Due to extremely high winds, low humidity and dry vegetation causing high fire risk, we will be conducting a Public Safety Power Shutoff at 10 am today December 17th in parts of Boulder, Clear Creek, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld counties. Wind conditions are expected to improve around 6 pm, however, high winds and low relative humidity that may create wildfire risk and cause outages are expected again on Friday.

Hundreds of Xcel Energy crew members and contractors are positioned along the Front Range, ready to restore power due to the PSPS as well as any other outages caused by high winds. Crews must inspect power lines and equipment and repair damage before it can be safely re-energized. You can help Xcel Energy get a jump on power restoration by reporting any outages outside of the PSPS zone. We also encourage you to report any damage to power lines that they see.

Due to changes in weather forecasts Xcel Energy is also evaluating the potential need for a second PSPS event impacting mountain communities and the Front Range on Friday, Dec. 19, beginning as early as 6 a.m.
