Britain’s new intelligence chief warned on Dec. 15 that the UK is operating in an era when “the front line is everywhere,” as she set out an assessment of global threats and described Russia as an “aggressive, expansionist, and revisionist” power determined to export instability across Europe and beyond.

Blaise Metreweli, who recently became head of the Secret Intelligence Service—commonly known as MI6—said that Russia’s campaign against Ukraine and its wider hybrid operations pose an acute and enduring danger to Britain and its allies, according to a preview of her first public speech released by the British government.

“The export of chaos is a feature, not a bug in the Russian approach to international engagement, and we should be ready for this to continue until Putin is forced to change his calculus,” Metreweli said.

‘The Front Line Is Everywhere’

Speaking from MI6 headquarters in London, Metreweli said that as Russia and other hostile actors rewrite the rules of conflict through cyber operations, information warfare, and covert sabotage, the global threat environment is becoming increasingly complex and interconnected.

“The front line is everywhere,” she said, warning that the UK faces a new “age of uncertainty.”

Metreweli said Britain’s support for Ukraine will remain firm and that pressure on Moscow will be sustained despite the length and cost of the war.

“Putin should be in no doubt, our support is enduring,” she said. “The pressure we apply on Ukraine’s behalf will be sustained.”

NATO Warns Russia Could Target Allies Next

Her remarks come as European leaders have issued increasingly blunt warnings about Russia’s intentions beyond Ukraine.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said last week that allied countries could become “Russia’s next target,” saying that Moscow’s willingness to absorb massive losses in Ukraine demonstrated a readiness to confront the wider alliance.

“We need to be crystal clear about the threat,” Rutte said. “We are Russia’s next target, and we are already in harm’s way.”

Zelensky, Merz Hail NATO-Style US Security Guarantees As 'Real Progress' In Peace Deal

We've heard this all before, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and American officials are hailing progress after deep discussions on a peace deal to end the nearly four-year war with Russia. During the couple days of meetings in Berlin, US officials have said there's consensus from Ukraine and Europe on about 90% of the Trump-proposedd peace plan.

It could be finalized within days in order to present to the Kremlin, which is unlikely to go for any scheme which doesn't feature serious territorial concessions. Zelensky late Monday said the draft is "very workable" but that key questions remain unresolved.

Still, the land issue remains a front and central problem. "The Americans are trying to find a compromise," Zelensky said just ahead of visiting the Netherlands on Tuesday. "They are proposing a ‘free economic zone' (in the Donbas). And I want to stress once again: a ‘free economic zone' does not mean under the control of the Russian Federation."

One big breakthrough, from Kiev's point of view, is being reported, however. The NY Times writes that "The United States, Ukraine and Europe have agreed on a NATO-like guarantee for the future security of Ukraine, two U.S. officials said on Monday, as they tried to come up with a revised peace proposal that would deter future aggression and still satisfy Russia."

Susie Wiles Makes Shocking Statements About Trump, Vance, White House Insiders

White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles made shocking statements about President Donald Trump and his cabinet during an extensive interview with Vanity Fair.

The outlet published a two-piece profile on Wiles and the inside of the Trump White House on Tuesday. She was the primary subject, though other Trump administration officials’ comments were included in the article. Wiles put out a statement on X calling the article, which was based off of over 10 interviews with the chief of staff, “a disingenuously framed hit piece.”

The profile opens by listing some of the ways Wiles characterized the cabinet.

Wiles said Trump “has an alcoholic’s personality” and called Vance’s conversion from criticizing the president to being his biggest fan “sort of political,” according to Vanity Fair. Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought is “a right-wing absolute zealot,” according to the Wiles in the article. On Musk and some of his erratic social media posts, she said: “I think that’s when he’s microdosing.” Wiles said she doesn’t have first-hand knowledge, the outlet reported.

Throughout the two-part series, some of the hand-picked quotes were expanded on to give Wiles’ more complete thinking on the staff she works with.

“Significant context was disregarded and much of what I, and others, said about the team and the President was left out of the story,” Wiles wrote in her first post on X in over a year. “I assume, after reading it, that this was done to paint an overwhelmingly chaotic and negative narrative about the President and our team.”

Other Trump allies and members of the administration reinforced Wiles’ statements on X.

“Some clinical psychologist that knows one million times more than I do will dispute what I’m going to say. But high-functioning alcoholics or alcoholics in general, their personalities are exaggerated when they drink. And so I’m a little bit of an expert in big personalities,” Wiles was quoted in Vanity Fair while talking about Trump. Her father, Pat Summerall, was an absentee father and an alcoholic. It was in this context that Wiles said the president has “an alcoholic’s personality,” adding that he “operates [with] a view that there’s nothing he can’t do. Nothing, zero, nothing,” according to the outlet.

Wiles also commented on Musk, who had a very public break-up with the White House after running the administration’s Department of Government Efficiency.

“He is a complete solo actor,” Wiles said in a more extensive quote on the SpaceX founder. Wiles described Musk as “something akin to a jacked-up Nosferatu,” according to Vanity Fair

“The challenge with Elon is keeping up with him,” she added. “He’s an avowed ketamine [user]. And he sleeps in a sleeping bag in the EOB [Executive Office Building] in the daytime. And he’s an odd, odd duck, as I think geniuses are. You know, it’s not helpful, but he is his own person.”
