what is pathetic?

that after 66 years of funding these NASA clowns that the US has no capability to piggy back on this comet and send something really really far off into space.

they've gotten fat and happy, and stolen countless patents to give them to the cabal, and new tech that was paid for by the taxpayer being given to the obvious European and Israeli types who loot the place, and hog the seats.

after all this time how pathetic that we had nothing ready to go out and meet this object!

do we need any other evidence to applaud the choice of giving the money, instead, to Space Force?

hopefully Space Force has classified technology to go out and meet this object, and perhaps piggy back on it as it shoots off into the distant reaches of the Solar System.

NASA announces plans to just hire foreigners, steal all the patents, and waste billions in tax-money funding rendering and AI graphics.

Wait, they never announced it. They just did that for 65 years.

It's far fetched, to me, that these clowns went from total failure with astraunauts burned in the capsule on the launch pad in the mid-60s to 'the moon' by 1969.

I don't believe it.

and if they really went there why is there any doubt?

I used to know some guys who worked in one of the branches who would opine at their desks about the waste at NASA and how they were 'in the way'.

NASA would demand all kinds of money wasting acceptance testing that was basically a fraud. But it funded the belt-way bandit contractor crowd with their lust for IPO dollars.

So much more could have been done!

hopefully those guys are now in Space Force running the place!

they were good men with vision and great ideas and training.

Sadly the bad ones weren't wanted on projects so they directors would just keep sending them to school to get piled-higher-and deeper.

and then they 'qualified', as bad as they were and with no training on real world projects, to direct the research.

'us all'?

many of those here (there is no 'us all') have said for months that it's just another interstellar object and will zoom off into parts unknown come January.

Zeno's role is to have an IPO and suck billions from the banksters and enrich the bankster kin and then sell it all and let it go bankrupt leaving NASA with a situation and still unable to do anything real other than make cartoonish graphics and claim to be the masters of space.

end satire

I tried to figure out how to pass a size to mogrify and have it condense the image using that information.

but even passing the size doesn't always guarantee that the image will be below the 14kb threshold needed to post here now.

so -resize is also needed.

with the resize one needs to pass in a new geometry and one must, thus, maintain the aspect ratio.

from a large square image I was able to make this one using this command:

mogrify -resize 750x750 -define jpeg:extent=14kb inspirational_pepe_in_a_green_blanket.jpg

I had copied this to a different directory.

notice that the size is less than the 14kb.

and I had to figure out the new size and maintain the aspect ratio, as I have said.

I suppose one could just keep iterating until one got a size as close to 14kb as possible. In this case it's 11K so there is 3 k to spare.

if I had not changed the size the image would not use less than 18kb.

be careful with mogrify as it WILL clobber your image.

I use it in a clean directory copying the file over to that before using the command.
