News update from the International Court of Justice in Den Haag about Russia's case. Not reported in the media, so here is the report from the Russian embassy:

"The International Court of Justice has decided to accept the Russian Federation's counterclaim against Ukraine under the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide for examination. All objections raised by Kyiv regarding the alleged inadmissibility of the Russian claims were rejected, and the Court accepted the Russian Federation's claims in full for examination.

The decision of the International Court of Justice in The Hague on December 5 was a logical consequence of Ukraine's unsuccessful attempts to sue Russia for initiating the special military operation. This legal process was initiated by the Kyiv regime and its Western backers in February 2022. At that time, Kyiv, with the support of 33 Western countries, filed a complaint with the International Criminal Court alleging that Russia had violated the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

On February 1, 2024, the Court issued a ruling rejecting all of Ukraine's accusations against Russia. Only one question remains for judicial review: whether Ukraine itself committed genocide.

On November 18, 2024, the Russian side submitted evidence to the Court, comprising more than 10,000 pages, which documents the genocide of the Russian and Russian-speaking population of the Donbas by the Kyiv regime. The evidence included information on more than 140 cases of the targeted extermination of the civilian population of the Donbas, corroborated by the testimonies of over 300 witnesses and victims, as well as by the findings of expert reports and investigations.

The Ukrainian government, instigated by the West, employed a wide arsenal of war crimes against the civilian population in carrying out its genocidal agenda: mass murder, torture, bombings, and indiscriminate shelling. Throughout Ukraine, a policy of violently eradicating Russian ethnic identity was pursued: the Russian language and culture were banned, and the Russian-speaking Orthodox Church was suppressed.

The Ukrainian government, instigated by the West, employed a wide arsenal of war crimes against the civilian population in carrying out its genocidal plans: mass murder, torture, bombings, and indiscriminate shelling. Moscow held Kyiv accountable for all these atrocities by filing counterclaims that not only address the Ukrainian leadership's implementation of state policies of genocide, but also numerous other violations of the Convention: complicity in genocide, incitement to genocide, and failure to take measures to prevent and punish genocide.

The West's hopes of using legal "weapons" against Russia have been dashed. Russia is committed to respecting international law and believes that maintaining the impartiality of international judicial bodies is a prerequisite for implementing the principle of the peaceful settlement of international disputes. Moscow hopes that the International Court of Justice will continue to demonstrate prudence and impartiality in its rulings.
