Thirty-six other countries were involved in its aftermath. In preparation for the invasion, 100,000 U.S. troops assembled in Kuwait by 18 February.[28] The coalition forces also received support from the Peshmerga in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Biphasic sleep (also referred to as segmented sleep, or bimodal sleep) is a pattern of sleep which is divided into two segments, or phases, in a 24-hour period.

First sleep and second sleep

edit

One biphasic sleep pattern is sometimes described as segmented sleep, involved sleeping in two phases, separated by about an hour of wakefulness. This pattern was common in preindustrial societies, and it was most common to sleep early ("first sleep"), wake around midnight, and return to bed later ("second sleep").[8] Along with a nap in the day, it has been argued that this is the natural pattern of human sleep in long winter nights.[9][10] A case has been made that maintaining such a sleep pattern may be important in regulating stress.[10]
