Minnesota’s Democratic Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan flouted state law by failing to hold quarterly meetings on lawmaker safety before the June 14 assassination of state House Speaker Melissa Hortman, prompting harsh backlash against Flanagan from colleagues in the legislature for the “shameful” oversight.

Flanagan, who is running to replace retiring US Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.), only held around half of the required meetings of the Minnesota Advisory Committee on Capitol Area Security over the past five years.

Ignoring the state-mandated briefings on security for lawmakers could prove a stumbling block to Flanagan as she seeks higher office — and has drawn harsh criticism from Republicans in the Minnesota legislature.

“The Advisory Committee on Capitol Area Security is designed to ensure that legislators, visitors, and staff at the Capitol are kept as safe as possible, but we can’t fulfill that duty if the chair refuses to actually call meetings as required by law,” Minnesota House GOP Whip Jim Nash told The Post.

“It’s incredibly irresponsible, and frankly just confusing, that the elected official who chairs the committee and has her office within the Capitol complex refuses to take the responsibility of this group seriously,” Nash said.

“There are a lot of conversations to be had and decisions to be made, especially this year, and the fact that she has kept this committee on the back burner for years is shameful.”

From 2019 to 2024, the advisory panel met just 13 times, according to its annual reports, even though Minnesota law mandates that the committee “shall meet quarterly” — meaning at least 24 meetings should have been convened by Flanagan.

None of the meetings held before 2023 have detailed information available online, and just two — one in 2023 and one in 2024 — have their minutes publicly available. Only one of the reports arrived before its Jan. 15 deadline, according to KTTC, which first reported on the issues.

my biggest bone to pick with mtg is that she was crying and screeching about $17 million trust fund for congress to pay out to staffers and interns who they sexually abused, harassed and assaulted, and she threatened to go public with it, but now, mtg has gone crickets on the matter

mtg seems to be all bluster to capture headlines, but when it comes right down to it, little to no action

White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles revealed that President Donald Trump will get out and “campaign like it’s 2024 again” for the 2026 midterm elections.

During an interview on The Mom View, Wiles spoke about the 2026 celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the 2026 Winter Olympics, and the FIFA World Cup. Wiles also referenced how, instead of focusing on localizing the midterm elections, the Trump administration would turn that approach “on its head.”

“This is such a great time for him to be in office,” Wiles said. “He’s such a patriot. He loves it so much. He’s going to have a fun next year, but, we’re going to put him on the campaign trail, too. Typically — just a little bit of campaign speak, if I may.”

Wiles went on to explain that “in the midterms, it’s not about who’s sitting at the White House,” but about localizing the election and keeping “the federal officials out of it.”

“We’re actually going to turn that on its head,” Wiles shared. “And, put him on the ballot because so many of those low propensity voters are Trump voters. And, we saw, a week ago Tuesday, what happens when he’s not on the ballot and not active. So, I haven’t quite broken it to him yet, but he’s going to campaign like it’s 2024 again.”

Wiles’s comment comes a week after Rep. Matt Van Epps (R-TN) won a special election for Tennessee’s 7th congressional district.

Federal agencies have terminated and descoped 43 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $3.5 billion, saving $222 million in taxpayer funds, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) said in a Dec. 6 post on X.

The canceled contracts included “a $4.3M Dept. of Treasury IT contract to ‘develop a comprehensive strategic narrative and management approach aimed at the Human Centered Transformation and Enhanced Partnerships,’” DOGE said.

A $29 million Department of Commerce consulting contract for “providing the necessary staff to perform Program Management, providing planning, analysis, and support in managing projects” was terminated as well, it said.

The DOGE initiative has so far saved $214 billion as of Oct. 4, which amounts to more than $1,329 per taxpayer.

The savings were achieved through a combination of asset sales, workforce reductions, interest savings, regulatory savings, fraud and improper payments elimination, and grant cancellations.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has registered the most savings under DOGE, followed by the General Services Administration, Social Security Administration, Office of Personnel Management (OPM), and Small Business Administration (SBA).

In a Nov. 24 post on X, DOGE rebutted rumors that the initiative was being shut down following a Reuters article that included a quote from OPM director Scot Kupor saying DOGE “doesn’t exist.” Kupor later claimed the article had been selectively edited to create an attention-grabbing narrative.

DOGE said the Reuters story was “fake news,” adding that the Trump administration “was given a mandate by the American people to modernize the federal government and reduce waste, fraud, and abuse.”

During an Oct. 31 interview with podcaster Joe Rogan, former DOGE head Elon Musk said DOGE was continuing to reduce waste and fraud in the government system.

Musk said that since he left the initiative in May, DOGE has become less publicized because people who oppose it now have no single person to target.

A gang of Philadelphia teenagers accused of robbing a Dick's Sporting Goods store in Florida while attending a football tournament have been named and shamed by a no-nonsense sheriff.

Members of the eight-strong mob were arrested and hit with felony charges after their alleged December 6 theft spree - something they may not have expected in their Pennsylvania home city, whose district attorney is a notoriously woke prosecutor called Larry Krasner.

The teenagers are members of the United Thoroughbreds team from Philadelphia and were in Davenport to face the Coco Tigers team for the Prolifix Sportz National Championship.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd mocked the gang at a press conference on Monday, saying their alleged spree cost their team the championship game after their arrests meant they missed the showdown.

'I don't know if these were starters or not, but we were finishers,' Judd said.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also took aim at the suspects on X, sharing footage of Judd's press conference with the caption: 'They picked the wrong state — and the wrong county.'

The youths were arrested at the store and will need to travel back to Florida from Philadelphia to face felony charges. While they were in jail, their team lost the championship game 26-6.

At the press conference on Monday, Judd named the group members- all aged between 14 and 15 - as Daimon Johnson; Elijah Myers; Ibm-Mahdee Abdul-Haqq; Jacob Smith; Marcus Hudgens; Mark Bryan; Tymir Smith and Tymir Speller.

They allegedly stole a total of 47 items worth more than $2,200, and Judd said the group 'systematically' swept the store by splitting into two groups.

Judd said the gang targeted goods by having one teenager legitimately buy an item while the others looked for products to swipe.

The youngster who purchased an item then met the others inside, who stuffed a Dick's store bag with stolen merchandise in hopes of sneaking it out of the store, authorities said.

'They stole, and they stole, and they stole,' the sheriff repeated as he showed a list of the items that were allegedly stolen.

He added: 'Not only did they steal, but ostensibly they may have cost their team the championship.'

Judd said store employees watched the alleged thefts unfold on surveillance cameras while the teenagers appeared to believe they had gotten away with it.

'Guess what… you can't go anyplace, anytime that you're not on camera,' Judd said.

Surveillance footage showed the group moving around the store during the alleged theft, and they were seen placing items into bags, including hoodies, football gloves and lip guards.

Judd said that when the teenagers were arrested at the store, their football coach raced to the scene to try and convince officers not to take them into custody.

The sheriff said deputies were not impressed that the coach tried to 'beg them out of it instead of holding them accountable.'

'They were not taking bubble gum, one piece to chew. They stole over $2,000 worth of products, over 47 different products,' he added.

The championship game was held hours after the arrests.

'They let the team down. What about the rest of the kids on the team?' the sheriff continued.

'If you don't steal, we're your new best friends. If you steal, we're your worst enemy. Merry Christmas.'

Authorities said none of the teens had prior criminal records.

All eight were taken to a juvenile detention center in Florida and now face two felonies each - retail theft over $750 and conspiracy to commit retail theft.

Although they were released from custody, the teenagers will be required to go back to the state to face charges.
