I've heard people refer to the DNA helix as an antenna.
I've heard other people refer to consciousness as a field (like a broadcast).
So, perhaps consciousness happens at a critical mass of "antennas" - synchronized or configured in some general manner.
Perhaps "synthetic" consciousness (artificial general intelligence) will happen at a comparable critical mass of antennas or input points coupled with processing power.
