OOF! New York Times Says Congressional Stock Trading Record Leaves ‘Asterisk’ on Nancy Pelosi’s Legacy
by Mike LaChance Dec. 17, 2025
Liberal newspapers are having themselves quite a week. First the Washington Post went after Mayor Brandon Johnson’s budget plan, saying ‘Chicago has lost its mind’ and now the New York Times is going after Nancy Pelosi over her record on stock trades.
The paper said that this issue leaves an ‘asterisk’ on Pelosi’s legacy. It notes that Pelosi has become an incredibly wealthy woman through stock trades and once again raises questions about how she di it. Pelosi has often been accused of using inside information to benefit herself.
She is certainly walking away from her ‘public service’ career as a very wealthy woman.
The NY Times piece is behind a paywall but FOX News has details:
Pelosi perceived as ‘on the wrong side’ over congressional stock trading as career nears end: NY Times
The New York Times called out former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., in a Monday piece, arguing she’s ending her career with an “asterisk” due to her stance on congressional stock trading.
While Pelosi, who’s retiring in 2027 after 40 years in Congress, will leave office as the most powerful woman in American political history, “the widespread perception that she was on the wrong side of the debate over congressional stock trading, and personally benefited from the practice, has put an asterisk on that legacy,” the Times reported.
Pelosi does not personally own or trade stocks, but her husband, venture capitalist, Paul Pelosi, actively does. They have grown exponentially wealthier amid her time in office, a correlation that has raised eyebrows on both sides of politics. Critics argue that they have benefited from essentially having insider knowledge through her time as an influential politician.
As bipartisan fervor has grown to prevent congressional stock trading, Pelosi “failed to appreciate the groundswell of support for banning the practice, refusing to give an inch amid GOP accusations that she was corrupt,” the Times reported.
Senator Josh Hawley appeared on Watters’ World last night and talked about this, and about how Pelosi blocked efforts to rein in stock trading practices in Congress.
This is something Nancy Pelosi will definitely be remembered for. She probably didn’t plan for that, but it’s reality.

Democrat Running for U.S. Senate in Maine Supports ‘Giving Land Back’ to Indigenous People
by Mike LaChance Dec. 17, 2025
Graham Platner, the Democrat running for U.S. Senate in Maine recently said during a streaming session that he supports giving land back to indigenous people in his state.
Platner has been under fire in recent months after it was revealed that he had an actual Nazi tattoo on his chest. Since then, he has been running on a slightly lower profile, waiting for that news cycle to blow over.
His comments on indigenous people and land is a perfect example of progressive virtue signaling. He has to show Democrat base voters that he is as radically far left as they are.
The Washington Free Beacon reported:
‘A Foundation of My Politics’: Graham Platner Calls To Return Maine Land to ‘Indigenous Population’
Senate candidate Graham Platner (D., Maine) called to return land to natives in the state he’s running to represent, arguing that longstanding injustices committed by state and federal governments remain unresolved.
“I, for one, am a firm supporter in any legislation that increases tribal sovereignty for the indigenous population in Maine,” Platner said Monday during a virtual town hall. “I also am a firm supporter of any legislation on the federal level that begins to give more, frankly, land back to the indigenous peoples that was taken from them, and there are a few mechanisms of doing this.”
“Tribal sovereignty, quite frankly, is a foundation of my politics,” he added. “I don’t think we get to have a future full of justice, dignity, and peace, but we don’t right the injustices of the past.”
There are roughly 10,000 indigenous people living in Maine—the 10th smallest population in the United States, according Census data in 2021.
So-called land-back advocates typically call for returning public lands, specifically, to natives.
As further proof that Platner lives in an alternate reality, here he is talking about Trump’s speech tonight before it happened and saying that the Trump administration is leading us into a war with Venezuela. Trump did not mention anything about this in his address.
Again, not dealing in reality at all. So many of the Democrats live with this imaginary version of Trump that exists only in their heads.
