Press conference: I can confirm that there are two individuals that have died this afternoon, and there are another eight in critical status, though stable, at Rhode Island Hospital. Those are the only injuries or casualties that we know at this time.

Mayor Smiley: The city of Providence conducted an active shooter drill, a live drill, at a closed school, about eighteen months ago, with not just police, but fire, emergency management, and the other various departments and city government that are responding. This is a sad state of our country right now where you have to plan for these things.
