Jack Smith to sit for House Judiciary deposition on Dec. 17

Former special counsel Jack Smith has agreed to sit for a deposition with the House Judiciary Committee on Dec. 17 after the panel’s Republicans issued a subpoena compelling him to appear for closed-door questioning.

 

The subpoena comes after Smith pushed to testify publicly about his prosecution of President Trump for his actions related to Jan. 6, 2021, and retaining classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

Chairman Comer: Clintons Must Appear for Depositions or Face Contempt of Congress

Republican Rep. James Comer of Kentucky in a Friday evening press release threatened former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with contempt charges.

 

The House Oversight Committee subpoenaed the Clintons in August, initially seeking depositions on Oct. 14 for the former president and Oct. 9 for the former first lady regarding their involvement with registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Comer said if the Clintons didn’t appear for depositions scheduled for Dec. 17 and 18 or arrange to appear for questioning in early January then contempt charges would be pursued.

Our entire National Guard family mourns the loss of Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres Tovar, 25, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, 29, of Marshalltown, Iowa-the Iowa Army National Guard Soldiers who were ambushed and killed in Syria. Their mission was in support of ongoing counter-ISIS / counter-terrorism operations in the region.

 

Our hearts are with their families, loved ones and the Iowa National Guard during this time of profound sorrow. We honor their courage and sacrifice, and we will never forget them or their service.

 

We are also thinking of and praying for the families of the civilian interpreter who was killed, and the three other Guardsmen who were wounded. May God place his healing hand upon them.
