Update to last night’s Charlotte light rail stabbing. There isn’t a lot yet, but a lot more info than last night:
Perpetrator: Oscar Solarzano, 33, illegal immigrant, previously deported, address shows a roof above a homeless shelter, the face tattoos and the way the eyebrows are shaved suggest Sureños gang, no NC priors. Currently no bond and there is a court date already set for Monday.
Victim: Kenyon Dobie, early-20s black male, random passenger, stabbed once in the chest, still critical but stable at CMC.
4:50 p.m. Friday on the Blue Line near 25th St (NoDa). Drunk Solarzano hops the train without paying while continuing to drink at Scaleybark station, starts yelling and challenging people right away, zeros in on Dobie at some point, pulls a big fixed-blade knife and buries it in his chest. Someone triggered the emergency brake. Train slams to a stop. Cops arrived within about 5 minutes and grab Solarzano and medics arrived within about 10 minutes.

US home delistings rose +18,460 YoY, or +28%, in September, to 84,278, the highest for that month since 2017.
A home is considered “delisted” if it stays off the market for over 31 days without selling or going under contract.
Delistings have increased +38,527, or +84%, over the last 4 years.
As a result, delistings now reflect 5.5% of all home listings, the highest September percentage since at least 2016.
