigration in the organization’s 23 years of existence was August 2025. That same month, the first charter flight filled with people moving to Israel since October 7, 2023, arrived, transporting troves of US immigrants, as well as some Canadians.

Among those who would be impacted by the proposed Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025 are naturalized citizens retaining their original citizenship, US-born children of foreign nationals who acquired US citizenship at birth, foreign-born children of American and foreign citizen parents who acquire both citizenships by birth, individuals who marry foreign nationals and automatically acquire citizenship from their partner’s country by marriage, and individuals who naturalize abroad.

Severed fingers and incisions: Bodies returned by Israel shock Gaza families

Hopes of closure for grieving families give way to new anguish as they confront the unrecognisable condition of their loved ones’ remains

The bodies handed over by Israel arrived in Gaza frozen, numbered and silent.

Palestinian families hoped their arrival would finally answer their two-year-long questions about the fate of their missing relatives.

But with these answers came new questions, leaving many families in limbo even after they were finally able to bury their loved ones: what had happened to their bodies?

Many of the remains delivered to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis were difficult to identify - some with severed parts, others bearing long-stitched incisions.

This has led families to suspect that vital organs or body parts were taken while their relatives were in Israeli custody.

Yet forensic doctors in Gaza say they cannot confirm or refute these claims, as the Ministry of Health lacks the equipment needed for full examinations.

“My brother Ahmed went missing on the first day of the war,” Muhammed Ayesh Ramadan, a resident of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, told Middle East Eye.

“We did not know anything about him, or how he disappeared, but I kept saying he was missing and kept searching for him, hoping to find him.”

When bodies were returned from Israel as part of the ceasefire signed with Hamas in October, the Palestinian Ministry of Health displayed photos of them at Nasser Hospital for families to inspect.

Ramadan searched for three days without success. On the fourth day, he finally spotted the clues he had been looking for.

“I identified him with around 70 percent certainty from his face,” he recalled.

The purchase coincides with a $100 million corruption scandal engulfing Zelensky’s administration, with several of his closest allies accused of involvement in a massive kickback scheme.

Earlier this year, the Cosbys were accused in court of defaulting on $17.5 million in loans on the residence. Bill Cosby, a serial rapist, who has faced allegations from more than 60 women of sexual assault, rape, and harassment, was likely seeking liquidity; the couple allegedly stopped making mortgage payments in June 2024.

Cosby acquired the home through a lawyer in 1987, according to city records, near the height of his career. The stately six-bedroom residence was reportedly purchased as a surprise for his wife, Camille.

Built in 1899 by architect John Duncan, the 13,000-square-foot townhouse boasts an ornate limestone facade, a copper mansard roof and easy access to Central Park. The interiors include a soaring central hall, intricately inlaid floors, 11 fireplaces and a 500-square-foot roof garden.

The property is just a few doors down from Jeffrey Epstein’s former townhouse, which sold for $51 million in 2021. The acquisition by the Ukrainian leader, facing his own severe corruption allegations, now links two different scandals on one of Manhattan’s most exclusive blocks. Representatives for President Zelensky have not yet commented on the transaction.

The hidden list of Jewish terrorists Israel’s far right wants to free

In a 111-page letter that his lawyer submitted to President Isaac Herzog on Sunday, Benjamin Netanyahu formally requested a pardon for charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust that have been circling him since 2019. The appeal immediately generated headlines around the world and further inflamed deep-running tensions between the Israeli prime minister’s supporters and opponents. But it also coincided with a parallel campaign — one that has drawn much less media attention — by Israel’s far right to obtain presidential pardons for Jewish extremists in prison for violent crimes against Palestinians.

In late October, 11 ministers and 44 other members of the governing coalition signed a letter calling on Herzog to release Jewish prisoners convicted of murder, arson, and other racist attacks. Initiated by Limor Son Har-Melech of Itamar Ben Gvir’s Jewish Power Party (Otzma Yehudit), the letter was sent after Israel agreed to release nearly 2,000 Palestinian detainees (including around 250 prisoners serving life sentences) in exchange for Israeli hostages as part of the Gaza ceasefire deal.

However, the exact number of Jewish “security” prisoners (as distinct from regular “criminal” prisoners), the crimes they are accused of, and the length of their sentences remain unclear. And in response to email requests, the Israel Prison Service, the President’s Residence, the Shin Bet, MK Son Har-Melech (who holds the record among lawmakers for prison visits), and the Honenu legal organization (which defends Israeli Jews accused of security offenses — or, as their website puts it, those who “find themselves in legal entanglements due to defending themselves against Arab aggression, or due to their love for Israel”) all declined to offer any detailed information.

The sentencing of Israeli Jews for attacks against Palestinians is extremely rare. According to data collected by the Israeli human rights group Yesh Din, 94 percent of police investigations into attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinians are closed without indictment, while the probability of an Israeli soldier being indicted for killing a Palestinian is 0.4 percent.

Still, particularly egregious cases do occasionally end in a prison sentence. A Honenu spokesperson refused to provide a full list of these individuals, but stated that the number of prisoners whose release they had petitioned was “a few dozen” — including some in pre-trial detention, some who were convicted, and some who are in community service. A spokesperson for the Israeli president, meanwhile, said he had received more than 30 pardon requests for Jewish security prisoners.
