This image shows Werner Franz, the last surviving crew member of the Hindenburg, pictured after the airship disaster.
Werner Franz was a 14-year-old cabin boy on the Hindenburg when it caught fire and crashed in Lakehurst, New Jersey, on May 6, 1937.
He survived the crash without injury, partly because a water ballast tank burst and drenched him, protecting him from the flames.
Franz escaped by jumping out of a cloth supply hatch just before the airship hit the ground.
The disaster, which killed 35 of the 97 people on board and one person on the ground, was a major blow to the image of German air travel.
Franz died in 2014 at the age of 92
