Drone captures gunfight, moment shooter hit

Aerial footage appears to have caught the moment police gunned down a man suspected of opening fire at Bondi Beach in a mass shooting targeting Jewish Australians.
The clip, taken by a drone on Sunday night, shows one of the suspected shooters crouching on an elevated bridge and firing shots from above.
He continues to fire shots cautiously before collapsing backwards and falling to the ground.
A second shooter - believed to already be dead - appears to be laying motionless next to him.
Witnesses watched on in horror as two masked gunmen hopped out of a vehicle near Campbell parade and opened fire about 6.40pm on Sunday.
The beach was packed with people attending both Christmas markets and a Chanukkah event.
Ten people have been confirmed dead, including children, a police officer, and one of the gunmen.
Police are probing a suspected IED, or improvised explosive device at the scene, with an unconfirmed report made to police that one was placed under the pedestrian bridge.
An exclusion zone remained in-place and police confirmed no other incidents in Sydney were connected to the shooting.
Officers are also looking into how the gunmen got there and where their car was.
It’s reported 29 people have been taken to hospitals across Sydney, including one to Sydney Children’s Hospital, while 12 people have been confirmed dead.
Among the injured are two police officers.
More footage shows two men lying on the ground of the pedestrian bridge, surrounded by shotgun casing.
One man can be head saying: “F**king bash him”, before appearing to stomp on one of the men’s head.”
He is then pulled away by officers.
Separate video shows officers performing CPR on one of the men on the bridge as people in the crowd say “he’s dead”.
The shooting occurred at a major celebration for Sydney’s Jewish comunity.
Chanukah by The Sea was scheduled to take place tonight from 5pm-9pm, at “Bondi Beach, right near the children’s playground.”
Multiple people, including one police officer, have been shot.
One gunman is understood to have been shot dead and another has been shot and is custody and is being worked on by emergency services.

A ‘drone 9/11’ could unfold if work is not undertaken to bolster defences across the UK and Europe, the head of a global company specialising in counter-measures has warned.
DroneShield chief executive Oleg Vornik said that a ‘large amount’ of protective systems are needed at critical military and public facilities.
He spoke after numerous reports of drones at sensitive installations across the UK and Europe over the past year and warnings that Britain is on a collision course for war with Russia.
The weight that military and off-the-shelf models can carry has increased as the technology evolves and Mr Vornik believes that the commercial kit could be adapted for nefarious ends.
The incidents in the UK remain publicly unexplained, but he told Metro it was not the work of ‘local hooligans flying over the bases.’
‘I would say that it’s clear that we are not talking about local hooligans flying over the bases, and it’s connected with the flights over airports and military bases in Europe,’ he said.
‘There has been a lot of “drone wall” discussion, and many people see this as the Game of Thrones’ Great Wall to keep the White Walkers out.
‘It also requires a large amount of counter-drone systems at each military, public venue and other critical facility across the UK and Europe.
‘It needs to be done urgently before we see the next drone 9/11.’
A series of drone reports have been made at military and nuclear facilities dating back to at least 2022, when Metro reported on several unexplained incidents.
In one of the most high-profile sightings to date, they triggered an alarm over RAF bases used by the US Air Force over several consecutive nights in November 2024.
Another publicly disclosed event took place when they were seen flying over the Irish sea at around the time Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Dublin on December 1.
The repeated incursions in Europe have taken place over military and civilian facilities, with Munich airport having to temporarily halt operations twice in two days in early October because of sightings.
The threat posed to mass-spectator events was demonstrated in 2023 when Southampton’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa was suspended after a drone was sighted inside St Mary’s.
Play was briefly suspended with both teams leaving the pitch before re-emerging 10 minutes later.

How to stop drone attacks
In general, options for defeating drones include ‘hard kill’ – destroying the object with gunfire or missiles – or ‘soft kill’, usually meaning rendering it ineffective through electronic counter-measures.
The most ambitious system being considered by NATO allies is the mooted ‘drone wall’ designed to protect parts of Europe.
Along with the multiple sightings across Europe are intrusions by Russian uncrewed aerial systems into Polish airspace, including when 20 drones forced the closure of four airports in September.
The joint defence system would likely combine radars, sensors, jamming and weapons systems from the Baltic States to the Black Sea.
In June 2024, three drones were seized by police after they were flown over two arenas during Taylor Swift concerts in Liverpool.
DroneShield’s deployed technology includes systems in Poland next to the border with Ukraine, which pick up data about uncrewed aerial systems launched by Vladimir Putin’s forces.
The company, which has an exclusive partnership with BT in the UK and has been involved in trials at commercial airports, provides advanced counter-measures which include integrated AI and the ability to pinpoint an operator’s location.
‘With a drone 9/11, I don’t even think it would be military grade drones like Shaheds, but commercially available DJI drones, as some are able to carry 5-10kg,’ Mr Vornik said.
‘Even 1-2kg of weight can be a lot of explosives in the right place and those could be deployed around crowded events with explosives or biological agents such as anthrax, or even with guns strapped to them, such as at a stadium or another public gathering. They could also potentially be used at an airport, taking an airliner down, or an energy facility.’
Mr Vornik believes that a ‘state actor’ is ‘poking around’ to find out where NATO’s soft areas are and to gauge the alliance’s response. ‘The state actor also wants to spread fear and confusion,’ he added.
The British government is spending over £2 billion on ‘uncrewed systems’ and has committed the same amount in new investment.
A spokesperson said: ‘We take all threats to our airspace security seriously and are scaling up the use of counter-drone technology to detect and deter unauthorised activity around critical infrastructure.
‘Following recommendations in the Strategic Defence Review, the UK is spending £4 billion on boosting our drone capabilities, and over £1 billion on strengthening integrated air and missile defence to protect the UK.’

Drone footage captures aftermath of collapsed Scottish bridge

Striking drone footage has captured the aftermath of a bridge collapse in the North of Scotland.
The historic Garmouth Viaduct fell into the fast-flowing River Spey in Moray on Sunday morning, almost 140 years after the former rail bridge was built in 1886.
Used by pedestrians and cyclists in modern times, the bridge has become a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike.
Trev Moore, who lives near the bridge and took the footage, said that the collapse was “such a shame”.
He added: “She would have been 140 years old next year. She was a regular haunt for me whilst dog walking as I live 15 minutes walk away.
“The change in the river course over the years has obviously had its effects on it. I have pictures of me as a kid on it and I have pictures of my kids on it.
“I really hope that something can be done to save such a significant bridge, cycle path and walkway; rather than leaving it to rot.”
Moray Council confirmed that the bridge had been shut to passersby.
“Due to a partial collapse, the Garmouth viaduct over the River Spey and immediate surrounding area is closed until further notice,” a statement on Sunday read.
“Our engineers are aware and will assess the situation before further detail can be provided.
“Members of the public and media are asked to keep their distance from the rest of the bridge structure.”
Speaking on Sunday, Locally-based MSP Tim Eagle said the collapse was a "sad and shocking thing to have happened”.
He added: "The Spey Bay Bridge is very popular and well used, and will be much missed.
“Sadly, its closure will cause a very lengthy diversion which I fear may affect local communities and businesses nearby such as the Scottish Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay.”

'I Was Taken by Aliens While in Office': Ex Russian President Claims UFO Abduction; World Leaders 'Knew Truth'

It sounds like the plot of a sci-fi thriller, but a former Russian president insists it is his real life story.
Kirsan Ilyumzinov has publicly claimed that he was taken aboard an alien spacecraft while he was still in office, and that some of the most powerful leaders on Earth were aware of similar encounters but stayed silent.
A Late Night in Moscow
According to Ilyumzinov, the extraordinary event took place in September 1997 while he was president of the Russian republic of Kalmykia. Speaking on a recent podcast, he said the night began in a completely ordinary way.
He recalled returning to his Moscow apartment after work, switching on the television, and preparing to sleep. Then came something he described as a half dream, half reality moment. From his open window, he claimed to see a glowing, translucent tube forming in the air.
'There was something like a translucent pipe glowing, made of some matter,' he said. 'I was invited by them.'
Curious rather than afraid, he said he stepped into the tube and was transported into a vast space that he later understood to be a spacecraft.
Inside, he claimed to see beings who looked strikingly similar to humans, dressed in yellow garments, communicating not with speech but through thoughts.
Inside The Spacecraft and The Beings Who 'Invited' Him
Ilyumzinov described the interior of the craft as enormous, comparable to several football fields.
He said the air initially felt thin until one of the beings gestured for him to press on his chest, after which breathing became easy. 'I felt calm. I was not nervous,' he said, adding that the space smelled faintly like the sea or a forest.
He claimed the beings showed him parts of the ship, including large window like openings through which he could see what looked like a fiery planet giving off heat. At one point, he said he asked why they did not reveal themselves to humanity.
Their response, he claimed, was blunt. Humanity was not ready. Comparing humans to ants, the beings allegedly told him that civilisations exist at different levels of development, and that Earth was still too violent and destructive to engage openly with others.
Vanishing From His Flat and Witnesses Left Stunned
Perhaps the most unsettling detail is that Ilyumzinov says he did not simply imagine the experience. He insists there were witnesses to his sudden disappearance.
His chief of staff later confirmed that when colleagues arrived at his apartment the next morning to take him to the airport, he was nowhere to be found.
Phones, clothes and slippers were still in place. The bedroom had been searched repeatedly. Then, after more than an hour of confusion and even a call to the police, Ilyumzinov allegedly walked calmly out of the bedroom.
'He laughed and said, well, aliens took me,' his longtime aide recalled. Ilyumzinov himself said he was surprised by how normal he felt afterwards, suggesting the beings may have influenced his mental state to prevent panic or trauma.
Claims That World Leaders Already Knew
The former president went even further, alleging that knowledge of extraterrestrial contact is quietly shared among global elites.
He said he discussed UFOs with figures such as Mikhail Gorbachev and Henry Kissinger, and claimed that US and Soviet officials once exchanged information on the subject.
'Henry Kissinger was watching me closely. He was a man of few words,' he recalled of one encounter.
Most explosively, Ilyumzinov claimed that another sitting president of a major nation privately confided in him about a similar alien encounter during a fishing trip, but refused to go public for fear of political ruin.
He suggested leaders like Putin, Trump and Xi Jinping are likely aware of UFO programmes and extraterrestrial presence, but choose silence to avoid public panic and ridicule.
Whether seen as a sincere belief, a mystical experience, or an extraordinary claim demanding extraordinary proof, Ilyumzinov's story has reignited debate about UFOs and what the world's most powerful figures may really know.
One thing is certain. When a former head of state says he was taken by aliens while in office, people are bound to listen.

South Idaho Witness Reports UFO Split Into Small Orbs Over River

A southern Idaho resident recently reported seeing something remarkable in the sky over a section of the Snake River southwest of Boise.
Melba, Idaho, is located 33 miles southwest of Boise. It's in this region of the state where Dedication Point can be found.
Just days ago, a witness contacted the National UFO Reporting Center in Washington State claiming to have seen an unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) from a lookout platform above the river.
The Dedication Point Overlook juts out 400 feet above the Snake River and offers incredible canyon views.
The witness reported seeing the strange anomaly through the lens of a telescope on Thursday evening (December 11) just after sunset.
n the report published by the NUFORC, the witness claims to have observed the object for approximately five minutes.
It was described as an 'orange orb' that was not any known flying aircraft. There are numerous videos online regarding strange sightings of unexplained flying objects shaped like orbs.
The report went onto to mention the object 'split into four very small orange orbs that were trailing behind it,' according to the lone witness.
The orbs flew across the sky at a low level, according to the NUFORC data.
