>For people chosen by God why can’t you say God not G_d?
>Weird
The rule does not apply to me, personally. I was explaining that people of the 'Jewish' faith do not write the name of G-d for fear that the written name on the paper might be torn, soiled, or corrupted. This principle has been of value to archaeologists as any written reference to G-d was deposited in a communal Genizah, such as at Cairo.
Nevertheless the name is usually available in accurate translations (ASV for, example) in Psalm 83:18.
