Russian teens detained over Kiev-backed plot – FSB
16 Dec, 2025 11:42
Four Russian teenagers have been detained on suspicion of planning acts of sabotage and arson against transport and energy infrastructure in Russia’s Lipetsk Region, including a plot targeting a key oil pipeline, the Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Tuesday.
The agency claimed the group had acted under Ukrainian guidance.
The FSB said the suspects, aged 14 to 17, were recruited through online messaging platforms.
Investigators said they were contacted in October via a Telegram group advertising quick earnings and were offered money in exchange for carrying out attacks.
According to the FSB, the suspects later collected an improvised explosive device from a concealed location and traveled to a section of the Druzhba pipeline.
Video released by the agency shows officers detaining the suspects, including removing them from a passenger car.
In the footage, the teenagers are shown confessing that in addition to planning to target the oil pipeline, they carried out arson attacks on instructions from people who said they were officers of Ukraine’s SBU security service.
They said the targets included railway signalling equipment, electrical substations, and transformer boxes.
Searches were carried out at the suspects’ homes and the boys were remanded in custody, the agency said, adding that a criminal case had been opened on suspicion of preparing to commit sabotage.
The FSB said the offense carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
Moscow has repeatedly accused Kiev of staging numerous attacks and sabotage operations targeting infrastructure across Russia during the Ukraine conflict.
On Monday, the FSB warned that Ukrainian intelligence services were using phone-scam tactics to dupe Russians out of money and then pressure them into carrying out what it called terrorist acts, saying investigators were working on cases involving ten unrelated people across five regions and that complying with such demands could carry prison terms of up to 20 years.

US issues ultimatum to Ukraine – Telegraph
16 Dec, 2025 12:50
The US has given Ukraine a “take it or leave it” ultimatum, warning that an offer of NATO-style security guarantees could be withdrawn if Kiev does not agree to Washington’s proposed peace terms, according to The Telegraph.
On Monday, Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky met with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Berlin to discuss US President Donald Trump’s peace proposal.
While the details have not been made public, American officials cited by the newspaper have described the proposed security guarantees as “platinum standard.”
However, the negotiators reportedly warned Zelensky that the offer “will not be on the table forever,” urging him to accept Washington’s terms.
The guarantees are said to be modeled on NATO’s Article 5 collective defense clause, which states that an attack on one member is an attack on all and justifies retaliation by the entire bloc.
American officials told The Telegraph that around 90% of the broader peace deal has already been agreed upon by both Moscow and Kiev.
However, there has reportedly been no progress on the territorial issue or on a proposed “50-50” split of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
Washington has reportedly been pressing Kiev to withdraw its forces from the Donbass region as a condition for peace.
According to the Wall Street Journal, US negotiators have been “unwilling to compromise” on this point. The Donbass joined Russia following a referendum in 2022.
Trump pointed out on Monday that Ukraine has “already lost the territory” and that his guarantee proposal is meant to prevent the conflict from restarting. He noted that he wants a deal reached before the end of the year.
Zelensky recently indicated he could abandon Kiev’s NATO ambitions in exchange for binding security guarantees, but has continued to rule out recognizing Russia’s borders or holding a long-delayed presidential election beforehand.
However, he has suggested that after receiving the assurances, Kiev could organize a referendum on territorial concessions and possibly a new vote.
Moscow has rejected Zelensky’s proposal as a ploy to prolong the conflict, insisting on Kiev’s withdrawal from all Russian territories and pledging to push Ukrainian troops out one way or another.

Ukraine hits Russian Submarine in Safe Harbor with underwater drone!
updated Dec 16, 2025
Ukraine has claimed a groundbreaking victory in the Black Sea, using underwater drones to hit a Russian Kilo-class submarine docked in Novorossiysk, Russia’s most important remaining Black Sea base.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) carried out the operation using “Sub Sea Baby” drones, marking the first time an underwater drone has neutralized a submarine.
The submarine, capable of carrying Kalibr-type cruise missiles, suffered critical damage and is likely out of operation, says Dmytro Pletenchuk, Ukrainian navy spokesperson.
Reuters confirms the location of the attack, citing footage published by the SBU. The strike is seen as a significant blow to Russia’s naval capabilities.
Russia hasn’t commented publicly on the attack yet.

Trump ‘looking into’ possible ceasefire violation following IDF strike
Dec. 16, 2025
U.S. President Donald Trump told the White House press pool on Monday that the United States and Israel “have gotten along very well” and that his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “obviously a very good one.”
Trump’s responses followed a reporter’s suggestion that he “rebuked” Netanyahu for the Israel Defense Forces’ Dec. 13 strike that killed Ra’ad Sa’ad, a Hamas commander and one of the architects of the terrorist group’s attacks in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
“We wiped out the Iran nuclear threat, and because of that, we were able to make peace in the Middle East,” Trump told reporters.
“We’ve had a very good relationship with Israel. We actually have a very good relationship with just about everybody in the Middle East.”
Asked if the IDF strike violated the terms of the ceasefire, the president said, “We’re going to have to see. We’re looking into that.”
According to an Axios report, a senior U.S. official told the outlet that the White House “sent a stern private message” to Netanyahu following Sa’ad’s death.
During the press conference, Trump was also asked if he has confidence in Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa after a “lone ISIS gunman” killed two U.S. service members and a civilian in Syria.
“I do. I mean, this had nothing to do with him,” Trump said. “This is a part of Syria that they really don’t have much control over.”
“He feels very badly about it. He’s working on it; he’s a strong man,” he added. “This had nothing to do with the Syrian government. This had to do with ISIS. The response? They will be hit hard.”
Al-Sharaa sent a condolence letter to Trump on Dec. 14, stating, “Syria unequivocally condemns this attack and reaffirms its commitment to preserving stability and security in Syria and across the region.”

Military drone crashes near homes in Central Poland
16 Dec 2025 15:53
An unidentified military drone has crashed near residential homes in central Poland, raising safety concerns despite no reported injuries or damage, local media reported on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the village of Leków in the Masovia region, where the drone fell onto private property close to residential buildings.
Initial reports suggest the UAV was a small reconnaissance drone involved in a Polish military exercise in the area, News.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Authorities said no houses were damaged and no civilians were harmed in the crash. An investigation is under way to determine the exact cause of the incident.
The crash comes amid heightened sensitivity in Poland over drone activity. In September, around 20 Russian drones briefly entered Polish airspace, prompting air defence forces to shoot down several of them while others crashed or were detected across multiple locations, including near a military base.
NATO later launched Operation Eastern Sentry to reinforce air defences along Europe’s eastern flank, following concerns that some of the drones involved in earlier incursions were capable of carrying explosives.

Sudan Suffers Devastating Drone Attacks
Updated: 16-12-2025 19:52 IST
At least 104 people, including 43 children, have been killed in a series of drone attacks in Sudan's Kordofan region, according to the U.N. human rights office. Since December 4, these hostilities have escalated significantly.
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, expressed deep concern over the increasing violence, which involves the Sudanese Army, the Rapid Support Forces, and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North.
These groups have been clashing in Kordofan, a region divided into three states in central and southern Sudan.
Details on who is behind these drone strikes remain unclear. However, Turk reported that critical sites, including hospitals, a kindergarten, and a U.N. base, have been targeted, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

Human‑wave attacks and drones: How Myanmar's junta is fighting back
December 16, 20255:45 AM PST
Summary
After stalemate and defeat, Myanmar junta reshapes tactics with conscription and drone fleet
Generals also benefit from Chinese pressure on some armed groups
Junta makes limited gains nationwide, though no one party dominates frontlines
Military's battlefield advances coincide with controversial upcoming election
Dec 16 (Reuters) - For seven days, rebel fighter Khant and his comrades held the line as Myanmar's military pounded their positions with artillery and drone strikes.
Khant is a veteran of numerous battles against Myanmar's junta since it seized power in a 2021 coup, but he had seen nothing like the intensity of the fighting in central Myanmar in October.
Make sense of the latest ESG trends affecting companies and governments with the Reuters Sustainable Switch newsletter. Sign up here.
The strikes were followed by wave after wave of infantry, according to Khant and Htike, a fellow rebel who was also present at the battle for Pazun Myaung, a village roughly halfway between Myanmar's largest city and its political capital.
"It was essentially an offensive using all the power they could muster," Htike said of one particularly tough five-hour period of fighting.
After a week, the rebels' losses became too painful to bear and they retreated to a nearby base.
Two years after a major rebel offensive left much of Myanmar's borderlands in resistance hands, the junta has found its footing on the battlefield, according to Reuters' interviews with six rebel fighters and three security analysts, including some who interact regularly with the military.
The junta has reshaped its tactics by introducing conscription and expanding its drone fleet, enabling it to reclaim some territory after defeats or stalemates on the battlefield.
The generals have also been boosted by the backing of China, which has applied diplomatic and financial pressure on resistance groups to stop fighting.
Three rebel fighters, including Htike and Khant, said they had witnessed the military using "human wave" manoeuvres to overwhelm rebel defences, reflecting new battlefield tactics that have not previously been reported.
"After one soldier died, another one came up to take his place," said Khant of the October battle, adding that some appeared to be threatened at gunpoint by their commanders.
Junta troops had previously been quick to flee once losses started to mount, two rebel fighters told Reuters.
A spokesperson for Myanmar's military did not respond to questions about changes in its strategy.
The National Unity Government, a parallel anti-junta administration that includes members of Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi's ousted government, also did not return requests for comment.
The changes have helped the military mount a limited comeback in at least three states, according to a November briefing by the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore.
But the junta's battlefield gains are uneven and it faces various rebel armies that have differing levels of strength, the think-tank said, meaning no single entity dominates frontlines nationwide.
The push by Myanmar's generals to regain lost territory coincides with a general election scheduled to begin on December 28 that United Nations chief Antonio Guterres and international rights groups have said will be neither free nor fair.
Key opposition figures like Suu Kyi remain in detention and many other anti-junta political groups have said they will boycott the election.
The junta is likely to be further emboldened to seek to reclaim more territory as momentum shifts along the frontline, which stretches hundreds of kilometres from China to the Bay of Bengal, said Min Zaw Oo, executive director of the Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security think-tank.
"We will see more armed clashes and more attempts from the military to retake territories in the coming three years," he said.

CONSCRIPTS AND DRONES
Myanmar's junta made military service mandatory for young people in February 2024, just months after it was battered by a coordinated rebel offensive dubbed Operation 1027.
Since the announcement, 70,000 to 80,000 recruits have entered the military, according to two military defectors and an analyst. The junta has announced roughly 16 rounds of conscription and said it will call up some 5,000 people at a time.
The military has a force of about 134,000, according to an 2025 estimate by the International Institute for Strategic Studies think-tank in London, down from 400,000 before the coup.
The reinforced units are increasingly led by seasoned officers, following a shake-up triggered by Operation 1027 when rebels captured around 150 military outposts within a month, said Min Zaw Oo.
"There was a period where officers were promoted without having suitable field experience," said the analyst, adding that he obtained the information from people with direct knowledge of junta personnel changes. "The military took drastic actions to replace a lot of these officers."
Maj. Naung Yoe, who left the junta after the coup and now researches the civil war, said people with direct knowledge of the postings had told him that more experienced officers were taking over command positions previously handed out based on favouritism.
The junta's use of patronage-based promotion has been documented by researchers, including those at the U.S. Institute of Peace think-tank, opens new tab and the University of Chicago, opens new tab.
Many units now have more time to rest after long battlefront deployments, something a stretched military had been unable to do in the years immediately after the coup, Min Zaw Oo and Naung Yoe said.
The junta has also built up a fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles, including suicide and scouting drones.
The military appears to have access to 19 different UAV models, including fixed-wing and multi-rotor drones made in China, Russia and Iran, according to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project, a coalition of international researchers that tracks the Myanmar civil war.
Conventional airstrikes remain the military's most frequently used tactic in 2025, ACLED data show, though these are now increasingly guided by intelligence gathered from reconnaissance and surveillance drones, said Su Mon, an analyst with the group.
This combination of tactics has led to more precise junta aerial attacks, she said, adding that her assessment was based on a review of media reports and interviews with local combatants.
While resistance groups have access to drones, they are vulnerable to junta UAVs due to a lack of jamming technology and air-defense systems, said Su Mon and two rebel fighters.
The military has also started to allow lower-level commanders to directly request air support that previously required senior approval, enabling airstrikes on enemy defences ahead of infantry assaults, according to the three analysts.
BEIJING'S BACKING
A third element of the junta's fightback is China.
Beijing has close commercial and cultural ties to some anti-junta resistance groups, but it has historically viewed Myanmar's generals as guarantors of stability in its backyard.
Chinese officials have helped broker at least two ceasefires in 2024 and 2025, including one that returned to junta control the northeastern town of Lashio, where rebels captured the first regional military command in Myanmar's history.
China has also leaned on armed groups such as the United Wa State Army to choke the flow of weapons to other resistance units, according to international researchers.
"China froze UWSA-linked assets, imposed border restrictions and demanded that the group cut off supply of weapons to other groups," the International Crisis Group said in a November briefing on Beijing's actions to support the junta after mid-2024.
China's Foreign Ministry and UWSA did not return requests for comment.
In the ruby-mining mountain town of Mogok, Chinese pressure on the Ta'ang National Liberation Army, another militia with ties to Beijing, has restricted the availability of weapons and led to a complete halt in anti-junta resistance operations, local rebel fighter Sanay told Reuters.
A top TNLA official confirmed in a December Facebook post that the group had been forced into a ceasefire by a lack of ammunition and money, but did not elaborate.
A spokesperson for the militia previously told Reuters that TNLA had been subject to pressure by Beijing. "On the other side, the military council is launching offensives with superior forces," said Sanay, who fights for a militia allied with the TNLA.
"If you look into the underlying reason why we can't compete and are losing ground in the offensives, it is ultimately due to pressure from China."

Turkey Downs Drone Near Black Sea
December 16, 2025
Turkey shot down an “out of control” UAV that approached its airspace from the Black Sea, the defence ministry said late on Monday, December 15th.
F-16 fighter planes were scrambled after the drone was detected and it was destroyed in a safe area away from populated zones.
The incident comes amid increased military activity in the Black Sea following Ukrainian attacks on Russia’s so-called shadow fleet of oil tankers used to bypass Western sanctions.
Recent strikes have taken place close to Turkey’s exclusive economic zone, raising concerns in Ankara over maritime safety and regional stability.
Turkey, a NATO member with close ties to both Russia and Ukraine, has repeatedly warned against escalation in the Black Sea.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has previously described attacks on shipping near Turkish waters as a “worrying” development, stressing the risks to navigation and security in the region.

What the Government Still Isn’t Telling Us About UAPs
Dec 16, 2025
Dan Farah (director and producer, “The Age of Disclosure”) joins Chris Cuomo to explain why dozens of senior military, intelligence, and political officials are now going on the record about unidentified anomalous phenomena—and why the U.S. government has kept so much hidden for decades.
Farah breaks down how his documentary brought together bipartisan voices with direct knowledge of UAP programs, what they were legally allowed to say, and why secrecy around non-human technology has persisted for more than 80 years.
Cuomo and Farah examine the national security implications of unexplained craft operating near nuclear sites, the race to reverse-engineer advanced technology, and why even presidents have been kept in the dark.
They also explore the stigma that has suppressed serious inquiry, the growing bipartisan push for transparency, and what meaningful disclosure could look like—without sensationalism, but with accountability.

Former Russian Republic President Claims He Was Abducted By Aliens Who Created The Human Race
Last Updated Dec 16, 2025 10:11 am
The former President of a Russian Republic, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, recently doubled down on his previous claim of having been abducted by aliens. Not only that, but he also claimed these same aliens created the human race.
Ilyumzhinov has been making similar claims for more than a decade. He said he was abducted by aliens in September 1997. He reaffirmed this claim, and more, during a recent appearance on the American Alchemy podcast hosted by Jesse Michaels.
The former President of the Republic of Kalmykia in the Russian Federation said the abduction occurred when he was standing on the balcony of his apartment in Moscow. He claimed aliens wearing yellow spacesuits met with him there.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov said the aliens put a spacesuit on him and “invited” into a glowing, translucent tube which transported him to a large spacecraft.
There, he says, the aliens told him many things and showed him around for several hours. He said he was completely “conscious, calm and sober” during the entire episode.
“They wanted to demonstrate that UFOs do exist,” he claimed. “I am often asked which language I used to talk to them. Perhaps it was on a level of the exchange of ideas.”
Ilyumzhinov, the former head of the international chess governing body FIDE, also said the aliens told him that five previous intelligent civilizations have called Earth home. They created the human race and, of course, invented the game of chess.
The aliens added that the human race was at an “embryonic” stage of development. They also supposedly compared humans to ants destroying their own nest with wars and environmental damage.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov said he has discussed his alien abduction with several world leaders including former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, and current President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
However, he claimed, the aliens did not share any military knowledge with him, nor had they told him anything about what will happen in the future.

The ‘Mona Lisa of UFO paintings’ goes on display
Dec 15, 2025, 2:39pm PST
A new art exhibition in New York explores the enduring relevance of unexplained phenomena to the modern human experience.
Featuring three dozen works by artists including René Magritte and Isa Genzken, Voice of Space taps into visualizations of unidentified flying objects as a means of exploring how, despite contemporary societies’ technological advances, paranormal phenomena still have the capacity to “challenge or expand our beliefs about humanity’s place” in the universe, the gallery wrote.
Magritte’s eponymous painting, in particular, is “the Mona Lisa” of UFO art, the curator told Artnet News — which, like lots of surreal UFO works, is relevant to “transhistorical human experience, belief systems, cybernetics, and AI … It’s an attempt to map where we are in the world.”

Scientists discover 'alien' structure beneath mysterious Bermuda Triangle
December 16, 2025
The Bermuda Triangle has baffled scientists for decades due to mysterious disappearances and now a strange structure beneath it has deepened the mystery.
An enormous 12.4 mile rock structure was discovered beneath the ocean crust below Bermuda.
The team behind the discovery claims that the stone structure is unlike anything else on Earth, adding: “No structure this thick has ever been found before.”
They also believe that this might help in solving one of the most puzzling geological mysteries of the world.
Bermuda sits on a formation often linked to volcanoes as it is located on an "oceanic swell" (a raised area of ocean crust) but there’s no evidence of a volcano, as no eruption has been recorded in the area since the last 31 million years.
According to a paper published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, scientists were studying seismic waves when they observed that waves changed course near Bermuda leading to the discovery of a thick rock structure.
Experts are looking beneath the other islands to see if anything like the structure beneath Bermuda exists elsewhere.
A seismologist at Carnegie Science, Dr William Frazer, said, “Understanding extreme structures like Bermuda makes it easier to study less extreme places,” adding it provides us a sense of normal processes on Earth and the most extreme processes.
The Bermuda Triangle is known for unexplained ship and aircraft disappearances.

Congress Prepares UFO Subpoenas After Third NDAA Failure
December 15, 2025
Representatives Anna Paulina Luna, Tim Burchett, and Eric Burlison appeared together in a joint interview on the Weaponized podcast, revealing their frustrations with government stonewalling and outlining a new strategy to force answers on unidentified anomalous phenomena.
According to the interview, Representative Luna called for the defunding of AARO, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, stating that the Pentagon’s official UAP investigation unit has not been an honest broker with Congress.
Luna referenced a formal request by Congress to access UAP footage archives held by the Department of War. That request was denied, even for viewing in a SCIF, which is a secure facility specifically designed for classified discussions.
Representative Burchett addressed the issue of compartmentalization, a security practice where information is divided across agencies so that no single person has the full picture.
According to Burchett, this fragmentation means one official can honestly deny knowledge while another in a different program knows everything. He also pushed back on recent comments by Elon Musk, who stated he does not believe the objects are extraterrestrial based on his SpaceX access.
Burchett argued that Musk is still operating within a compartmentalized system and does not have full access.
Ross Coulthart, speaking on NewsNation, described the current situation as a funny game where the Pentagon categorically denies any knowledge of extraterrestrial engagement while members of Congress emerge from classified briefings saying something completely different.
Coulthart also noted that senior administration officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and individuals at the Director of National Intelligence level, are taking the UAP issue seriously.
This shift in strategy comes after the UAP Disclosure Act failed for the third consecutive year.
According to a report from Liberation Times, Representative Burlison was told by House Armed Services Chair Mike Rogers that the legislation could only move forward if he secured agreement from the Four Corners, meaning the chairs and ranking members of both the House and Senate Armed Services and Intelligence Committees.
Liberation Times characterized this requirement as an impossible task, noting that some of those same individuals have been blocking UAP transparency efforts for years.

The Liberation Times report also identified Representatives Mike Turner and Mike Rogers as key figures in opposing the legislation.
According to campaign finance data, both have received significant contributions from defense and aerospace companies, the same industries that would be affected if UAP-related programs were disclosed.
Representative Burchett also revealed that he has been personally warned to stop pursuing the issue. According to his account on Weaponized, someone close to him approached him in a tunnel and asked if he really wanted to upset this apple cart.
Liberation Times separately reported that sources indicated enthusiasm among some Senate advocates may have waned due to alleged threats directed at senators’ staff.
According to Liberation Times, Burchett is scheduled to meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio to raise the UAP issue directly.
Burchett stated on Weaponized that he believes disclosure will come either through executive action from the President or completely outside the government through a private individual or another country. He does not believe the Pentagon or intelligence agencies will voluntarily come forward.
The legislative path remains blocked, but the congressional investigation continues. Luna, Burchett, and Burlison are compiling evidence for their subpoena push, with plans to present it to their chairman and force a decision.
