I was a teenager when "All in the Family" first aired. Didn't watch it much, but recall the outcry. Watched some reruns lately and underlying all the dialogue, it seemed RR really was setup as the good guy while Archie was the old fool for his conservative beliefs. Among the ones I watched was where Archie 'saved' a trans person from choking I recall. So much going on for so long.
