Reiner’s Celebrity Turn for Clinton

By Jim Rutenberg October 9, 2007 12:29 pm October 9, 2007 12:29 pm

Reiner's Celebrity Turn for Clinton Rob Reiner appears in a Clinton video.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign has a new video out, and, like the Soprano’s-style video from earlier this year, it’s likely to catch some Web buzz for Mrs. Clinton. It features one of her big celebrity endorsers, the director Rob Reiner, who in 2004, when he had gotten behind Howard Dean, had an itching for more involvement in the campaign’s media strategy.

It’s interesting how much support Hilary and Obama are getting from big money “liberals.” I’m wondering why Edwards lags so far behind? Could it be that these social libertarians are not quite so progessive when it comes to their pocketbooks? Edwards is without question the only major candidate who is liberal in the traditional sense. Reiner and the rest are really supporting moderates.

I guess my questiion is, if rich Hollywood/NYC “liberals” are supporting moderates, who’s left to support a liberal? The answer is frighteningly clear. Nobody. Would someone please step up and throw some support behind Edwards – if for no other reason than to keep the rest of them honest?

Has anybody seen it [ I mean Hillary supporters} ?

It is so good – funny but realistic, incisive but not intense. In fact, it is very lighthearted.

“Meathead” has not lost his touch and talent.

Buzz, indeed. And thanks, Mr. Rutenberg – I was looking for a forum to laud this wonderful video.

I think I finally understand where the “Dean scream” came from. There is such a thing as over-direction.

Stan October 9, 2007 · 1:23 pm

Oh he help put to office president Howard Dean?

Jazzbeaux Beiderbecke October 9, 2007 · 1:24 pm

I wonder why Reiner didn’t try to be funny.
