They aren't making any effort to refute anything, and you are right, when you remove all the buzzwords and pejoratives, there is nothing left in their hit-pieces. Nothing at all. They truly do believe that people are so stupid that no one will see through it, but that is only 7.9% of the public that still actually believes them.
They are in a losing battle and they know it. Someone posted a German chess term, which I shall proceed to get wrong, but it was something like zum zig - the meaning in chess is that you are in a position where no matter how you move, your position will be worse than it is now.
THAT is the position the mockingbirds are in, and it is by design. That is what terrifies them, too.
