(Bloomberg) – California legislators are considering giving Valero Energy Corp. hundreds of millions of dollars to cover refinery maintenance costs in a bid to prevent the closure of a San Francisco-area fuel plant.
Under such a deal, the state would pay Valero to continue operating its Benicia refinery, according to people familiar with the negotiations who asked not to be identified discussing private deliberations. The plant is slated to close by April, the latest in a string of recent California fuel-plant shutdowns.

As CBS News reported, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) alleged this morning during an interview with a local news outlet that ICE agents pulled her son over and demanded that he produce documentation to prove that he was a U.S. citizen.
Once he produced his passport identification, they let him go.
“Yesterday, after he made a stop at Target, he did get pulled over by ICE agents, and once he was able to produce his passport ID, they did let him go,” Omar claimed in an interview with Esme Murphy on WCCO Sunday Morning.
Omar also claimed that immigration agents previously entered a mosque attended by her son. The agents supposedly left without incident.
The congresswoman said after that encounter, she expressed her concerns to her son that he is being targeted for his race and faith.
