"Now, in March of 2004, Comey and Muller race, sirens blaring, to the hospital bedside of John Ashcroft (who was then the Attorney General) to head off Antonio Gonzalez and Andrew Card who were trying to coerce Ashcroft into approving a secret surveillance program. Later Comey, Mueller and about a dozen others threatened to resign if the program was approved."
So they claim, but this may not be true. What I understood was that Ashcroft was resisting the overturning of the taboo against mass surveillance - his Justice Dept. named it illegal. Comey and the others wanted to be sure they were the ones to wrest the power from Ashcroft?
If Comey was against the mass surveillance why did he stand up last year and claim that American citizens had no right to privacy and had never had a right to privacy. From what I understand Comey is a chief of a mass surveillance program.
Who was in that hospital room with Ashcroft? I remember a different story. And it was shenanigans.
Wiki has a more authentic story than what was written here:
"In March 2004, the Justice Department under Ashcroft ruled that the Stellar Wind domestic intelligence program was illegal. The day after the ruling, Ashcroft became critically ill with acute pancreatitis. President Bush sent his White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales and Chief of Staff Andrew Card Jr. to Ashcroft's hospital bed. They wanted him to sign a document reversing the Justice Department's ruling. The semi-conscious Ashcroft refused to sign; Acting Attorney General James Comey and Jack Goldsmith, head of the Office of Legal Counsel for DOJ, were there to back him up.[18]"
Bush wanted to make the surveillance legal. Ashcroft's Justice dept had ruled that it was not legal. And they were trying to force Ashcroft to sign a reversal while acutely ill in the hospital. I read about it at the time, in detail.
Comey says he backed up Ashcroft . But I don't believe it. Comey is a fucking liar. Also, Bush did reverse it and make the surveillance legal. After they got rid of Ashcroft
The devil on the side of the Twin Tower was likely photoshopped by the husband of a Post newspaper columnist And then the Post paid him for it. But in any case the event was, for some, a Satanic Ritual. And Comey Mueller and others were part of the scheme.
