I'm trying to organise a timeline of events but I would like to be as fluid and dynamic with my events as possible. Is there any software out there that can assist? I'm hoping to keep all events as "objects" which I can resort. It doesn't have to be an app designed for this purpose, but something I can repurpose even.
Yes I'm aware of mind mapping and diagramming programs..
But I'd like to be able to create an object, set up all sorts of custom variables (Date, alt date, source, images, text, tags) and then be able to link them together and sort them in all sorts of ways.
Right now I'm just using a spreadsheet

Yeah those are neat, but I want to be able to put multiple data possibilities.
For example, I'm tracking 3 date types:

When it was said to have occured
-
When it was first written down
-
When it was first actually published
Say a claim about Ancient Rome. Something happens in 300BC. Is first written about by a historian in 200BC. Is first translated in 1100AD. Manuscript lost. Original translation lost. First published 1500AD.
Did event happen?
I have a theory that if I mark down events in this way, I can then sort it based on manuscript time stamps instead and see if they follow a logical progression of ideas.
