>-No more motherfucking computer chips. We want a truck, not a computer. NO ELECTRONICS AT ALL. NONE.
Here here! I spent a weekend working pit crew for a minor league race team at PIR (Portland Intl Raceway) and one of the other volunteers was Ford Light Trucks director. He bored us to death on the tow bragging about how "next year" every Ford light truck would finally have electronic fuel injection and ignition.
I told him he needed to bring back the "69 F-150 with the 300 inch 6 cylinder, a four or five speed, 4wd and either a long bed or no bed (for a flat bed). (I'm a rancher).
Told him that when it's -20, the cows have to be fed, water chopped, hay and bedding hauled. Any "69 can be got running with jumper cables and a can of ether, maybe wipe the condensation out of the distributor cap.
Towing it to the dealer is not an option and it forces a rancher to own multiple vehicles with all of the multiple expenses that entails.
You'd be surprised how many farms and ranches are still nursing their old vehicles along. I've got '85 and ' 93 Ford IDI diesels, all analog, all manual, roll up windows with wind wings. I'm going to be like Pharoh and be buried in one of them.
