One government agent, whom LSD was tested on, either jumped out of a window or was pushed.
Frank Olson was the U.S. government scientist and CIA contractor who fell to his death from a 13th-floor window of the Hotel Statler in New York City on November 28, 1953, about nine days after being secretly dosed with LSD without his consent. Olson worked as a biochemist for the U.S. Army's Special Operations Division at Fort Detrick, Maryland, contributing to the CIA's MKUltra program on mind control and biological weapons. On November 19, 1953, during a CIA retreat at Deep Creek Lake, Maryland, he was unknowingly given LSD by Sidney Gottlieb, head of MKUltra, as part of secret experiments on unwitting subjects. Olson suffered severe psychological distress afterward, including paranoia and hallucinations, and was taken to New York for psychiatric evaluation. The official government account initially called it a suicide due to a "nervous breakdown," but this was revised after the 1975 Rockefeller Commission exposed MKUltra, revealing the LSD dosing. Olson's family received a $750,000 settlement and apologies from President Gerald Ford and CIA Director William Colby. However, his sons, Eric and Nils Olson, have long argued it was murder—possibly a blow to the head before being thrown from the window—to silence him after he expressed ethical concerns about CIA interrogation techniques using biological agents. A 1994 exhumation showed a hematoma on his temple consistent with a pre-fall injury, and forensic pathologist James Starrs supported the homicide theory. In 2012, the family sued the government for wrongful death, but the case was dismissed in 2013.This incident remains a cornerstone of revelations about MKUltra's unethical human experiments, with no one ever charged.
Frank Olsen. Wonder if any relation to Sept. 11 perp Ted Olsen?
